Sunderland away FA CUP build up thread

We might well win but to me their side looks better position for position than ours, I'm afraid that Giaccherini and Borini will be far too good for Jos. -

Who was saying that...oh right the FA Cup before everything,we'll win because we're better than them dreamers, the great and wise said we'd not put out our strongest team for this game because many players looked absolutely shattered after the win at Hull. I really do wonder if some people actually take note of what they see when watching games because it was obvious at the end of Tuesday's game that some of our regulars would be in no state to start today and so it transpires.. -

Not even 25, just now we have a squad of 14 fit senior pros (including 2 keepers) and 3 or 4 good young players. When a couple of the regulars are knackered or get knocks we're scrapng the barrel. Still perhaps we'll have Gaston and Dejan available again next week but I feel we've really let the squad become far too small. -

Just like I said, Morgan and Jack were both looking dead at the end of Tuesday's game and Morgan was hobbling. Too many games, too few players. Might turn out alright but we'll be lacking their drive and composure . -
because they weren't televised anywhere in the world. this game is certainluy on BT Sports and BeIN sports so there will be the feeds on which streams depend.

I'm still reserving judgement until I see the teams. -
Don't they have Curbishley there looking after the recruitment ? He obviously didn't rate Meulenstein, and correctly so. The bloke has no management experience apart from being SAF's boot boy (happened exactly the same with Queiroz) and his time at Fulham was a disaster. Assistants manage feck all at Utd, well apart from making the tea and booking golf courses that is. Man U was a one man band under SAF and since he's been gone we've seen that there's no other team managemnt structure left behind.

Three managers in a season rarely ends well. He'll find that the PL is far more complex than the Bundesliga, no bad sides in the PL, well except for Fulham that is.

In fact she could probably sell the component parts for more than the club. Anyway the player Citeh are lining up is Matuidi from PSG, out of contract in June and it will only take a 10 million £ signing bonus to obtain his services. Why pay 15 million to another club when you can pay 10 million direct to the horse.
-
Yes you'd go past Moulins if you were on the N7, you go round it if you follow the signs but in fact it's far quicker to ignore them and go through the centre, it's just a one horse town really and you can fuel up at Leclerc on the way out. Football in France outside the epicentres like Lyon,Marseille and Paris is slowly dying a death because well not to put too fine a point on it you might as well go and watch a match in Mali or Burkina Faso. Crowds are ridiculously low and it's only public money that keeps most clubs afloat. The Championship is a one horse race and all but 2 of the French national starting X1 play outside France, it's about money and there isn't any in France just now.

Moulins is about 80 miles up the road from here, I've even been there recently, they really aren't very good and yet they beat Toulouse. I've not seen anything of Pompey lately but they can't be much worse than Moulins who'd be about what conference level really. Being 12th in Ligue 1 means nothing at all when you take into account how bad sides like Sochaux,Ajaccio and Valenciennes really are. They'd not survive in the Championship.
-
Well yes of course but we picked him up when he was just out of youth level and got to work on his talents before they were wasted. Compare him to say Yanga Mbiwa or whatever he's called, Newcastle signed him on as a current French Ligue 1 champion and full international and it took them about a month to work out that it all looks good on paper but the lad has no capacity for learning and improving whatsoever.
-
Of course, then again when you have 3 minutes of video footage complied from 2 or 3 season's play it's unsurprising. Now imagine a Lambert video, do you think they'd put in the 2 misses from Tuesday evening...well no, they'd put in the free kick against Stoke and perhaps the goal against Fulham. That's why these videos have no value whatsoever.
-
No because they have very few French players. Until Cabaye signed on Qatar FC usually fielded just one French player (Matuidi). Monaco have a couple more, oldies mainly who've seen better days just there for one last bumper payday but then again they're not in the CL yet, will be next season. They'll then flood the side with more Colombians, Brazilians, Italians or Venezuelans or whatever have yous as PSG have done..

French domestic football in general is of an atrociously low standard, that's why all the best French players take a hike out of it as soon as they possibly can. It's more African football than French really. Salaries are low and contracts are short, that's why anyone with an ounce of promise can just walk out and sign for a German, Spanish,Italian club or Newcastle whenever they fancy it. When most of them then find out that the required level is way beyond their meagre capacities they come crawling back for even less money. There are a few exceptions but not many.

As should be all Americanisation of the English Language really.

It's not about us playing 2 games in a week per se, it's about having to play an away game more than Sunderland, who have more replacements available, in the same time. We have no margin for error, they do. Plus you lose a midweek game in League 1 and it's not the end of the world, you lose a FA Cup 5th rounder and it kinda is...well as far as the cup is concerned anyway.
