That's good to hear Bearsy - the early reactions to Bazza didn't fill me with confidence. I can't fathom what it would be like to be a pariah on the pariah of mongboards. An existence too horrific for even Dante or Milton to touch in their treatises on human suffering. I hope Bazza finds peace, somewhere he can wallow in his own filth and not be judged for it. Perhaps he can even find companionship. Dune is a good start for obvious reasons. By all accounts, Boris takes the mongboard seriously as well. Perhaps too seriously: I fear that over time his dreary dogmatism and desperate need for recognition could crush our tender and mischievous Bazza. Bazza also needs an arm around the shoulder. Maybe Glasgow can go join him - not for our wellbeing of course but for Bazza's....

Haven't Check out the interview - Cork referred to speaking to Les and Katrina (no mention of Ralph iirc); but that had nothing to do with new contracts. Sounded committed but explicit that the ball was in their court. Given everyone else is being linked with a move, we should be taking those small mercies and not risking them.

Seen Cork's interview on SaintsPlayer? Spoke volumes. Says those whose contracts are up have been talking and speculating but they don't have a clue where they stand or what the boards plans are.

Would go down far worse than Rovers treble swoop of Shearer, Kenna and Flowers in 92 -and that in hindsight was pretty tinpot. Doubt it'll happen but if it did, it would be an absolute disaster. Just need the second coming of Branfoot to top it off.

Nobody gets it right or even half-right. Forget basket cases like Spurs, look at Liverpool and flavour of the month, Rodgers. Have many of his last season's signings worked out?
-
Don't ask me. Ask Woodward or Glazer - they're the ones willing to pay this amount. Or ask Chelsea who have deep pockets and don't seem to have a problem with letting unwanted players go on the relative cheap. Do I think Shaw will be a better player than Sturridge. Yes.
-
What are you on about? Justification or sentiment has nothing to do with it. United will pay what they need to pay. Imagine a captain on your submarine. He's very impatient and just fired the head cook and insists on a full English. You have the sausages, beans, mushrooms, hash browns but discover at the last minute, far away from land, you have no eggs and the captain loves his omelettes, perhaps you would pay a premium if someone was offering a box of grade AA, free range eggs. Simple supply and demand. Arguably the cases of Carroll and Fellaini are more analogous than Aguero since those deals were between English clubs which is always inflationary; both Liverpool and United had a big wad of money they needed to spend quickly - like United this summer. Most importantly neither Carroll or Fellaini, like Shaw, had buyout clauses (Fellaini's had just expired). Aguero did and was begging for a move which invariably pushed down the price.

Were definitely linked last season. Not sure about this season.

Lined up as a potential replacement for Lallana according to the Mirror. Alas it's probably another Crooky rehash from a story doing the rounds in Portugal. Seems the most concrete of the rumours so far. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfers-rafa-silva-potential-3532210

Two and a bit tommy forecasts.

Clearly you have no idea how important fullbacks are in the modern game or to our system which doesn't rely on wingers. If the end product was a little more refined, the number of assists Shaw would get would easily be in the double digits.

Excellent - no need to be d!cked around by this lot.

McClean looks a lively player.
-
Why is clearly going there? He appears to be behind the likes of De Boer and Benitez.

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included

SSN asked him what he was doing this time seven years ago. He couldn't remember. Turns out he was playing in a L2 playoff semi-final for Bristol City against Lincoln. -
Depends - they wouldn't pay full whack. They'd obviously try to get him for a knock-down price reflecting the injury, hoping that he makes a recovery so they're quids in. But it won't happen.
-
Not at the time the thread was started - Shaw had largely claimed the LB spot.
-
Lambert on SSN was a bit evasive "our performances are going to attract interest from the big clubs", though did suggest that nobody is thinking beyond the WC at the moment.
-
I'm sticking with what I said -anyone who watched us could see he was tracking back and beginning to find his feet until he got injured. Of course, he was helped by Cork's return and Shaw's introduction. He's come on leaps and bounds under MP, even though the mongboard brain trust thinks MP is basically the same as Adkins (just fortunate enough to have a better squad at his disposal). Notwithstanding this huge improvement, the idea that even back then we were a more balanced team without Lallana and with Guly...well

Bazza RIP, you blurt.

The defensive cover in midfield is just as worrying. -

Absolutely -
Saw virtually every game of his in the flesh - he's obviously stepped up this season; but he was much better than claims than he should be dropped because we were more solid and balanced without him. Thats just mongboardery at its finest. He actually started to kick on once Cork returned and was excellent at QPR and then continued that form, showing a real, and under appreciated willingness to track back until an injury somewhat derailed things. Many on here chose to ignore all this.
-
Was it? You obviously weren't watching him very closely. Sunshine, it's a Lallana thread; someone pointed out the irony that only a year ago Lallana was out of a favour on here; someone else responded that it was only a single WUM; your thread takes the biscuit in terms of its stupidity, proving the original poster's point. That's all. I respect that the mongboard is serious business for you but no need to read too much into things
