why should it not be legal, plenty of people make home made wine and beer. Now if you tried to sell the resulting product without paying alcohol duty that would be illegal. NB still has to be less than 5 litres capacity apparently, product for personal consomation uniquely...not even your mates.

strange how tube drivers are now so well remunerated isn't it. When I was at Uni in the 70s LU were falling over themselves to hire and train people to become tube drivers, they just couldn't find enough candidates. I had a Uni mate who applied and went to the interviews, they were so desperate they were even willing to hire him and train him and let him work on a part time basis in case he ever got kicked out of Imperial (yep that used to happen if you weren't up to scratch)

I once came across an eminent ecologist who took the stance that we are continually meddling with ecosystems. Now according to him (won't name him,you can look it up if you're really interested,it must be in the public domain somewhere) we shouldn't try to heal the sick in Africa (or elsewhere) or eradicate naturally occuring diseases or try to prevent or minisimise natural disasters. So you see not all ecologists are Mr Nice Guys.

Not to mention your personal favourite. All these yellows are going to cost us with another 3 games before the amnesty. Can't see any of those 3 going 3 games without a yellow so we're going to have to hope Chappers is soon back to fitness and even then make do and mend a bit. To be honest the thought of Jos + Martin in CD against Bristol City gives me the shakes so it would be best if Fonte gets a yellow against Skate rather than Palace. De Ridder...don't really care and Morgan will always be a great loss in any game .

800 rejections wow, does that mean that 25% of applicants couldn't fill in a simple form and provision their account correctly or that there were more applications that tickets available? -
What you need is to put all those tech college 'universities' back to what they are ..tech colleges, start putting them back to City + Guilds and HNDs and whatever and leave the real Unis to people who are intelligent enough and have the capacities to partake of serious study.

But that's how it boils down, people who work over their 35 hours have what is commonly known as RTT (recuperation temps du travail). Because of the needs of most enterprises and government departments you can't just work 7 hours each day so you run over, then you have to take days off to catch it up because it's time that cannot by law be financially compensated.Loads of people here work 8-18 hrs (lunchtime doesn't count) Mon-Friday and then need to take time off every other week. It's a system that doesn't work very well in practice although it does in theory. Mme Aubry is a socialist dreamer and only the theory counts for her.
-
Well hello to you Mme Aubry, a fat lot of good the 35 hour week did us here in France. The theory behind this was that if everybody worked 4 hours less (about 10% of previous working time) each week for the same salary a total of 10% of the total number of jobs would be created "en plus". All it's done is too cost employers more for less, they haven't created many new posts for several reasons. The main one being that it has shown that even by working 10% less the same amount of work can be done anyway, especially in the public sector. What it has done is deprive the majority of French workers of any significant pay rises,I work for the EU,I get about 2% cost of living rises plus merit bonuses, my wife works for the French Government and gets pay rises of just 1% or so each year. Combined with a minimum wage of 9.19 euros an hour the 35 hr week has totally destroyed France's ability to create jobs without public funds being invested in them.

Yep, all we need for that is another almost empty island of about Australia's size.Needs to be somewhere where English is the principal language and they have the X-Factor on TV though. This is one of the UK's problems the vast majority of it's "workers" are not internationally mobile.
-
Which is why of course a house the size of a cardboard shoe box (and probably made of similar material) costs you what 400K in London's suburbs.
-
Which is sort of what i was saying on the transfer targets thread earlier on. To play for Saints now you have to be bloody good and consistently at that.We can find loads of players who appear to be good enough based on 1 game but on a consistent basis...not so much.
-
But why ??

Just as well, they're all skint, Nigel made them empty their pockets to contribute to the presents at the kids hospital yesterday....or apparently so anyway.

true, I wonder what the TO are doing with his "ticket" well the one he can't afford anyway. I think they do have tickets in hand but can't work out how to sell them or the OB won't let them. All in all it's a complete balls up. -
I don't know;Guess we'll find out on the build up video unless there are any photos on the OS of the team's hospital visit yesterday before that. Hoskins and Forte went to Preston for a month, that period has elapsed now so unless it's been extended they should be back with us. Forte played in 3 or 4 games with Preston I think

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

I think McGugan had a reasonable season last year when Forest had something approaching a decent side and a decent manager but I don't think he's done very much at all this season so far.Mind you they were mad to sack Davies and then eventually replace him with Cotterilll via McClaren, guess it's about money for transfers being available or not, that seems to be the root of half of the managerial sackings and resignations these days. Saints seem to be a bit choosy about who they sign and under what conditions nowadays, wouldn't be surprised if we only see 2 signings in january, a mid range, mid price striker and a youngish centre back; maybe even on loan. -

Doesn't sound very likely, Puncheon won't want to go to a relegation threatened club, it's too far north and Forest want a genuine striker.Anyway from the little that I know about McGugan he's probably not good enough to play for us anyway. We don't need another penalty and dead ball king. -
ah well looks like ESB isn't getting lucky after the match on Sunday then.Probably just as well.
-
Now I'm sure it wouldn't beyond the imagination of some of our posters to take the same tune and make us up a obscene little ditty by substituting Portsmouth for Portswood.
-
I thought it was pretty nifty, very catchy little ditty. Then again i was a student for 7 years...just like these young people and know that you have to amuse yourself as best you can during that time.

Wouldn't think there are many Pakistanis in Wallonie actually, plenty of people of Morrocan and Algerian descendance though.

Trouble is it's becoming increasingly difficult on this forum to differentiate between the continual p*ss takers and the real morons.

Rich's Farmhouse Cider is the best that I've ever had, doubt if you can get it around Southampton though.

Hmmm, And I dreamed I saw the bombers, jet planes riding shotgun in the sky,(they were turning into butterflies above our nation). Is all that really necessary, really??
