  1. Has looked OK from what I've seen of him. But don't think he's anything more than a technically tidy safe pair of hands. We've been spoilt for fullbacks in recent years. Most of our movement and unpredictability comes from the position, so I hope we're serious about strengthening it if Bertrand and/or Cedric leave.
  2. My understabding you can only block the passing of a special resolution if you hold more than 25% of the shares. KL would retain 20% of the club's shares if the deal goes through. As you say, hard to avoid the impression this is all PR spin
  3. Not bad Balders. Of course, it would be even better if people were getting jobs that paid substantially above the cost of living. Unemployment figures don't do a very good job of reflecting under-employment in the economy.
  4. It seems more of a comment in passing but you can decide for yourself: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/16/southampton-review-claude-puels-future-need-move-whatever/
  5. Jeremy Wilson, who's very balanced, believes the situation is increasingly ominous for Puel - that's obviously his reading of the situation rather than any direct quote from the club and his language is suitably hedged. But after yesterday's spate of articles, I'm (slightly) more pessimistic than before about his chances of staying.
  6. Weird logic, only because you've completely fabricated the point. Where did I say that? I said for league finishes that have no inherent significance, point finishes are relevant contextual information -and in those situations, I can imagine scenarios where I might trade off a position in the league for a higher points total.
  7. They couldn't give two f**ks (nor would I). But there is no additional significance to finishing 8th. Frankly I would take top ten and a higher points total than 8th and what may turn out one of the lowest point hauls for the position in years. For starters, I know I would have seen us win more games and two we'd be closer to challenging for a European place than looking down. We were told by the club and the intelligentsia on here (gleefully at times) that finishing eighth, even ninth was delivering on the club's aims (never mind a cup final); yet Puel is seemingly on the hot seat. The reason, I suspect, is that the context of that finish does matter, contrary to what Lord P and other defenders of the faith say.
  8. On here. The saps most recent interpretation of ambition according to Les (aka rationalising changing goalposts). I know #needswork
  9. And? Last time I checked there was no additional or inherent significance in finishing 8th, unlike say finishing 3rd and qualifying for the CL or coming 1st and winning the league. But perhaps I'm missing something.
  10. No. We were told that in any one season we could bounce around midtable and that was OK because one day lightening might strike and we would be ready to take advantage #shortmemories
  11. The only thing missing from your post is a link to the goal with the Titanic soundtrack.
  12. Ambition as in the deluded, Cortese, pie-in-the-sky use of the term. That's much clearer thanks.
  13. When it takes someone more than 10 lines to express a single-thought joke, it's more than likely that you're sitting on convoluted gibberish. Probably a good idea to move on and put it down to the time of the day. I assume you're not a night person. New way of judging seasons? I guess a lot of things are new to you pal. But that's no excuse. Nope. Nothing new - just the same old contextual information that has always been taken into account when judging a season. The type of information that meant the OS was full of stories in 2013/14 celebrating our then highest PL points tally. The type of info that commentary at the time and posters below have had no problem grasping. The type of info that means the club today is seriously considering a management change. F**king halfwits. All of them.
  14. And yet the club is seriously considering firing the manager #snidelysaps #whateverthatmeans
  15. Especially when we've gained more points than under Poch
  16. Yet keep posting links to order-order. You're a paragon of consistency.
  17. And to think only a few years ago entire incentive contracts were being drawn up to reward managers who finished 8th. #newnormal
  18. New university. Who'd have guessed it.
  19. I meant the authors of labour's manifesto. Hard to tell as you both have similar struggles with the effects of inflation on wages. Perhaps you took the same module at poly? No views either way what constitutes success for Corbyn. Have not waded into the subject, unlike you when you posted your funny little chart. Got the link?
  20. ----Fanny sunesson (and various others).
  21. Sure you didn't write it, pal? Almost as bad as your struggles with wages and inflation Got that link?
  22. Alas that would have been true pre-Brexit. But not now we're leaving the EU.
