I had the same problem getting my cardiff tickets, so ended up having to go to the ticket office.

Attendance Vs Blackpool 5th lowest in the league

But it would help if we had some money, as we wouldn't be desperate to offload players. Lets assume Lowe has got us into a financial position where we need to average 20,000 to break even. If we then go and average 15,000 we will have to reduce the wage bill by 25% and therefore get rid of 6 or 7 players. -
I agree with that. I don't know if it was due to there being more pressure to perform well today, if it was due to the heat and therefore inability to maintain the work rate and high tempo, or if it was because Blackpool were an organised and physical side who were able to stop us playing. Whatever the reason was we need to learn to deal with it and improve.

...after seeing the linesman with his flag up:rolleyes:

Well I was inside the stadium and didn't hear any booing towards the players until the final whistle had been blown. Towards the end of the game a lot of people were losing patience with the ref and were frustrated by Blackpools time wasting, which is what the booing was for. There was a chant of 'you dont know what you're doing', also aimed at the ref.

I usually go to Loftus Road and i think its one of the best away days in the division, mainly because we bring 3,000 every year, but £30 a ticket is far too expensive. I'll have to give it a miss and probably use the money on the Doncaster or Cov games instead.

My point was that every club is a selling club is a selling club if the price is right, and I agree 1.3 was not enough for Davies IMO. However you can't really complain that we haven't got value for money for other top players in recent years, eg. Bale, Walcott, Jones; as a championship club we couldn't have expected to get any more for them, and they wanted to go, especially Kenwyne Jones.

We're hardly in a position to hold onto players if a decent offer comes in. Even teams like spurs have had to sell their top players, ie. Keane and possibly Berbatov. If the player says he wants to go, ie. Andrew Davies, there is very little the club can do... even Real Madrid look set to loose Robinho, but then again Southampton are a much bigger and financially sound club than Real Madrid

Also back form the game, and what a game! We were outstanding, particularly in the second half, Derby couldn't get the ball off us. I agree with the comments about the team and Schneiderlin was my MOTM today, he will achieve great things in the future. Kelvin looked good in goal, he made a great save from their corner, but he didn't look confident on a couple of occasions. In the first half a hoofed ball forward bounced on the edge of the box, but both Svensson and Kelvin left it, putting their striker through 1 on 1. Also I still don't think Surman looks comfortable at LB, but James looks to be a solid right back. That win meant so much today, not only did we need it to kick-start our season, but it felt good to beat them after the play-off defeat. BTW song of the day had to be 'on the pitch'

Has he not had problems with hamstring injuries too? I just seems to me that he is always recovering from an injury, but I may be wrong.

sh*t team = no fans?

Ok so in that one game they scored more than they conceded, but what about the rest of the season? With the exception of R Wright (who was only here on loan) those players had planty of chances to prove how good they were, but time and time agian they failed to perform, content to take their astronomical wages, for very little work. 6 of those players started in our 5-0 defeat to sheff wed, a team that spent the season hovering above the relegation zone, 6 of them started in our 3-0 loss at home to watford, 6 of them started in our cup defeat to bristol rovers, 5 of them started our 5-0 defeat to hull, 7 of them started our home defeat to burnley....
-
no chance of the play off atmosphere, would be good to get 2,000 there but i doubt we'll get anywhere near that. I'll b going though, not too confident but then again derby haven't been playing too good recently either.

0-1 svensson last minute header ...well it would be nice...

If you love him so much why don't you marry him

I thought Thomas was awful when I saw him in the stoke game, but surely we cant tell half of the squad they are surplus to requirements. It seems like we must have said this to every senior player. What will we do if we cant sell them? We will be stuck with many players, who won't be playing, will be low on confidence and morale, so will be unable to come into the team if we suffer from injuries. This looks like a major problem in defence and attack. John and McGoldrick look like they will be our only strikers. Svensson, Perry and Lancashire are our only central defenders, two of which are injury prone. If the players that are 'surplus to requirements' are still training with the first team, surely they will have a negative impact on the squad. If they are training on their own, they will be unable to fill in when we have injuries/ suspensions.

Happy to see him off the wage bill. I never really rated him and couldn't stand watching him play as he was always the laziest player on the pitch and I don't think he was in Portvliets plans for this season.

32,000 came to the Sheff. Utd match and only half of them have come back. I agree saintkiptanui, we seem to have a lot of 'fans' who will only turn up for the big games, and birmingham aren't exactly a small club
-
"Just off the phone to the ticket office booking my birmingham tickets (i got my cardiff tickets last week) apparently there are about 600 tickets all told left for Cardiff and 21,000 sold for the birmingham home game the week after. That makes about 1,500 Saints fans in Wales on Saturday !!" http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=203 This was a week ago, so guessing a few more have been sold, maybe around 23,000-24,000

Birmingham main game on The championship on sunday.

i think you have to be in the UK for those virign media highlights to work. -
I think it could be a fairly high scoring game, and would love another 4-3 win like last time birmingham came to sms. hopefully i'm wrong but i think 2-3 birmingham. anyone got any idea what ticket sales are like?
-
I thought he looked really good against west ham, but was non-existant when we played cardiff. Looks like he could become a good player though.

I dont know which older players yoiu want to see in the team. I cant see any of them fitting into our new system. Its no use complaining that McGoldrick isn't up to the job, IMO rasiak or john would fail to even get the ball judging by the style of football we are playing. It was obvious from the stoke game that last seasons players haven't changed. They still lack motivation, intelligence amd the ability to create chances. At least when the youngsters play, you know they can create chances and undo defences with their intelligent link up play.
