  2. I'm in the 'we don't create enough chances' camp. Whose naked eye is lying, then?
  3. The underlying data are too crude to make much use of. Not all shots are created equal. Some may be speculative long-rangers, under pressure from defenders; some may be tap-ins, after walking the ball into the net. Without understanding the locations of shot and the conditions in which they're created, it really is hard to say whether we're not being creative or clinical enough.
  4. Some of the OP's assumptions are pretty dubious. We've moved quite a bit away from the possession-based approach under MP; with Koeman, we've probably been middle of the pack in terms of possession, been more than happy to soak up pressure against the bigger sides and been very willing to hit Pelle early and often. Pragmatism, based on sound organisation, has been the name of the day, though there is nothing particularly distinctive about this. The Southampton Way is sales patter. Until I see club making cold and hard trade-offs in the name of it, I won't be convinced otherwise.
  5. That doesn't work whatsoever.
  6. Mahrez has been class - (other than Mane) better than anything we have in that position.
  7. Don't think the way we set up away from home is conducive to fantastic support either.
  8. Was chatting with Ugo Ehiogu in the boozer the other day - he doesn't rate Toby.
  9. Defoe ffs. Completely did Toby there.
  10. Why? 14 additional goals (Sunderland+Villa) scored over more than two games is likely to yield more than 6 points.
  11. JWP got into great positions and that was part of the problem. Not talking about the shots he skied or skewed; but his build-up play. There was a chance towards the end of the game where Mane hit the side netting from a simple, two-yard JWP layoff; had JWP not picked up or dawdled on the ball before laying it off (was he thinking to shoot?), Mane would have had a much better angle or indeed been clean through. These are things that either come instinctively or they don't.
  12. Lambert looked way of the pace yesterday. Pelle had a better game, especially the 2nd half. I was most disappointed with Jrod whose touch was really heavy. That's always been a problem of his; but hopefully it'll improve with game time and fitness.
  13. Is it? Two DMs would have been overkill against WBA -and that proved the case. Romeu has shown little going forward (even compared with Davis/JWP), so it was ultimately a choice between him and Wanyama. Wanyama may have been a c**t but he's also the better player IMO -and critically, the more mobile of the two. Wanyama had a very good game as it turned out, though he got sloppier towards the end of the game.
  14. My money's on there being a nasty economic event in the next five years - let's see how Corbo benefits.
  15. Rooney's pen against Preston in last season's FA Cup. HTH
  16. Very good against Newcastle (h) in 2012/13 season, though it was mixed with some real shockers.
  17. Which coincided with various things, such as Morgan's injury etc etc etc. #ToddlersWithMachetes
  18. They may have been notionally with the team; but you're wrong if you don't think they made huge strides under MP. You can also add Jrod and Morgan to that list.
  19. Just like the Europa League, not Ralph's 'core business'.
  20. In the mboard's words, Rooney's the ultimate flat-track bully.
  21. His greatest impact was getting sent off for stamping on Carvalro at the quarters of the 2006 WC.
  22. Les typically trying to have his cake and eat it.
  23. "It was maybe good that it happened" -Ralph f**k off
  24. Or Cabaye
  25. For you, it appears to be. Ultimately our ability to grow and thrive will depend on our ability to generate fees for players to offset the current meagre net spend. It's not the be all and end all given the risks and trade-offs but it will shape the decisions we make and the players we target. It has succeeded so far; let's see how successful it is going forward. It isn't that difficult. Enjoy the rest of the evening.
