If they are going to condition the fee in every way possible - still don't know what we got for Lambert -whether it's £2m + addons or £4m + addons and how achievable those addons are- then damn right we're going to dig our heels in rather than get a lesson in dippernomics.

Through the powers of mongboard alchemy, you've turned one sentence into something completely different. Brilliant. Many interpretations are possible: perhaps Lallana was ignored by Reed and decided to call another board member; perhaps the CEO and other board members have stake in this matter and are legitimate people to speak to -do you have an org chart at hand; perhaps Blackmore in the space of a tweet was using shorthand; perhaps Lallana wanted to know whether to bring sunblock factor 30 or 50; perhaps Blackmore's interpretation that the matter wasn't dealt with properly by the board is ultimately the correct one. You and I don't have the foggiest -that's fine, we can spout c**p and speculate; but taking the high ground and claiming 'reports said' is bunkum.
-
Blackmore's tweets said nothing about Lallana pleading his case. Oh you edited your posts - now it's about 'interpretation'
-
Always a v.good chance that the two would leave - just disappointing to see things unravel in this way. With the exception of Morgan perhaps, any losses beyond this and the situation starts looking pretty bleak.
-
Which report said he was phoning individual board members to plead his case?
-
Perhaps but let's see what happens if and when a concrete offer for Lovren comes in.
-
What's that got to do with anything?
-
What's the difference between Lambert and Lallana? Liverpool met our valuation for Lambert and a quick sale was completed without making Lambert look like a p***k. By contrast, Lallana gets plenty of stick just because he's the better player and he's valued higher. One is a hero; the other portrayed is a zero. Seems to be very little moral difference between the two players - except circumstances. After all, does anyone seriously believe that Lambert would have acted differently if we had rejected several Liverpool offers?
-
No small fry - you're all by yourself on this one.
-
In his defense, the Valencia job was a viper's nest that definitely mitigated his failure. Still, I share your concerns - think people (of a certain age) are falling for the player rather than the manager.
-
Agree - also find it slightly odd why people are making a moral distinction between Lambert and Lallana.
-
Its not the driving issue. Never said it was. Lallana is pining for a move and we're rightly doing what's best for us, not him. We can't change the hand we've been dealt; but we can certainly play it more smartly.
-
Did he steal your pie or something? Do you know something we don't? Because you seem to be joining lots of dots that don't exist. Of course, it's in Blackmore interests to exaggerate his point and attribute false statements to players because that's the way he is able to build trust and contacts. Players will be dying to talk to Blackmore in the future. Are you really that dense?
-
Or putting calls in. I know plenty of journos - they know when they are being played. Of course, many happily collude to get a story. Hopefully Blackmore has a bit more integrity and tried to call the club to corroborate the story etc. But who knows. It's obvious why stories like this might be leaked -whether Lallana and his camp would actually mislead a journo and the public is another matter, however, and quite an accusation. Finally, lets not forget the background for all this - quite a few players have already mentioned the wall of silence around the club. Many of them have no obvious axes to grind.
-
As a professional journalist, you'd hope Blackmore would have weighed all the evidence and the potential for bias when putting something it in the public domain. That's what they're trained to do - they're not publicists. That's my experience anyway. Blackmore is far from perfect but doesn't strike me as a hatchet man.
-
There's probably dissimulation and distortion on all sides - the best we have to go on are a few tweets from a dour but largely safe-pair-of-hands local journo - the picture he paints is not the same as the one you lavishly portray. But if it makes you feel better, fill your boots and put your own spin on things.
-
Blackmore - was on Twitter last night answering questions.
-
Er not really. Actually not at all. The board is completely right to play hardball -to tell Liverpool where to stick it, to remind Lallana that he's contracted to Southampton. End of. Rather the issue is about appropriate man management - it's much easier to keep a disgruntled party onside if you communicate with them, even if it's news they don't want to hear. That can only be in the club's best interests. I just hope the board is more professional than the two-bit and provincial mind set on here.
-
Pal, you are a prize plum.
-
What's his agenda? He got banned by Cortese and has been very pro the new regime. Even now his tweets are trying to be balanced. Labelling something you don't like an agenda is mongboard 101 bunkum.
-
Bending to the player's whims is one thing -the clubs interests are the priority; but not answering phone calls is another. It's called process and is absolutely critical to maintaining a modicum of trust, especially where parties have very different interests. An easily avoidable OG which, if true, will only escalate tensions.
-
FFS - that second from last tweet is absolutely inexcusable.

Now wacko jacko's dishing out leadership advice. Oh dear. ABC

Someone can't read

How can you know anything when even those on the inside are in the dark?
