Exactly what I was saying to the old man last night. We were saying how dead the atmosphere was and that the team needed to do something to get some songs going. When they started trying things and knocking the ball around, the confidence in the fans grew (like it did Saturday in the first half) and us fans responded to this with applause and singing.

Agree. Very impressed tonight. Won the majority of balls in the air and had good positioning. At least when Seaborne hoofs it, it's a controlled hoof and usually ends up at one of our players. When Jaidi hoofs it, it goes nowhere near the player and 9 times out of 10 it will go out of play. Would much rather have a Fonte and Seaborne centre back pairing.

We definitely need a player to take the place of Hammond. I don't care if he is captain or not, no one automatically gets a place in the side (except Lambert, Fonte, Schneiderlin) and i'm sure that someone much better could come in and do a better holding job. He seemed so slow and dodgy on the ball today. IMO Fonte should be captain anyway.

Just re watched the final few minutes on Sky+ and even Summerfield (their goalscorer) said in his interview that it is only the 1st game and you can't look too much into it. Not too bothered but lets move on and bring the title home

Don't want to dwell on this result but we need to be a little more clinical in the box. Felt we looked fantastic (Dickson in particular) in the first half but yet again were slow starting the 2nd half. We had the chances but had no one to finish them. If we do the same week in week out, creating chances and getting crosses in, I wouldn't be surprised if we won the League. Lets put it behind us, get a couple more players in and look forward to Tuesday night. Ps. as it stands we aren't bottom, therefore we are in a better position than we were last year after 1 game, and last year we got a draw on the opening day! Plenty of minutes to go yet this season...

I've been very impressed with Watford. For a young squad, they are extremely talented and knocking the ball around really well. Surman hasn't really been in it and Simeon Jackson doesn't seem as fast as many made him out to be.
