Got my doubts about RK but want him to succeed as much as anyone.

It's like Fox -you tend to tuck in more if you don't have the pace to play tight. You need those few extra yards cushion.
-
Brilliant Nice Jason Statham does Inspector Gadget look to boot.

I like ITV's amateurism -Wrighty dancing with the Argies. Hoddle/Poyet are also more insightful than any of the pundits on the Beeb. But the general quality is more consistent on the Beeb.

Seen Feyenoord and Pelle a few times but wonder how far they press as aggressively as us. Worth asking your dutch friend - really don't want to see that intensity or part of the game diluted.

You're missing the point but that's to be expected. Point is England ran European runners up very close -indeed on any other day would have claimed a draw. Contrast yesterday's performance with that in 2012, a night and day difference and can in large part be attributed to the willingness to play with pace and direct running. As the likes of Welbeck, Sterling, Barkley get more experience and maturity and some of the older players get phased out, it could serve as a very competitive template. A far cry from its dismissal by dinlows like you. Will stop here pal - you might try and get me banned again .
-
True, though they have found a formula that plays to their strengths and could go pretty far -if not in this WC, in future competitions.
-
Headless chicken? Some were decent runs - just needed someone to look up and play a pass. Unfortunately England don't have the guile to play that kind of ball. Barkley was especially culpable as he often kept the ball too long and allowed those spaces to close.
-
A much better England performance but that's not saying much. Not much finesse on show but plenty of pace and direct running that caused Italy plenty of problems. If you believed the dinlows on here, you would think those things were anachronisms and irrelevances in the modern game. Pace matters.

Disagree. He grew into it in the first season and was excellent at it in the second. Watched that part of our game v.closely because it's a vulnerability. Nonetheless both Jrod and Lallana executed it brilliantly, dropping back and wide very quickly -in most cases, preventing the fullback advancing more than 10 or so yards. Obviously it's a different order at international level where the ball can be switched quicker and fullbacks are more comfortable exploiting the space in front of them -not to mention the differences in climate- but I have no doubt that one of our lads would have done it better. England also weren't helped by the DMs unwillingness to patrol the width of the pitch.

Are you serious? Lambo getting up and down to attack as well as cover Baines? Requires a motor and iron lungs, not Lambo's game.
-
Felt like someone wrote his autocue on a matchbox - the way he kept stopping mid-sentence.
-
At least, Lallana has experience playing in that position. He instinctively knows to sprint out wide and cover the fullback when teams try to switch play and exploit the narrowness in a 4-2-3-1. Contrast this with the indiscipline and laxness of Rooney/welbeck. We're also blessed to have DMs who can also cover plenty of grass, unlike Gerrard.
-
The joke is tired and done. He's our player and has been fantastic for us.
-
Gerrard escaping criticism - is the left-sided DM. Nowhere near the play when the Italians go marauding down that side.
-
How about the job he did on david platt? [video=youtube_share;9Vyz1NqssIE]

No idea, though Italian football is hardly the most rational of environments. Also worth noting that before joining Feyenoord, he largely struggled in Holland, as shown by his record with AZ.

Unlike Lambert, big things were tipped for Pelle from an early age. Was one of the standout performers in the the U-20s World Cup in 2005. That tournament also featured the likes of Messi, Llorente and Silva.
-
He's coming to manage us, not play for us, sunshine. Right here, right now, I'd rather we had kept MP, so no he's not an upgrade. Does he have the potential to do very well? Yes. But that's far from a banker.
-
No.

That's how I understood it too.

Liverpool FC. Is it time to stop any further deals?
shurlock replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
I would take any number of Sunderland players for depth as Liverpool did with Lambert. Otherwise how many of Sunderland's team could walk straight into our first XI as some of our players could with Liverpool?
