Cortese speaking to BBC for first time since leaving Saints
shurlock replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Not sure what's wrong with the quote about being in daily contact with players - its either true or its not and Cortese's a bulls**ter. At least its specific and not fantastically difficult to prove either way. -

Boo hoo -
You'd think Di Matteo would come here given his supposed friendship with Cortese.
-
Always rated Afellay.

Haven't your read their articles on Chelsea Flower Show ffs? Some of the rabid nonsense on this thread almost gives the impression that the Mail got Dodd/Williams the sack.

Adrift on brown stuff creek without a paddle...

Where's the usual mongboard posse, riding into town on its high horse to pontificate about tradition and treating former players in the right way? Had this happened under Cortese, its kangaroo court would have already delivered its verdict and his limp corpse would have been hanging from a tree. Evenhandedness at its finest. FWIW, happy to wait for more info rather than be swayed by a few sketchy tweets - hopefully there are good reasons for all this. -
It's tough at the top

He hardly touched the ball in the second half.

Didn't realise football was played in the past. Learn something new everyday on the mongboard. History only matters if it affects size which in turn only matters if it affects purchasing power. The rest is irrelevant and a fetishised trip down memory lane. Given AM's considerable financial difficulties, the impact of its history and size on the ability to recruit and retain the best players is far from straightforward. Simples.

There's three years difference in age between them - quite apart from actual performances, just think Redmond has a higher ceiling and more to his game. Someone who can actually cut inside and go on the outside and deliver a cross.
-
Still begs the question what the other mods are doing.
-
Redmond's been excellent - raw but less than one-dimensional than the likes of Townsend. Has given top defenders in the prem a tough test.
-
Yep, especially as nobody knows if this season was a blip before ordinary service is resumed or the beginning of the end of their dominance.
-
Agree the £30m or the timing of installments are probably the least interesting parts of the contract, if true. More interested in knowing if there is a sell-on clause and what % it is.

Who's the prospective manager under discussion - revealing this in no way incriminates your 'source'? Otherwise I'll safely assume you're talking rubbish.
-
What? Does he have to bring a utility bill no more than three months old?
-
The last sentence doesn't quite read the same as the original. It feels slightly softer without the "tell them", though this is a quibble. Otherwise his position seems pretty clear.
-
Two midlevel sackings wouldn't be enough to give the mongboard an ITK hard on, forget the general public. That Nixon is playing hush hush suggests that they have to be fairly significant.

Edit
-
If so, MP would be off in a flash.
-
Reckon its the old guard -Rogers or Reed.

The media attention/hype doesn't quite make sense?

Agree its a staggeringly daft comparison. There's a reason why the likes of Pards and Strachs have not been entrusted to manage larger clubs - they weren't seen up to the task: let's just say their tactics have relied on brawn rather than brains. They've been regularly overlooked and are now in the fag end of their careers. Others were given a chance (BFS, McClaren, Mark Hughes to a lesser extent) and failed which has tarnished their reputation. Only an idiot would write MP off before he's been given the chance. Equally, the presumption that even an infantile would know is false is that managers are somehow parachuted into the big jobs. No. Everyone has start to somewhere, typically at a smaller club - whether it was Fergie at Aberdeen, Martinez at Wigan, Rodgers at Watford, Moyes at Preston before making the step up. All signs suggest that MP is on a similar trajectory. -
I thought UKIP were all for 'free trade'. On a subject closer to hand

As the Bee Gees would say, its only words.

Hypothetically speaking, so what if Tokyo grassed? I have very good friends in Japan - it was a very anxious time. When is a cause not just, at least in the eye of the beholder?
