  1. Is he the new Van Wolfswinkel or any of the other flops you bigged up?

    Jack Cork

Really is he? Don't think he has the legs if pressed or forced into a scrap. We exposed his weaknesses up at their place by taking the game to them. His ability to spread the ball is great but he needs a Lucas of Allen or Henderson to take the pressure off him - hardly the definition of a versatile DM.
  3. Not on here he didnt Dont disagree - see post 36 but IMO there's a bias against the position when these polls are done.
  4. But he's not in competition with players in other positions to get into the PFA team. He's up against other LBs. As I say, LB is hardly the most influential position -say compared to attacking players, so its no surprise it doesnt attract much attention. Clyne's MOTM was pretty much the exception.
  5. Whats that got to do with anything Trenty? Would be surprised if many LBs anywhere win MOTMs.
  6. No united, arsenal or yid players in it.
  7. Which goes without saying - unclear who takes responsibility for the successes and failures of our transfer policy given the committee approach; but conceivably MP played a massive role in identifying and recruiting Osvaldo.
  8. It means finishing higher than 8th that's for sure - getting mightily and uncomfortably close to what was dismissed as lalaland under the poisoned dwarf. Next small fry.
  9. My only worry was that someone would forget to start the postmatch thread.
  10. Clyne's pace means that he rarely gets beaten in a 1v1 and recovers quickly from any mistake. Defensively he's our best fullback. He's also a threat going forward even if his end product is a bit raw. His weaknesses are a lack of composure in our possession/passing game and a tendency to get exposed in their air.

    Handballs

Our shout up at their place was the most stonewall of the lot
  12. Sprayed the ball around too - often found shaw in space with some tidy cross field passes.
  13. Lukaku put in a donkey's performance - showed why Everton fans are divided on him and why he probably isn't a long-term answer for Chelsea.
  14. You and Bazza should do a duet
  15. Despite going worse together than superman and kryptonite (supposedly), surely MP can't afford not to play both Vic and Corky?
  16. Good news must be bulls**t then.
  17. Not saying its wrong -just can't see Lallana being a priority. Even after they've shored up their CM and brought in a LB and another CB, they'll possibly be looking for pace on the wing. They just bought Mata and with Moyes gone, Kagawa might get a new lease of life.
  18. For me, his best all round performance for us was Hull away (we won 4-2 iirc).

    Clyne

Utter tosh. Clyne made an error away at Spurs and his crossing has been erratic but I have no idea what your basing your assessment on. His situation is very different from Wanyama. Arguably Clyne's been unlucky - his form is secondary. The overriding fact is that Chambers has done pretty well and MP seems to prefer him.
  20. You obviously know f**k all about American sports - if anything, there's much we can learn from them about creating more level playing fields.
  21. Just seen this - totally agree.
  22. Eh? Wanyama has been very good. If we're going to take any midfielder off, it's JWP.
  23. Or been to the same school of finance as you Small Fry. When have the media ever had problems with numbers... http://www.badscience.net
  24. Don't disagree with any of this - my only point is that we don't need to be challenging for the CL for our current crop of players to still feel they can progress with us, at least for another season. Age is on their side. By extension, I can't see Lallana leaving unless the club decides to return to the days of vying for midtable while flirting with relegation, something we have been spared this season, even if we only finish 8th or 9th. If he were to leave, it would speak volumes about where we are headed -and it's safe to say those clubs don't wholly reinvest transfer fees in new players/wages.
