  1. Made a cheeky grand on tonight’s result. Trust a puel’s side to lose at home against a side it’s heavily expected to beat. #sameoldleicester
  2. Wee Ross has been promoted to the big boy board.
  3. Puel out.
  4. Krueger didn’t have the same influence as Reed. Krueger was basically Kat and Goa’s representative on earth, relaying, interpreting and implementing their instructions. His function was always more important to the owners than to the playing side or results on the pitch (hence Mitchell wouldn’t be interested in or even in the running for it). Perhaps Goa’s decided he doesn’t need that intermediation or extra organisational layer because he’s intending to take a more hands-on role or maybe that Krueger’s role is better carried out by someone close to Goa who speaks the same language or maybe he’s simply decided that £650K is a king’s ransom for a part-time, symbolic role like chairman (which it is). Whether all this is a good or bad thing depends, I guess, on how much confidence you have in Goa’s competence and motives.
  5. Agree.
  6. Two nil and they f**ked it up.
  7. While our overall wage bill is pretty generous as a result of loading up on mediocrity, pay ranges are quite narrow which limits our ability to go after players in demand. There are rumours that this will change but I'll believe when I see it. We're certainly a more attractive proposition than we were under Pellegrino but players will need more proof than a mini-revival over half a season to accept that we've turned a corner and we're good for players career progression again. Even then Everton continue to benefit from a certain cachet, however mystifying it is to the rest of us.
  8. More or less the same reason Walcott chose them over us pal.
  9. That isn't the newspaper's headline - its a MLG flourish as is his spelling of financial
  10. The article doesn't state that. It says that the clubs states that (which is very different). As Verbal says, ownership, control and influence are not the same thing in China and we're seeing a renewed trend of the Chinese state coopting the private sector. Frasier Howie has written extensively on this: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2018-10-22/china-s-private-sector-is-not-independent-from-the-state-says-author-howie-video Of course there might be absolutely nothing in this but the PL, at least, believes it merits attention.
  11. I suspect it’s a bit more complicated than that - otherwise the PL would not be investigating the issue and making repeated, detailed enquiries and still failing to receive satisfactory answers (if you believe the story). Nor presumably would the FT be running a story. Should have just handed the matter over to the forum experts who would have resolved it in minutes. Are you and trousers on call in case?

  13. Think you're confusing things. It's not so much that football fans are less friendly or sociable than rugby fans (christ a scouser even shared a drink and some crisps on the train down the game). It's that there is an expectation, even convention that as an away fan you show some respect if you happen to be in the home end. Anger arises when people are flagrantly flouting this convention. It's not one that exists in rugby or other sports as far as I know.
  14. No pal. We only use the finest sources
  15. Mark Francois is going to command a six figure fee on “I’m a Celebrity” by the time this is all said and done.
  16. Come on you’d love it Jamie. A lifetime’s material for your shtick.

I contacted David Luker back in 2008 after an away trip to Plymouth where the abuse was particularly vicious, sustained and involved a group. Was fobbed off and told that there was nothing concrete to back up my allegations, even though the club had received a similar report from another supporter. Was told the Police Liaison would be monitoring the crowds to try and spot similar incidents from the descriptions given. In other words, it went nowhere. I’m there to watch and enjoy the game, not watch our fans and I’m reluctant to grass up specific individuals; so on a couple of other occasions (one was Wolves at home IIRC), I alerted the stewards to repeated abuse and the vicinity of the stand it was coming from, so they could monitor it more closely and do their jobs. Needless to say, they did f**k all. Given it’s a thankless exercise (and I suspect I’ve done more than most), I’m more inclined to let sleeping dogs lie, especially if it’s an off-the-cuff comment. As I say, it’s been a while since I’ve heard anything but on the odd occasion where there’s been repeated abuse, I’ve said something to the individual rather than report it, knowing in part that more people are willing to get involved and also call it out. Perhaps that’s a sign of progress.
  19. Remember the letter they wrote to ST holders in the Itchen North back in 2015?

How would you interpret big, lazy n*gg*r or black c**t pal?

Racial abuse. Wasn’t every game and was only the odd fan (within earshot), so nothing like some leagues or countries; but I count many times it happened.
