  1. Oxo was pretty nifty on the defensive side, don't think De Ridder possesses that attribute as of yet. De Riddler is an enigma to me,he wasn't always a starter at De Grafschaap you know, there are a lot of sub appearances in his only 1st division season there and he didn't score a lot of goals in that one season either. Most of his starts(and goals) came the season before when they were in a lower league. It's true he's quick and has a certain address in front of goal but his stamina is obviously questionable as are the 4 yellows he's gotten already. Now in Holland I don't think he got booked very often, probably because he wasn't required to track back or tackle.Mind you De Grafschaap were pretty sh*t last season.
  2. perhaps it's not the ticket office that are running the checks
  3. Probably nothing to do with the ability of the player, more a problem of Celtic and their tea-boy manager. He might well understand Scottish football but the few minutes european action that I've seen of them tells me that there Lennon is completely out of his depth. He's a dinosaur so they play prehistoric football.
  4. liked that, especially the references to some Saint's fans living in the past and not appreciating just what they've got now and the bit about the sending off tackle winning the VC in 1971. Football has changed, trouble is some of our fans just don't get the "new fangled" stuff. I saw a reference earlier on in this thread to the fact that we stand off and don't go lunging into tackles the instant the opposition get the ball, that's because that's the way the coaches and manager want the game played rather than any personal choice of the player. You're absolutely firkin useless dumped on you ass or sitting in the changing room because you've copped 2 yellows for desperate tackles.
  5. I don't think we do rely on Chaplow all that much, he's done a really useful job in RM because he adds something going forward and something defensive as well. He's only been playing the position since the Boro game though and we'd had good results before that. Chaplow in an attacking role helped to offset the lack of Lallana for the games he was missing, it also allowed Guly to move into a more central role that Connolly had been looking sharp in before he got injured/knackered. Thing is now that Chappers is out for a while we can't necessarily move Guly back to his role on the right unless we can rely on Barnard to play the 90 and get some results at it.De Ridder ?? well you all tell me because I don't think Nigel knows what to do with him either,he's not really a goalscorer and he's not really a wide man.Not sure that you can have Lallana and De Ridder starting in the same side.
  6. As Jos was signed on loan before the close of the transfer window the deal can be made permanent at any time, window or no window.Emergency loans are different ,you have to wait for the next window to open to make them permanent. Jos was signed on loan on the 31 st August so the loan was always transformable at any time. Chaplow was a short term loan in September or October I think.
  7. Probably just hates the thought of the onset of winter....I know do. Mind you we're pretty lucky this year, last year by now we were in all the snow, ice and big sub zero temperatures, this year it's pretty mild for 1st December. Guly wouldn't have liked last winter, weren't we already in the 2nd Ice Age in early december with matches being postponed left right and centre? The thought of another one like that must be depressing for him.Probably already been on to the PFA hotline...mind you it seems mainly to be for gamblers who've lost their last 10 years earnings in a flutter on the nags.
  8. I would, Sunderland are in the crapper, they need someone with experience of the top flight because they don't have time for any initiation period.Hughes,Benitez or even Southgate.
  9. Aha, real donkeys then. I thought this was a thread about Burley's time with Saints.
  10. Be prepared to fight off a few Orcs then.
  11. Unlike the OS of course who persist in dressing up the same junk as stunning new information several times a week.
  12. Wouldn't count on them getting less money, they have probably made us pay for the full allocation.Didn't we do that to them the last time round.
  13. Why worry about Leicester, they've spent a lot of money but they just aren't all that good. If they're lucky they'll get 3rd or 4th and be favourites to win their first round play-off game but at 13 points behind us after only 19 games for automatic promotion they are toast.
  14. Apart from being on the honour roll what do you gain by winning the Championship that you don't from being second?? Is there any monetary prize?
  15. 14 away games left and if we can pick up points at the same rate as we have up to the present our home tally is extremely do-able. 12 from 9 would give us 18 or 19 away points from 14 games thus leaving us to get another 22 or 23 from our remaining 13 home games, why we could even lose a few and still have enough for automatic promotion.
  16. I don't doubt that it's the whole "bubble" thing that's made selling out difficult. Who'd want to do that, you just can't impose that sort of thing on people. You can offer the service but to make it mandatory is just asking for the "f*ck right off" reply.Plus it's too expensive. 4 people going to Skatesville in a car cost what a fiver in all? So you make them all pay an extra 15/18£ for being herded about like sheep....nah they've got it wrong.
  17. Perhaps Guly is just playing too many matches. After RL he's the player with the most game time on the counter.Think he's missed just 1 match in some role or other. Only RL and MS have participated in all the matches and Morgan hasn't started anywhere near as many as Guly. This is why SDR needs to step up and become a starting candidate instead of a 30/45 minutes bit player, then again he's never been much of a 90 minute man from what I can gather.
  18. In fact as it's Doncaster we might get away with trying something different if Rickie really isn't fit .
  19. Probably ate a few of those at Taunton's second form camp as well.
  20. Yum porridge, haven't had that since 2nd form camp at Taunton's, they made me eat it,just tipped a whole jar of jam into it each day.Even then it tasted like shîte.
  21. adebola, Isn't that the virus that the Sun claims eats your face.
  22. Firkin students, spend all your grant on cheap tickets, bugger the books and food.
  23. but Hull aren't us.Plus it was Hammond, no great loss.
  24. Hull aren't us though, plus they have to chase the game.
