Exactly, pushed at the pedals, lambert of liverpool, roy of the rovers, perfect examples of alliteration. Jeez, Harry Spooner would be proud of me.
-
Derry explained it to us yesterday. Post 2110, I'm sure he has factual basis for saying that.

Lambert of Liverpool is like Roy of the Rovers isn't it.

Exactly, people don't seem to realise how awful the general standard of football is here. Paris SG have spent about 500 million (or even more) but their side usually contains 1 frenchman..Matuidi all the rest are Brazilians,Italians,Argentines etc, they won the championship at a canter, Monaco were a distant second even with the 300 million or so spent on players last season and half of that the season before to get them out of L2, they literally bought their way out. When you're faced with Angers and Chateauroux who probably pay their entire staff half of what Falcao is paid you can see just how easy it is. The problem in France is tax, everything is taxed to death. 1 worker and his employer supports about 3 or 4 non workers, the taxes are ridiculous, so poor clubs with a couple of thou home gates cannot afford good players, even top clubs can't keep their players nowadays. French 2nd div football would be little better than the conference.

Yes I've seen the "latest odds" and they're still quoting blokes like Yakin (coming in according to 1) who'll sign on in Moscow later today or tomorrow, all done and dusted. Then there are the usual "stick him in and see if we can get some fool to put £20 on him candidates" like Hoddle and Redknapp. Complete bazar really, I mean you wouldn't bet on some nag that you saw in a horse trailer just in case he turned up in the derby now would you. Bookies must just love manager instability in football because people seem inclined to bet on non-candidates.

The Greeks want him I think, not so sure that he wants the Greeks, he's to decide by the start of next week apparently. Not great at Monaco last season really but they still had a half and half side, a lot of expensive buys but also a lot of players who came up from the 2nd division with them, you know like Fox and Jos. Side is only as good as it's weakest elements. Then there was Falcao who blew hot and cold because he thought he might go to Madrid and eventually got injured for half a season. Ranieri handled it all with dignity and some very dubious French, should have used a translator perhaps

Must be today's interview candidate then.
-
Not the same type of player though, could mean they're willing to experiment with what they've got after acquiring Emre and will tell us to p*ss off. So much the better for us, unless of course you've been turned against Lallana by his antics. Then again it could be just a warning shot across the bows for us and they're telling us not to tart them about any more. Who knows what it might mean.
-
Perhaps players needed that kind of training because they'd gone soft eh...........
-
But did he apply for the job or did we just seek him out of our own accord therein lies the question. Could be bolloaks anyway but if we're actively seeking out another club's manager would that not suggest that none of the actual candidates tick all the boxes with all of the deciders ?

Exactly

Tbh an overseas camp for whom? The few players who aren't on international duty just now and some no hopers from the U18s. It would cost a lot for very little tbh.
-
Really I don't know what you're all moaning about, wait until they publish the short list (as promised:mcinnes:) , then we can have some serious discussion and people will stop betting on candidates who aren't on it...mind you the bookies will be miffed.

I don't mind paying Canal+ 85€ a month for all the rest because French public Tv is absolutely dire, unless you like Granny programmes and great doses of politics that is. Canal transmits the PL, 6 games every week, rest on highlights. WC isn't an issue for us, BeiN have all the games but between C+ and TFI you're only missing a couple of first rounders in the middle of the night between no-hopers anyway. Anyway George Williams looked like a midfielder, ran at them a bit, good ball control but eventually tried to do too much and usually got upended by Vlaar.

To do what? Fill up for Utd and Chelsea and have vast empty spaces against Stoke and Norwich. A few more thousand on the gate for a few matches will bring nothing much to the club. We need to sell out for every league game at SMS as it is first and create new demand for every game.
-
No they're cost cutting, we've paid (or are going to pay) 30 million £ for a training ground, no point in paying to use someone else's facilities and not use your own. Long way from Austria and Spain last season though or the 2 years of Swiss bonanza.
-
Right, I didn't see the game because I refuse to give the Qataris 12€ a month, had to watch Holland-Wales, awful apart from the Welsh 10 year old, 4ft 6 high who came on near the end, gave the ageing Dutch a bit of a run around, think he plays for Fulham in some capacity.

A job's a job isn't it. Got him a few quid I expect and let him get his foot back in the stirrup after a bit of an absence. Never knock anyone for taking a job when they don't have one myself...well unless they work in a call centre

Magath has his qualities that would appeal to the "board"...he's German... Also reputed as a bit of a hard liner, Mauricio was a hard liner you know, the players liked him and he had their respect but he wasn't a soft old gran. I remember predicting back in January when Mauricio seemed undecided that our next manager might be a German, I was thinking more Rosler though.

Rehab for disgraced football managers.
-
I have not followed this thread but didn't Stones play last night? Flanagan is a left back I believe.
-
It's what bookies do isn't it, live off other people's greed. It's not their fault if chancers punt stupid sums on happenings and events that they know nothing about. Gambling should be outlawed on events where no parameters are defined. Still I expect governments everywhere make fat sums off of it so there's no chance.
-
Oh drat, had a bit more rain and then a couple of overs but we couldn't get their last 2 wickets, match drawn. Worcs-Surrey ended the same way so still ahead.
-
Not to mention their sponsor, still Opel is still Vauxhall in the Uk isn't it ?
-
But if you believe what is shown in other posts on ths thread 20 million outright isn't on offer anyway, it's apparently (or so we're told) 15 to 18 million now and the rest in add ons which may or may not be realisable. If we want a clear 20 million now then Liverpool still have some way to go on their outright offer let alone convince Bournemouth to take less for their share..
