  1. How would I know . I don't read Malay or whatever it is they speak there so I've only got it second hand. According to Berita Harian he had been simulating flights to (and from) 5 specific Indian Ocean landing strips with runways at about 1000 metres. It could just be the local equivalent of the Morning Star for all I know but it's supposed to be a market leader for online press in that area. Anyway http://www.bharian.com.my/bharian/articles/5LANDASANDALAMSIMULATORDISIASAT/Article/
  2. Anyway, new "news" from a Malaysian rag (take it as you will). The pilot had been practising landings (and take-offs) on 5 specific "short" runways, 3 in the Indian Ocean (usual suspects) and 2 in Southern India. Once again probably just made up stuff to sell papers.
  3. Holland were absolutely woeful when they played the French a couple of weeks back, just totally clueless in defence and lackadaisical in attack. Might not have been their usual side for all I know but some of the players that they used wouldn't get a game in the PL. No doubt the return of Robben might buck them up a bit but their defence was just so bad that they'll need to score 6 or 7 to hope to win any WC games.
  4. We don't have a head coach, we have a first team manager, his assistant and a first team coach. As for the rest I don't much care as long as we can finance it all without it being a burden on team finances. We've made a few little economies of late I think, something to do with global sponsorship etc, a few more quid on the shirt sponsorship and we'll probably be quids in anyway. Still don't understand why the rest of the Liebherr family (ie the other half) won't give us shirt sponsorship . It wouldn't do them any harm and as for giving us more than the 300K pittance that the others are said to give us it would just be chickenfeed to them. Especially as they're said to have increased sales because many seem to mistakenly connect them with Saints.
  5. After 9/11 691 miles is close enough for an unidentified aircraft, they don't like being spied upon and they are absolutely neurotic about getting hit again in that way. They'd have been tracking it way,way out. Gan is much further away than that IIRC, probably nearer 500 miles from DG. Anyway the story just sounds like utter crap, just wanted to get themselves onto the front page somewhere or other.
  6. No, he's not a football expert he's an ex football club chairman. Cortese was a good chairman/CEO, probably knew a minimal amount about football.
  7. And it's only taken them 10 days to remember all of that, yeah right. If the aircraft was anywhere near Diego Garcia then it would be known to those on the bases there and everyone else all the way up the chain of command. If it got too close then the what F14s would have been put up and if the aircraft refused instruction it would have been downed if it was considered a threat.
  8. Anyway rare would be the case where a 65 year old and a 54 year old went to the same school at the same time, unless it was one of these complete schools where pupils range from 5 to 19 or so.
  9. Perhaps that's why Hodgson is at most of our games of late. Jack in the England job after the WC, sporting director at Saints.
  10. nope complete silence apparently, not one text, instagram, weibo or anything. Apparently the first turn was programmed into the auto pilot as well.
  11. Not much imagination there though, we'll be looking outside the PL I expect. We need a keeper, a left back, a striker and an AM, maybe even a CB, doubt if any of them will be very well known to any of us. Expect a bit of germanic influx myself, don't know why Fancy us to try for Ramos from Berlin though, totally wasted on them.
  12. He can't just quit, Arsenal would have to come up with the money, which they weren't willing to do in January. They are just so cheapskate that they eventually signed Kim Kallstrom knowing full well he had a back injury that would keep him from playing for at least 2 months. Doesn't matter now though they're out of Europe.
  13. Well although it's not the same sort of case I can confirm that 2 lads were convicted of trashing my BMW in a hotel car park in Oswestry or something and although they were supposed to pay me a tenner a week for 20 years or something I never ever received a penny because they were declared insolvent shortly afterwards. They did it because they were drunken knobs and had nothing better to do, fortunately the insurance actually paid me eventually after I obtained a statement from the courts that they were never likely to pay.
  14. As per usual Obama has by now found out that he controls precisely nothing. Anyway this came from last month, wasn't the famous fùck the EU statement part of that conversation, certainly came from Nuland, hawkess in chief at State.
  15. Alpine isn't even miserable, he is just easily disappointed by poor performances where Saints are concerned. He did go to a few pre-season games when they were in his patch last summer.
  16. in the mean time I believe we have all banned 21 Russian and Ukrainian diplomats or something from our shores. What is the f*cking point of doing that, if they want to come to one of the countries that has "banned" them they'll just travel under a false name with state sponsored false doucuments, like their spies have been doing for these past 70 years.
  17. What do you mean his entire life, he works with multi-billionaires on a daily basis, he told us so last week. I'm surprised he's got time to instruct us riff-raff in the finer points of not winning many football matches.
  18. Not one of Glasgow's no. One of Jeff's perhaps. Club thanked me for my concern IIRC.
  19. I suggested controlling him by limiting the number of threads he (or anyone else) can start in a day.
  20. But this is where England lose out often enough, you need to have a solid career to get into the England Senior side so unless you're a Luke Shaw or a Theo Walcott you probably don't get a call until you're well into your twenties. Wales,Scotland etc they take anyone with a pair of boots as soon as they can climb out of their pram by themselves and give them a run out in a meaningless WC qualifier against Gibraltar or something. Now I've no idea if Bale's 4 grandparents were all welsh or his parents or anything but it could well have been that he might have an England qualification somewhere but as he got sucked into the Wales set-up at an early age England lost out and he'll never play in a major international tournament.
  21. Smash and Grab are Saint's legends, they should be in the banner. McDougall was with us for about 2 seasons, scored 42 goals, Boyer 3 seasons scored 49.
  22. Ted McDougall and Phil Boyer cost a fair bit (in 1970's reckoning), but nothing compared to their scoring record for us.
  23. I mean take last week, he spammed about 4 threads with exactly the same post, Jimmy D told him to knock it off, probably did for about an hour or so. Then again it's up to the rest of us not to read anything he posts or anyone who reacts to anything he posts. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?49409-Ralph-Krueger-Chairman/page4#.Uycii6h5OSo
  24. Guly's contract runs out at the end of June, unless of course it's been extended that is. I think we have seen too many young saints "stars in the making" fall by the wayside over the years to have any illusion whatsoever about the forthcoming fate of those who haven't made the grade by the age of 21 or so. The more venerable amongst us remember Les Harwood,Mark Peters and many others. You have to be bloody good to play in the PL, if you haven't shown it by the time you're 21 after 10 years or so in various academies you'll probably never make it.
  25. Not from a "resident pilot's" view but do any of these wild speculative theories ever try to work out what someone is doing with 239 souls in the middle of nowhere, to feed them and keep them from running away would need an incredible logistic set up in advance and there would be traces of it somewhere. The actual answer is probably far simpler, hijacked for a terrorist attempt,Indian ocean carrier maybe, Yanks (or Chinese take your pick) saw it and downed it where it will probably never be found.
