If Bristol city have an annual salarial mass of 12.7 million £ can you imagine what ours must be? We were somewhere up around 11 million in our first year in League 1, since then we've got promotion and extended contracts for most players,no doubt with substantial salary spikes. We would have had to give Pardew a fair wodge and then pay for Nigel.Even with great gates and all the add ons we'll still be losing money, we're a premier league set up in the NPC,trouble is there's 35 million per annum of sky money missing. Our problem is that we have far too many players out injured, I very much doubt if they get just NHS sick pay you know, when you're paying injured players for 12 months a year and then again for new players to replace them you're in the brown. It's what led to the downfall of the last regime.Jaidi,Seaborne,Barnard...that's about 25K each week that goes out of the window for very little return, takes a lot of fans through the gate to just pay for that, cos there's VAT on football tickets so the £22 you pay means about £17 into the club's coffers and a fiver for HMRC.Takes about 3000 fans every home game just to pay the salaries of injured players.

For the nth time, the academy side are playing at Bolton in the Youth Cup on Tuesday 11th Jan, they will not be available for the FA Cup methinks, as for the development squad it's not even a whole team without first team reservists. We will have to go with a mix of senior players and "the reserves".

It's not a case of walking it in,our opposition closes us down most of the time,if you look at the game yesterday a lot of Brighton's efforts became possible because we didn't close them down quickly enough, Cork the main culprit in the cases leading to both goals.Dickson used to do the same last year, just ball watch until it was too late and then make a half-hearted lunge. Cork should have shut Sparrow down but he didn't.Most professional footballes can stick it in one of the top corners from 30 yds if they get a freebie,we never seem to get that room.

Never mind, they'll make do with a couple of second raters in Pato and Kaka, 60+ million euros on the table, they only wanted Beckham to sell shirts anyway and maybe get free tickets for the Olympics. -
Seb comes from Toulon and has spent the vast majority of his career southwards of London. Perhaps we could get Jos to send him photos of Southampton's palm trees on twitter.

On loan until 8th January so that lets Saturday out. Don't even joke about him replacing Jos,anyway isn't Jaidi back in training now and has been for about 3 weeks.

Used to think he was quite a decent player actually, he was at Monaco and then again with Valence (or was it Villareal) but at Arsenal he's never really shown anything like the same form, but that happens to a lot of players at Arsenal, don't know quite why. I thought West Ham were supposed to be trying to get him on loan in November.

BBC clearly states that Doncaster say they've turned down a bid because it didn't meet the asking price.Whether they've got that right or not who knows.

Jol spoke about Zamora after yesterday's game, wants him to stay at Fulham apparently.
-
probably, isn't he a Fulham potential target as well.Mind you with Zamora and Dempsey that don't exactly need anyone just now.

Don't know how you can say so so definitely from the clip on the Nigel interview, for Nigel to say so himself he must have a better clip than that. don't forget that the ball (diameter about 9 inches) has to be entirely over the line whereas all we can see from that clip is the ball go towards the goal, hit the defender's foot and come back out. Some of the stills on the gallery would tend to show that there's no way that the entirety of the ball can be over the line but there again there's nothing really conclusive. -
to be honest I think you can forget about any player who's part of the Youth Cup team, they're at Bolton on Wednesday next.. Reckon we'll have at least our new striker in by then, the only positive point from yesterday is that Rickie's red might hurry that along a bit.

Of course it is, we are losing points by the shovel-load from goalkeeper error. -

Priority number 1 a new keeper Priority number 2 a new striker Priority number 3 a new central defender .... Priority number 447 ....A purple booted Japanse winger/striker -
Thing is we start most matches with 4 midfielders, if we're only getting contribution from 2 of them all of the time we will be fooked. If you look closely you'll see that in most games Fonte plays a sort of very deep midfield role leaving the other 2 some time and space to launch the assaults, if he's not there then everything changes, it becomes 3 or 4 of theirs against 2 of ours. What must be remembered is that whoever are playing in the advanced midfield roles they are still midfielders who must contribute to the effort in that sector.

Haven't seen it yet of course but I wouldn't mind betting it was a bobbling daisy cutter,he has a definite weakness against that sort of effort. -
