the big question is the left side.. on one hand, we need width and protection for when players exploit wide positions against us (like bristol rovers did) but I can see what pardew is doing...he has lambert up pretty much as a lone striker so he needs players around him...hence why (probably) he plays mellis the way he does..

it is a tough one... gillingham were well under strength but then, you can only beat what is in front of you.. in the week...morgan was fantastic and he and hammond ran the middle of the park.... morgan does like to pick the ball of the centre backs and spread the play..but he is not really a tackler.. tough one

fair points...from what I have seen..i would be happy if we did a deal to keep trotter... one thing I did notice with the team..we (at last) have some pretty tough players...hammond is a farking beast at times..lambert is pretty big and and trottman, jaidi and thomas to that...

imo, right now Kelvin trottman Jaidi Harding Morgan Hammond lambert Lallana would look comfortable in most CCC teams not bad really and a good core to work with...

they were though.. i got a bit of stick (shocker) for saying I wanted to wait before claiming papa was any good....I was told he must be great as he plays for his country and came from CL fiorentina... I thought he looked poor tuesday night...the times he strayed offside looked like he had no idea...

9 points from safety with some pretty crap teams directly above us... would like to think (hope more like) we are clear of the relegation zone by xmas... not too unrealistic IMO...plenty of games between now and then...

of course..but they are very very few and usually have large sums of money at their disposal... 99% of the rest last about 2 seasons.. if pardew is not successful..IE no promotion to the CCC by the end of next season...then I would call that a failure and he will probably go

it was the other night...against a far better team than gillingham, hammond and morgan ran the middle of the park..hence we we were only ever out-done wide (and it was very wide) left...

I hope you are right as it has been a let down so far.. is the game on friday on sky...? would be nice to get back to back league wins..

i think you maybe right.. after watching him play wide right or left...it just was not working..but where he plays now (just off lambert) it is working wonders... he was superb at times in the week..
