Reading too much into things. Silva’s second and third fouls were pretty innocuous and refs typically give players several chances if they’re on a yellow. Happens up and down the leagues to all clubs. Dean has had a reputation for being trigger-happy with booking players, though again he let both us and Watford get away with loads in our recent game and that’s not even counting the Kabasele (?) challenge at the end which was a proper bottle job.

Everyone’s a loser pal.

That would have been a great story.

What are your tips for this game?
-
No end product.

Of course, its not inevitable. Nothing's inevitable per se. But having two major injuries (as well as various other ailments) increases his risk of experiencing future injuries.

I want to see our top ten side on Sunday.

You do realise that previous knee injuries (i.e. a torn ACL) are a risk factor for future recurrent hamstring problems (though admittedly studies that have found a relationship are based on pretty small sample sizes)?

To the extent he was with Liverpool all summer -and supposedly they do things right and Hughes does everything wrong, he had a full preseason. Then again he did miss their trip to the US because he was suffering from foot blisters and picked up an ankle problem in their opening friendly of the summer. But of course that has nothing to do with a player who’s rather more injury prone

He was pretty poor. I assume you weren’t at the game but from behind the goal, you could see that his first half saves (which have impressed some people) were routine and papered over some poor technique. Who the f**k parries or claws a shot away that is a foot or so to the side of them? His footwork is shot to pieces - one reason he’s so late moving off and getting down.

Wishful thinking I suspect. Perhaps the much simpler explanation is that all players start the season fresh but over the course of it, will tire and pick up knocks (see Tadic’s comments about the PL). Most players can deal with this; but for a player like Ings who has a long record of injuries, unfortunately that dropoff is much steeper.

The new Mackail-Smith.

It was a good day out, all things considered; by contrast, the trip to Sheff Weds a few weeks earlier was thoroughly miserable.

Fat boy at fault for huddersfield's equaliser. Stephensesque.

Inspired to corner the market for gay pride and reversible anti-fascism saints scarves?
-
Maybe Forster CDAJF Huddersfield?

As I said elsewhere, if that's the case, at least, play them in a formation that gives them the best chance to succeed. Our strongest XI has struggled with a 4-2-2-2. Why would it be any different for our fringe players?

Is soggy banging on about yoshida again? Re. the OP, we should have a true picture of Goa's motives and plans by the end of this window - more than any five pledges or fan communication could ever provide. To date, he's been able to piggyback off the VVD sale and other trading in the transfer market. This time he's going to have put in his hand in his pocket if he truly wants to strengthen the squad.

Agree that’s pretty damning. In the leadup to that clip just remember Ritchie’s arms flailing a lot more and linos always appear desperate to give those. Obviously couldn’t see as much from the initial camera angle as the lino.

Where’s Sims? We also need more pace in attacking areas if we’re going to play RH’s system. I also worry that Long has gone from a dead cert to leave to key squad member on the back of a recent purple patch. If Long reverts to Long and Ings is injured on and off next season, we’re going to be very reliant on the one new striker. Needless to say, the question is whether Goa will be willing to bankroll four or five new players who are capable of improving the first XI (maybe less important at RB where cover should be sufficient) if we can only shift, for example, Cedric and Austin for reasonable sums.

Don’t see City slipping up. Enjoy your winnings pal - was in Iceland in January (and Ottawa in March), great place to travel.
-
It was stupid play, inviting the free-kick.
-
Won’t be an og. Origi got the first touch and nothing to suggest it was off target.

If we were going to play Stephens today (and you’re correct we don’t have many options at CB), I would have preferred to see him in a back three, perhaps shifting Bertrand over and starting Targett at LWB/LM as we did to good effect in the second half against Bournemouth last week. In other words, I would have rather seen us experiment with a formation and/or lineup that we might credibly use next season than going gung-ho with four attacking players made up of bit-part players. Either experiment with a 4-2-2-2 with your best lineup (as it’s struggled to show it can play that way) or acknowledge the limitations of a weakened team with a less adventurous setup that gives it the best chance to succeed. It’s hard to see what RH could have plausibly learned today. Then again I don’t think learning was his main priority which might explain why a number of those who went today are justifiably annoyed.
