The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..
Window Cleaner replied to SB's topic in The Saints
He did more in the 20 or so minutes that he was on for against West Ham than Le Fondre will probably do in the season. You don't need a "first touch" when you can bury shots in the back of the net first time from 20 yards. Good with his head as well. -
Here's a little statistic for you. Sharp 13 starts + 2 subs Guly 24 starts + 1 subs So Guly has played nearly twice as much football as Sharp.I'd like to see how Sharp will be looking with 25 games in his legs.

Leeds are shîte, didn't Reading beat them at home the other day.Other than that I think West Ham will explode, aren't they losing a few players to the ANC soon?
-
Speaking of chavishness, what's all those chavs with custom cars on Tesco Western Esplanade parking all about then ? Went past there the other day, flashing lights, rap and a distinct odour of hash abounded.

He's at Leicester or is it Norwich, can't remember but he's not at Huddersfield now. -

We'll have to see, personally I'd forget both of them and ask Reading to name their price for Church but that's just my opinion. -

If you're expecting Sharp and LJ I expect you will be extremely disappointed. -
On looking more closely at the photo I'd say Pompey should have had a penalty anyway, Richardson and Davis both seem to be holding back the most advanced Pompey player.
-
I've just seen the game after 4 days on the road and it would seem to me that Lallana has no idea of how to defend, when his man is going for the ball he's wandering away towards the Portsmouth goal,no attention paid to what's happening whatsover.Mind you he's not a defender is he.Plus an old fashioned keeper would probably have come out for the first ball and certainly for the second.
-
For the first offences in the season yes, subsequent straght red and 2 yellow occasions are rewarded by 1 more match each time. So if you've already had a straight red and you get 2 yellows it becomes a 2 match ban, another straight red earns you a 4 stretch. Same for the 5/10/15 cards accumulated.

I see Doncaster beat Leicester today, 2 goals from Sharp, kept telling you all that with their new (and no doubt temporary) recruits Donny don't have a bad side at all. Now if we'd signed M-A Fortune to plug our wide right hole for a month or so it wouldn't have been such a bad thing. As for Beye.....far far better than any defender we have.

I have no idea whether he'd be a realistic target but for me I'd sign Simon Church before any of the other hotshots mentioned. Really impressed me for Reading against West Ham, a very complete striker. What would be his price...roughly? -
Dunno Cardiff at home, Boro away for us yet to come.
-
A goal from Barnsley is about all we need for a quasi-perfect scenario, provided that the results all stayed that way.

I'm sure I spotted Racine on the build up video along with another young player that I didn't recognise, could have been JWP.

I don't think you're quite right there, it has been recently stated that Pearce will send out letters to players of all home nations that he considers desirable for his team. After that I think it's down to individual players whether they accept or not.The other Home Countries federations might not be all for the idea but that won't stop their players being invited to participate
-
not enough Scots, anyway no Euro player will be selected. It will be a poor team in any case.

Thing is if a referendum was held in France today on EEC membership we'd probably opt out as well.Sarko has just started a new "buy French" campaign, don't know if it will be of the essor of the "Buy British" campaign back in the 60s (or 70s) though. Yer average "homme dans la rue" is beginning to believe that we are being invaded by cheap Chinese trash for goods and Africans for everything else. It's not for nothing that the Front National who are completely devoid of any tangible political credibility are polling at above 21%. The French want change but they don't want the Socialists because that will just lead to more immigrants and more public cash given to them. The French adopted the initial Maastricht Treaty by something like 50.2 to 49.8 with a general feeling that Mitterand had made sure that he didn't lose by any means necessary because Maastricht was the Mitterand/Delors "cheval de bataille".

Out of interest, has this bubble system actually been used anywhere before?
-
Good move, hope that the OB aren't making enquiries of Pompey's TO at this very moment though.Purchase would be very easily traced even with the limited details you give.
-
Make that 2 then, Old Man Beckham will take the ball home if they don't let him be in the squad. Only Cork has a realistic (and even then not very realistic) chance of being in the GB group. It will be stuffed full of Scots and Welsh, 'bout time they'll only get into a major(?) international competition.

Southsea or the Ex ??:uhoh:
-
To be exact Sarko was only 3 points behind in the first round polls published today. One you'll like is that Marine Le Pen of the Front National is polling at 20% ,4 behind Sarkozy. If the situation gets much worse she could even make the 2nd round, just like her dad in 2002,might even do a bit better as well. The French want change but they don't really want the Socialists either

Must have been to 4 or 5 Pompey-Saints games there, played there for Southampton Boys and have been to a few Non Saints Pompey games in the fairly distant past as well.
