Fair play to Everton for jamming so many games - not particularly impressed by them given their position and points tally. Today was no different. Interesting to see how they fare next season without their loanees and a bit of momentum. Can see them falling off a bit.

If he was as close to the first team as some people suggest, I think we would have seen a bit more of him.

It's like the neverending mare for the lad.

Nothing to do with aspiration. Neither Spurs or Everton -first-team wise- are that far ahead of us. No idea where this tendency to deify them comes from. Had we simply done better in our head-to-heads against them -games in which we should have got more and were ravaged by injuries- things would look much tighter. Squad depth is now another matter...

Morons on here and in the media have been claiming he's leaving ever since last since season and the will-he-won't-he sign a professional contract saga. A year and a half on and he's still here - true this summer will be a massive test and the speculation will build the longer he stays and develops. But it's frankly odd to give up the ghost when we have many advantages other 'big' clubs don't.

Luke Shaw is the best left-back in the world

Like the Skates speculating to accumulate, Glasgow had too many WUM eggs in one basket. The departure of Cortese has hit him hard - God forbid 'MoPo' should do the same. Maybe he can turn it around in the transfer window with his ITK schtick, though the World Cup is going to limit his opportunities. He needs to rediscover his mojo quick. -
Line 'em up and sit back

The Moyes X-factor.

Except the cup...

Poor old deluded, arrogant, naive, moronic, lol Rickie Lambert. Take your pick from the choice adjectives used here to describe talk of CL football.

The cult of cortese abides.

Saints fan arrested and charged for shouting anti-Semitic abuse

Agree- depends on what is being shouted, though you dont necessarily have to be jewish, black, muslim or whatever to find genuine abuse where it exists wrong. -

Maybe it has nothing to do with being personally offended -the implication that you're somehow screamish or overly sensitive. Maybe its just wrong. -

Not 'what' someone shouts but racial abuse plain and simple -not big nose or foreskin gags or chants about not buying rounds, but something more sinister. Does it change things if incidents are reported to stewards or your own club rather than the OB? -

So you find it odd that some might be offended by racist abuse, even if it's from one random bloke? -

I used to do a few away trips with PSG -lets just say the 'banter' was pretty 'colourful'. -

Failing that swap the Milton Road for France and get your kicks there. -
I can't see Lallana meeting any immediate needs at the big clubs -with the exception of Liverpool. Arsenal have the likes of Ozil, Carzorla, Rosicky which is part of their problem, though Lallana is more hardworking and defensively alert. They probably need another striker, a pacier option and a combative CM. Man U have just signed Mata and will probably be addressing their defense and central midfield. If they bring an attacker in, it'll probably be someone to challenge Welbeck/replace Young. Chelsea are largely about power and pace -perhaps Oscar will go to PSG but the likes of Salah are already gathering dust on the bench. Lallana doesn't strike me as a Mourinho-type player. Assume the priority will be a striker. City are City.

Isn't Everton home your first game of the season? All prepared? Decided who's going to start the postmatch thread in your absence? Need any of us to draw you a map?

On the psychology of football club supporters

He's a professional beancounter - am sure he's there to keep an eye on the detail. The big picture and outward-facing stuff will be dealt with by RK I imagine.

I think so GS - just in the same way the Clattenberg complaint barred him from reffing our matches.

He got the sack last time round because as the papers put it the beeb was "fed up with his long rambling sentences which often did not make sense". Safe to say, he'll fit in just fine here.

Welcome back to terra firma. You went missing on the missing plane thread of all places, you spineless weasel.
