But never when you need a bit of rain to avoid a crushing defeat!!
-
We are going to get shafted by the weather again . The Glosters have skittled Middlesex for 101 and might even win despite only making 248, won't be much play at the Aegeas today
-
Too much cricket perhaps. Played Big Bash and then started the PSL until it was postponed. Looked good at the start of Hant's season but that was 3 months ago, been going downhill since.
-
Pity each day seems to be truncated by rain or bad light around half five, especially as we have Surrey on the ropes and the Glosters don't look as if they'll be making a big score (then again neither did we yesterday).
-
Played a bit better yesterday evening and got the win. Poor again from the 3 star batsmen but Prest, Weatherly and Fuller stepped up to compensate. Real cricket again tomorrow, I wonder if they'll give Prest a go at 3 or resort to Alsop again. I see that Northeast has left the club, initially on loan at Yorkshire and that we've signed Nick Gubbins from Midddlesex. I see also that Abbas has lost his Pakistan central contact so might we see him back again ?
-
Very poor indeed, team selection totally incomprehensible unless there are a few injuries/illnesses. Vince looks completely out of touch, the two overseas players put on a good show and the rest just didn't look good enough. Still with 7 home games to come perhaps we'll pick up a bit. What's the position with Aneurin Donald nowadays ?
-
It certainly looks that way, then again apart from the first couple of championship games against pretty mediocre bowling our batting hasn't looked all that great this season at all. Don't really think that the bowling is up to the job either, not without Abbott or a wicket helping the spinners. Pity Barker doesn't play white ball cricket.
-
Good win for Hants this evening. Hants total didn't really look enough, especially when Essex got after Crane a bit but some good fielding turned it around for us, think there were 3 run outs and a couple of good catches.
-
Belay my last, spinners have put the brakes on a bit and are getting some wickets.
-
Not a great start to the T20 campaign. Bowling looks weak and is getting seriously smashed. PLus the video stream just stopped working.
-
Good while it lasted. Perhaps it will stop raining again one day. Probably not soon enough for us to get 15 more Leicester wickets before tomorrow evening though.
-
Doesn't seem to be the best of days for spectators to return to the Aegeas. Delayed start, frequent showers and a pretty awful batting wicket that makes very ordinary seamers look deadly. Now if we'd started tomorrow it might have been better. Apparently it's because the New Zealand team finish their quarantine at the end of the week and want to practise on the ground.
-
Batting looks hazardous again this morning.Pinned down again, Weatherly caught at slip, Holland dropped at slip a few balls later.
-
Provided that he can adapt to English conditions yes, looks handy from the video clip on the OS. That said Handscombe looks a right old duffer with the willow on English Spring wickets. Still, wickets later inthe season should improve.
-
Hope that the weather holds up for you then. Bonus week, football on Tuesday, I assume that you'll be going and cricket from Thursday to Sunday. I see that we've signed an Australian batsman who bowls a bit for the T20. Only 7 home matches though, why aren't there at least 8 as there are 18 county sides?
-
Holland and Weatherly looking solid so far, keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Might finish today.
-
Hopefully not, don't want to see any swishing outside of the off stump. they'd probably do that if they need 66 from about 32 overs. Wicket looks realy, really difficult to bat on.
-
Right. Hants need 66 to win in about 130 overs, rain permitting. Can't possibly cock this up surely.
-
5 in front, 4 down...
-
Middlesex 3 down for less than 30 would be a great start, t'were it Hampshire it would be far more likely. Still at least we managed to recover a bit from the catastrophic start, thanks to Vince and Barker. Don't think the rest, including extras, made 60 between them.
-
When you look at the number of our runs that are scored behind the wicket it's no real wonder that our batting is so fragile. What was Dawson thinking? 67/4 and he has to have a one day slash outside of the off stump.
-
Not getting any better 9/3.
-
Oh dear, Hants 9/2 again after bowling out Middlesex for 172.
-
A better, if shortened, day yesterday. Put Middx in and they were 90/4 at the close. 3 wickets for Abbott. Abbas bowled pretty well but isn't getting wickets just now. Hope we'll get nigh on a full day's play today because we need a win.
-
Yes, the two straight losses for Hants is a bit of a downer. I just don't see how we're going to correct the batting disasters against decent seamers on a track that's doing anything at all. At least we made an effort of it yesterday but losing Abbott to a nothing ball on Saturday evening really didn't help. Northeast doesn't seem to be the solid top order batsman that he seemed to be at Kent. I didn't watch a lot yesterday but I do wonder if our batsmen are taking the off stump guard that seems to be relatively successful against our pace bowlers.
