I wouldn't worry about it - I understand the gist of your point. If MLG's calling in life is to dredge up facts so that he can point out why things aren't literally true, fair play to him. But lets not pretend that this is anything but menial work requiring minimal skill and makes MLG little more than a glorified coolie or waste-handler. I can't remember the last time MLG actually said something insightful about the club or provided some analysis or explanation that made me think; but there are tons of other posters on here who, notwithstanding the occasional slip, do that on a routine basis.

Cheers, that's a great help.

Anyone know what London Saints are doing for this one- how much they're paying and what time they are going up and coming back?

Goal I: Guly's goal against Millwall - clip doesn't show all of the build-up, with Guly beating two men in his own half.

That's a decent shout.

Supposedly was on his way to Leeds. "An example was Jason Puncheon, who agreed to sign for us at dinner-time and changed his mind at ten for whatever reason, which turned out to be he went to QPR instead. I’d agreed a deal with Southampton to bring the lad here to replace Max, but unfortunately, it fell through". http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/leeds_united_grayson_reveals_transfer_deadline_day_agonies_1_3736117

True, though I doubt its like the old days where the idea of a warm down was to see who get changed and make it to the bar the quickest. Most players probably don't see the benefits of a strict diet till the end of their careers - think Giggs, Zenden etc.

Wonder if McGrath could have cut it in today's game. Great player but doubt he would have been as productive as back then.

Cheers: some of their chairman's comments suggested that they weren't averse to loaning him out: http://www.shropshirestar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2011/09/01/moxey-defends-wolves-decision-to-avoid-deadline-day-frenzy/ But I guess with the injuries and lack of transfer activity -24!- they probably need him. Do you know if there's a definitive site with the published squads?

Hope the lad recovers swiftly and fully - maybe he emerges being able to head the ball straight

Which striker could you realistically see us getting on the Bus next week?

Sam Vokes? Nathan Delfouneso? -
Anyone making such apocalyptic comments after one game -let alone the Walsall game where we battered them over the 90mins- is a moron. However, the OP is also wrong and confuses very different cases. There is a massive difference between throwing a hissy over one result -and a dropped 3 points- and concerns over our dealings in the transfer market which might derail a number of games -and potentially the loss of a far greater number of points. Because a few people had egg on their faces after the Walsall result doesn't mean they are altogether wrong here. Because the two cases are so very different, I think there is very little to learn from this particular example of hindsight. Indeed, I am willing to bet that there are quite a few people who were able to put the Walsall result in context yet felt slightly underwhelmed at the stroke of eleven o'clock. Why tar everyone with the negativity brush as the OP implicitly does? Of course, some will milk every last drop out of lack of transfer dealings - I think they overstate their case and look like bulbs in doing so. IMO our dealings haven't been disastrous by any stretch of the imagination; but pace up top/cover for Lambo could be the difference between a decent season of consolidation and possibly a fantastic one. The loan window opens soon and we might still do something, so even that statement needs to be made with caution.

I've heard and read enough reports linking him to the Braga game, one of the biggest games of their season, that it is an important part of understanding what went wrong and in turn whether the hostility to him is justified or not. You're absolutely right: one game shouldn't define a player. As such, it's reassuring that some Celtic fans made their minds up for arguably the wrong reasons. Given the fact that he was tainted by being Mowbray's player, he played so few games for Celtic and was involved in the Braga game, it makes it easier to draw a line under the negative comments and not extrapolate from them. And if as some of the reports suggest, Nige was tracking Jos for a while but was put off by the £2m price tag (who wouldn't be), perhaps this wasn't a panic decision after all. Another interpretation is that Nige simply took advantage of the deadline and Celtic's desperation to clear space and got a player he already wanted on more favourable terms. Of course, it will be interesting to see what happens if we want to buy him in Jan - I can't see Celtic getting anything like their valuation or us buying him if they refuse to budge; either way, it will be a nice dilemma to have for it will have meant -regardless of whether he stays- that he's done a job for us.
-
I don't think these stats tell the whole picture - many Celtic fans never forgave him for his role in their 3-0 loss to Braga in the first leg of the qualifying round for the Champions League which basically made the home leg and victory irrelevant. And before you say anything, the match probably would have been televised.

Do you know if the lad actually spoke with us - or he simply didnt want to come and it didn't even get to that stage?
-
Don't know what your sources are; but the Burnley press thinks that our improved offer didn't match their valuation. Rodriguez might well have gone on to reject us but unlikely things even reached that stage.

A few reports of his time in Denmark http://www.celtic.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=5651&posts=10

He played 7 games for them. What do they know? Was bought by a manager who was universally despised, got injured and then overlooked by a new manager whose decisions can only be described as erratic. Celtic is a basketcase. True, he might turn out ****e; but that's why we've only loaned him till Jan.

Interesting article: Didn't impress on trial at Livingstone in 2005 but then had a renaissance in Finland and Sweden, seeing him pick up Sweden's player of the year in 2009 (MLG?). Went to Celtic for £2m - quite a high fee by Scandinavian standards. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2010/01/11/exclusive-celtic-land-s2million-dutch-defender-jos-hooiveld-86908-21957958/ Quite a rollercoaster: could be utter turd; or a real gem. Either way, worth having a look and suspending the judgments till we see the lad play.
-
Has he even scored in the league this season?
-
Exactly. Would stay clear.
-
I almost want it to be true. Because it suggests we have someone lined up. And whoever that is has got pace. We already lack pace up top; it would make no sense if we got rid of our quickest players if that wasn't the case.
