It appears Sir Rickie is not playing to his usually high standards
Window Cleaner replied to Rasiak-9-'s topic in The Saints
Lambert probably won't go to Brazil so don't throw a wobbly when you find that out. Rooney,Sturridge,Sterling,Welbeck as likely as not. -
Their side was better than ours where it mattered, in front of goal.
-
so in fact we'd have gone into the next round just 3 days after a load of our players would have been scattered around the globe running their legs off trying to impress national team selectors, is that right ? Too much is too much, explains a lot, might as well go out today. We of course don't know the likely call ups but no doubt the club has a list of pre-selections already, players don't just get a phone call a couple of days before telling them that they're in or out.

apparently that is no reason not to play your starting XI game in game out, no injuries or fatigue tolerated whatsoever. We lost this game when we put out the only realistic side we have available on Tuesday night and kept the engine room on the pitch for 100 minutes or so. We should have signed a couple of new players in January, surely it's not hard to find a couple of lads who are better than Guly and Jos because there you don't need to be a Brazilian international to fit the bill. Cost cutting at work, there's your reason for today's loss. -
Winning this game didn't get us to the Cup Final, it got us to the 6th Round and probably another tough game with Cardiff home pushed back into mid-week I think.
-
Nevertheless there was clearly no intention of playing him and we just don't have anyone else at CB now do we.
-
TV money, we got no prize money for this round 247,500£ TV money each, they get the 180,000£ prize money. you get far more money for a televised PL game though and one place higher in the league gets you nearly the entire amount of getting Wembley in the Cup I think.
-
The person who replaced him is to blame, who that might be I have no idea. It's all been one big f*ck up so I no longer know who does what.
-
Would you play with those stud marks all down your leg? He might have wanted to, it would not have been wise and the docs might have proscribed it anyway. He was never going to come on, he was on the bench to make up the numbers purely because we have no-one else, not the first time it's happened this season either.

QUOTE=Hopkins;1883978]Can we just get one thing straight and out of the way. The team selection was not disrespectful to the fans. Not only do you pay for a ticket, knowing full well that someone else is going to pick the team and therefore you might not agree with it but they have hardly disguised the fact that there would be changes have they? Every round of every competition has seen similar changes this season, and at any opportunity anyone at the club is asked about the cup they have talked about how it's a chance to "give the other players an opportunity". If anyone paid and traveled to that game expecting to see a full strength team then it's their own fault. The performance from the players picked on the other hand.... Anyway when the ticket is half of it's normal price you can only expect half of the normal side right ??:smug:

I worked out ( on the back of a fag packet of course) that this January's outs and the definitive transfer of Puncheon to Palace will bring in and save somewhere around 4 million from now to June. I really think we could have got a loan striker for a wee bit of that. I'll not be surprised when and if either club or key players when are sold this summer. She's sold everything else why should SFC be any different.
-
It's not that I don't give a toss because I would have liked to have won but I can see why we lost and can understand it at least. When I see Jos and Davis in the side I expect the worst anyway.
-
You need to stop harping on about Sunderland's side being nearly all replacements, Giaccherini and Borini are both full Italian internationals, Larsson is an international, so is Craig Gardener isn't he ? They have a better squad than us and Poyet knows how to use it to their advantage. When Guly is a Brazilian international and JWP is captaining England then people can come back to me and moan about the players "should be winning it". We have 14 fit senior pros and 2 or 3 goods U21s. The reason for our loss today is there and nowhere else. We need more players that's all, the manager knows that and no doubt feels that the "board" let him down this January. One inOne out is what he said which turned into 2 out and none in. If we had gotten 2 replacements in today's result might have been different. Never mind parking is free for 15 extra minutes now.
-
Sorry but a team with Guly,Jos and JWP can never be expected to be particularly performant. They are not of the required standard, Lambert was awful and for my opinion he is finished, he's just hoping to cruise his way to Brazil but unless he bucks up a bit he'll be out of the England side.
-
There's no break for the next round of the FA Cup it would mean league games being put back into midweek again. It's bad enough already that there are internationals in mid-week soon and we'll no doubt have 6 or 7 lads on parade for those. You can only expect so much from your players, especially as a number of them will be hoping to go to Brazil in June as well. Jeez do you people not see the reason for the recent decline in Arsenal and even Citeh's performances, the WC is already influencing the comportment of some players. As we approach the end of the season you'll see more and more substandard games from players you'd expect better from. Only the other day Suarez was going on about how he's playing scared that he might pick up an injury that will stop him going to Brazil.
-
Not really, Adam looked dead beat after 20' and didn't look himself at all, mind you with Lambert and Guly doing absolutely nothing he was ploughing a lone furrow. We had a toughy on Tuesday after a toughy last Saturday, we just don't have the players necessary to handle 3 toughies with long voyages between 2 of them, that's what I've been telling you all most of the week. the chairwoman needs to sort it out as Cortese would have done. It's no use having a bean counter and a rank amateur running a PL football club.
-
I think Bordeaux got fined for doing that actually.
-
Meaning that the missing elements weren't available then; Makes sense Morgan,Jay and Jack looked dead beat at the end on Tuesday and Jose's leg looks wicked. Just leaves that old f@rt of a keeper, there there something not quite right.
-
We have an excellent chance of finishing 7th actually.
-
Probably doesn't care anyway, he'll as likely as not not be here next season. It will just take the sale of one first teamer and he'll be off. Don't think he was very happy about Osvaldo being given away and no replacement being signed.
-
They have decent replacements though don't they, I mean wouldn't it be handy to have Larsson and Wickham in reserve and a couple of those Italian fellas as well? Our squad is far too weak, we've been cost cutting of late and it's left us with nothing. Never mind you get 15 minutes extra free parking though don't youy and Franny and Matty can get in free.
-
I really don't know what you all expected, we have a team and a couple of adequate replacements, all the rest is U21 level or substandard junk. Don't blame the players for that, blame whoever is in charge of recruitment policy, be it the manager, the "head of recruitment" or the person now masquerading as chairperson. We should never have let Osvaldo go without an adequate replacement because Lambert is finished.
-
We need to take Wanyama and the utterly useless JWP off and put Jack and Morgan on. They are the basis of our side, everything comes from them.
-
Anyway with the TV money at 247500£ per side for this game it's like selling about 30000 tickets at 15£ anyway.

Sunderland away FA CUP build up thread
Window Cleaner replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Boruc doesn't do cup matches, he doesn't do the bench and we have to give the old fool a game from time to time, probably some sort of wierdo labour law or other.
