The more I think about Phil Brown, the more I think that it would be a good appointment. He demands respect and he did a fantastic job at Hull. They played some good football and he made some good signings in the window with less money that what we have available to us here. I think he'd be ideal. If not, Tony Mowbray or Zola would be just as good.

Michael Kightly been left out of Wolves 25 man squad. Would be a good addition here but I reckon a championship club will snap him up pretty quickly.

See that Saints have only released the programme online for tonights game. There is not a single image of Pardew in it and there is notes from Wilkins and even the captains chat from Kelvin is written after the dismissal of Pardew.

Exactly, nowhere near enough experience. When Shearer was incharge of Newcastle he was only there for 8 games! 8 games in management! He picked up 5 points out of a possible 24! With players such as Enrique, Coloccini, Bassong, Alan Smith, Damien Duff, Obafemi Martins, Michael Owen, Viduka, Nolan, Gutierrez. 5 points is very poor. It would be a poor appointment here if he did come in. We need someone with at least 1 seasons management experience who can work with younger players and can create the "Southampton Style". Shearer IMO would not fit in here.

His record and our performances were good against the good teams but very poor against the weaker sides. Maybe Pardew was unable to get the players motivated? The article also shows our "ok" unbeaten run compared to the other teams. Only 9 games unbeaten compared to Norwich who went unbeaten for 16 games. That's impressive and thats what we should've done. Pardew really should've done better IMO with the quality and money he had available.

The only thing I can think why Pardew is gone is because of a possible bust up with Wilkins. Wilkins hasn't been on the touchline recently, its been Wally Downes job and in yesterday's interview with Wilkins, he didn't seem to bothered about Pardew leaving and was happy to be taking over the squad. No matter how much I want Zola & Clarke, I wouldn't be surprised if Wilkins was given a go. As someone else pointed out, 7th in his first season with Brighton is a very good achievement with the lack of money and quality that they had at the time.
