  1. no it's 5 years residence after the age of 18, being a scholar or not has nothing to do with it. After 5 years you become eligible to become a UK national (you have to ask for it though) and if you take that road you can play for your adopted nation unless you've played in an official competiton for another nation at senior level.
  2. I am not sure that international friendlies count as official matches.
  3. It is possible, only official senior matches count as prohibitory. Diego Costa played for Brazil U21s and he's now chosen Spain. The rules are clear, 5 year's residence after the age of 18 and no senior call up.
  4. Suggests to me that the wheels are probably already in motion then; Morgan would need to write to the FA stating that he wants to play for England (if he does that is) and renounce any possibility of playing for France. I know he's a bit of a patriot but it depends just how much longer he's prepared to carry on being slapped in the face by the FFF and see inferior players tried out for the national side, there is a limit to everything. English football has given him everything that he has so he could eventually take the same attitude as Diego Costa. If MP has spoken about it it's no doubt because he's discussed it with Hogson or his team.
  5. The Milton couldn't exist in today's football, people would be awanting to bring women and kids in there and that would be sort of fatal for them. On a good day when the team were playing well you got knocked about a fair bit in the Milton when everybody surged forward. If you were so unfortunate (or stupid) to take your young lady there she'd probably got felt up by about 3000 blokes on a good day (well presumably for her it was). There was one regular in there, Christine I think her name was, blond girl from down Fareham way, she absolutely loved it, police suggested to her that she might be better off in the Archers but she was having none of it.
  6. Title race ? maybe not but we are in the mix for a top 6 finish, much will depend on our next 2 games. If we get nothing from them we could be lower top half again, 2 draws could see us maintain a top 6 challenge. I thought Arsenal looked fragile yesterday and Ramsey seemed to have run out of oofle dust and was back to his old sh*t self. Still they had a hard game on Wednesday and that could explain it.
  7. So, things are looking up for us Eagles followers. A couple of wins over not too good looking teams have put us back into contention in the NFC East, if only Foles hadn't been such a wimp against Dallas we'd have it wrapped up by now. Still a win over the Boys next time should do the trick .
  8. Crap player, bad attitude. 2 reds and 5 yellows in about 8 games this season. Not the sort of player you need really.
  9. Thanks, I always made a point of trying to finish before the first lady, now it's more like the first great gran.
  10. Zouma is an animal, any decent club wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Just picked up a 10 match suspension for one of the worst tackles you'd not want to see.
  11. Pointless, wouldn't get a game for us any more than he would for Arsenal, we do not play with wingers. Won't be much movement at all for us, better reserve keeper perhaps and a stand-by left back, that'll be it.
  12. So Bardsley scores again, 2nd goal in 2 games, don't think he'd ever scored for them before. Great move by Mauricio, playing our bis XI, boosted their confidence and allowed Bardsley to learn how to score.
  13. Gaston is with the Uruguay side, they play in Turkey and then in Montivideo, both games against Jordan of course. Probably released him early as they play on Wednesday at 6 and not at the end of the week like other sides.
  14. Can't really see Spurs and Citeh not winning so that would put us back to 5th.
  15. He'll need time to be consistent, don't need to be in the SPL. A couple of difficult'ish games a season and the rest are just walkovers where Celtic just need to turn up.
  16. Cups are dead anyway, unless you have a big 4 plethoric squad you'll as likely as not end up struggling for survival or even getting relegatd if you take cups seriously. Of course you might get a pathway like us in 03 and come out of it well but there are far too many cup run casualties to attest to the perils of a long cup campaign in our day and age. Wigan, Birmingham, Portsmouth
  17. Surely the whole point of the Poppy Appeal is to raise funds for the British Legion, why people buy them is totally irrelevant. I always get one sent from home, pay my 2 quid and then I wear it to work, amuses the French no end, 2 colleagues asked for them this year as well , I told them it was 5 euros minimum, my sister paid 10 £ for the 3, euros will do for her next visit.
  18. Most young men thought it their duty to go whether they were poor or rich. My late old grandad was a Somme survivor, he went with all his cronies from the Gas Works, few came back but he once told me that none of them considered not enlisting even though most of them were far too young but they just lied and the War Office didn't check.
  19. The author of the piece who bangs on about the impoverished having to accept the King's Shilling should take a turn around some Cambridge and Oxford colleges and see the names of the thousands of young men of those colleges fallen between 1914/18.
  20. It's not the clubs per se, it's about equal treatment for the 4 clubs that have 2 away games in 3 days.
  21. Thing with the Europa League is that you can probably go to Krasnodar (wherever that might be) with your bis 11 and actually get a result, can't do that at Sunderland or Hull. Still think if we'd played Gazzaniga we had a better chance of a result.
  22. because they didn't. Sociedad bid somewhere around 16 million euros but he didn't fancy it, neither did Nicola so it was turned down illico. Arsenal did not bid, they just made enquiries as to the asking price but as they were going to blow 50 million on Ozil and still had hopes of Suarez they couldn't muster anywhere near the Swans required, took Flamini on a freebee.
  23. At a guess I'd say it's all about teams with 2 away games not playing away on Thursday and again on Saturday. Saints are away twice as are Arsenal,Liverpool and Stoke and now all are away on the Sunday and not 2 on Sunday and 2 on Saturday. so for the players and supporters there's a 2 full day break between the games to allow for deplacements.
  24. Cork looked pretty ordinary last night, lack of games perhaps but I suspect that playing with a better partner made him look better than he actually is.
  25. They had some pretty iffy results in November January and February though, coped pretty well in December, then again they only had 5 league games. They entered the EL after being eliminated from the CL pretty dismally.
