Can’t help by being impressed by such an authoritative character at Academy level. I thought it was telling how connected he seemed to be with Pep and the first teams efforts, which of course is where the Academy’s work bears fruit and makes the real money. Also he didn’t forget to mention about the lads who had gone to other clubs to achieve success - a really nice touch and testament to the family feeling clearly at the club (which I believe has been re-built in our own Academy of late). I’m very hopeful that Jason is here for the long term…we desperately need a proper football man to lead football operations.

Was it Swansea where we've had a bit of previous bother? Something to do with a hotel need near the ground not being made available for the players or something like that? Perhaps they still hold a long held grudge and are playing hardball accordingly.

Ah but you should know by now, it’s all about the PROCESS of going downstairs…the final result matters not if the ambition and application to go downstairs is evident.

Thanks for posting - I’d not seen this. I hope the eight get to watch this back and reflect seriously on what they said. I know it was supposed to be a bit of fun, but there’s a couple who came across a bit uncommitted and I suspect they’re contribution to the season matched their lack of enthusiasm.

I don’t know what you mean by ‘the better ones’? The ones with more well known names perhaps!? I mean it could be argued that the best ones are those that have achieved promotion to the EPL, but they’re hardly going to drop back the Championship are they? I understand this guy is less well known, has less history to have made a difference with Swansea, but what I do understand is that he had limited resources there and nowhere near the infrastructure that Saints will provide him. Just like Poch, there are no guarantees with certain appointments, but a clear connection to the overall strategy of the club has the best probability of success. Having read up about what he wants to achieve tactically I get it…whether he has the players at his disposal to turn us into a real force competing at the top of the table is another matter. For me the biggest blocker to success at Saints is in the mentality of the players…whoever takes the reigns needs to be able to get these players believing they CAN win games. Simple as that really and he has as much chance as Pep in doing that with a clean slate.

The one ground I will hopefully visit that I’ve always wanted to is Hillsborough given its history and an ex-work colleague supports SW, so we’ve promised each other a seat. Is there anyone here who knows if all Saints/Championship games will be streamed on Saintsplayer?

I agree…experience in the Championship will be key. Even teams such as Wednesday coming up from L1 will not be a push-over, as we well know when they outplayed us in the cup. I hope they get the appointment done quickly today and let’s get on with the re-build.
