  1. Most sensible post on the thread - whatever the rights and wrongs of the Staplewood incident, the Echo has escalated matters with some real dogsh*t stories, making reconciliation very difficult. It didn't need to go down this route but it chose to play hardball. Its only reaping what it has sown. Live by the sword, die by the sword. At least have the guts to put up with the consquences.
  2. gone to southend on loan.
  3. Spot on - calling for another Hammond-esque player in no way is a criticism of or takes away from Puncheon, just that they are two very different players. Wait till we are over-run in the middle again...
  4. Btw, do we even know who was at the top of AP's shopping list? Was Ward first choice before Seaborne or Puncheon behind Danns, Stock etc?
  5. I thought twaddle was being quite polite
  6. Who knows the ins-and-outs of the deals - maybe there's point of principle about not being held to ransom - more likely when the particular players we were chasing were asked to drop a division - alas he who shall not be named never faced that dilemma because we never went for higher profile players; maybe the players we've gone for are indeed better or to the extent that they've been playing at a lower level have greater potential or hunger. Your argument totally falls down when you look the money we've been spent in total - enough to rival prem league teams and not a million miles away from our season of recklessness (2006/07) at the height of the general insanity. I can't imagine he who shall not be named ever spending that in the CCC let alone L1, even if he had greater resources. Suggests we are more than happy to put our money where our mouths are...
  7. Just about sufferable as long as it doesn't extend to pony-fiddling gags.
  8. Hasnt done much so far. playing in a more advanced position than i thought.
  9. not got mine yet.
  10. Its like a bad trip - 1000s of wottes and poortvliets singing you to your funeral. (well they're swedish but they sound dutch enough...)
  11. Agree about Pony but Hummel was class.
  12. a very poor man's david connolly.
  13. Thought Plymouth were taken over by some rich Japanese?
  14. "Its about the banter and the bragging rights...Its about letting them know we’re top dog – and doing it with a smile". You can stuff your f**king SKY clichés up your lazy journo a••e.
  15. Either way, it doesnt matter - if the club was desperate about sponsorship, im sure it could find another sponsor. the fact is that its choosing not to -thats the bigger point.
  16. As its the 125th anniversary, would anyone have a problem with the original 1885 kit with the diagonal red line? http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Sout...outhampton.htm Makes logical sense, though its very different from the standard red and white...
  17. In theory, deffo - and he looked great when he first joined. But since he's been made captain, he seems to have hit a bit of a wall. I really hope he rediscovers some of his early form coz we don't have many players like him.
  18. Don't think we have a real hustling and bustling CM in the engine-room to make the team tick - Hammond, Schneiderlin and James are all too pedestrian. Lallana and Puncheon are only as good as they get the right supply.
  19. True though previous managers never had any cash to spend. Money brings its own expectations.
  20. Even if we don't make the playoffs, I can't see any change before the end of the season - why would you tie the hands of a future manager with lots of Pards own signings. Certainly, Pards is under pressure but he'll be given to the middle of next season, at the very least - hopefully longer. If in December we're not pushing for automatic, then NC might wield the axe. The better analogy is not Liverpool or Man C but QPR and look where their chopping and changing has got them.
  21. Like Glasgow Saint, seems like they're wrong on about almost up there. Had to hunt around the story to find half a gratuitous line. What a load of crock and bull. Comes from the same kind of journalistic school (and I still find the occasional reference) that assumes we're skint and on the brink.
  22. For me AP's preferred starting 11 will be --------------------------Davis Ostemebor--------Fonte--------Seaborne--------Harding --------Hammond---------Morgan ---------------Puncheon Antonio----------------------------Lallana ------------------Lambert
  23. -Davis Ostemebor--------Fonte--------Jaidi--------Harding --------Hammond---------Morgan Antonio-----------------------------Puncheon ----------------Lallana/Waigo ------------------Lambert
  24. And no doubt many of the happy clappers would agree too.
