Tammy A would be the perfect Ings replacement. I doubt we’ll have the money to get it done though. Don’t think we’ll be doing any GK business - we’ve got the best 2 we could hope for given where we’re going in the league (possible relegation fodder). We really need an Ings replacement and someone as good as Armstrong to bolster midfield - Redmond and Elynonousey fill me with dread.

It’s not a surprise he’s gone after failing to sign a good contract offer, but not to do so for his supposed boyhood club is somewhat disappointing. The club was forced into the position so can’t grumble at the fee received - it’s a good deal as others have said. The issue will be who we replace him with…even if we replace him. This evening we looked lame against a poor Levante side. Yes there are more players in the squad, but the overall quality of the squad has dipped significantly with Bertrand and Ings departure. Ely and Redmond are both looking ineffective in terms of attacking threat, so if Armstrong or Walcott go missing Adams and Tella will likely have barren games. Not writing the season off just yet, but fails to replace Ings with a high quality striker and I think we’ll struggle again.

Can’t see anything negative about this. Let’s face it, the academy has been somewhat barren ground of late, so this makes much sense.

Once in awhile it would be nice to resist approaches to our best players and especially from clubs I consider to be no better than our own. To be honest I’ve never thought JWP would be a huge miss for the team, but he has improved a lot and stamped his presence in the side, so now I’m less sure. £50m would see him go though.

Almost. Lowe had a cushty little number so didn’t want to sell even as the club was dying on its feet. By contrast if Goa had a decent offer to buy the club, I think he’d sell in a heartbeat.

Think there’s much more to Ings situation than him being a fly in the ointment. He’s been training with the squad - can’t imagine Ralph and crew would allow that if Ings was being anything but professional about it all…there is still a chance he might still be with the club next season if the right offer doesn’t come in. Contract talks are rarely black and white affairs.

Interesting comparison to the flu - there was a huge decrease in flu cases this last winter...why? Unsurprisingly because people were wearing masks, so it does appear to make huge sense to the over 60's (like me) to continue wearing a mask in high risk areas at the very least.

I would hope to be there, but I’m expecting Sky etc to mess with the scheduling once again meaning I can’t get to games. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some continue to wear face masks until it’s clear the virus has been eradicated from society completely and frankly I wouldn’t blame them.

Was convinced the pen was going to be overturned, they saw enough to give it. Only player I was not entirely happy with was Pickford who on a few occasions looked dodgy. I’m not a big fan of Philips and Rice playing together, but what do I know…we won!

While Djenepo does need to improve his game, I don’t think being an attacking midfielder being played at RB for a good number of appearances does anything to make him look good. Having said that, he does seem to be too frail to make a significant impact on the Prem.

If that’s truly the mark of JWP’s ambition then we’re better off without him and taking the money to re-invest. He’s stepped up his game sure, but he’s not indispensable.

Under the circumstances this is a good, exciting signing who should go straight into the starting 11. It will be very interesting to see how he links up with Redmond or whoever is in front of him. Where he’s come from is an irrelevance, it’s how he applies himself and while I liked Bertie, I’ll not miss the apparent lack of energy that was part of his on-field persona.

Which is why I said that he’d proven himself to be better than being a luxury player.😏🙄

Completely agree with this. In fact I do wonder whether Romeu an Diallo could be another great duo, but the problem there is JWP…he will not be dropped unless injured which seems doubtful. The fact JWP rarely gets injured is an interesting stat…he’s not the DM battler some would make him out to be, or he has good technique to keep himself safe. I’ve always maintained that JWP is a luxury player and one we could I’ll afford to have start. To be fair to the lad he’s proved to be a very capable player.

The only reason I can see for that starting eleven is Ralph needs an excuse to put some of them onto the transfer list. I get Bednarek being included....Sky report he has the most interceptions for a defender (by some way), so in theory we defend better with him in the team and one of Ralph’s targets is fewer away goals. But Redmond after some shocking performances? Why Minamino over our own boy Tella...unless we’re serious about taking him from Pool and Ralph has told him to play for a contract? The team sheet has done nothing to convince me that I’ve got the result wrong at either 2-1 or even 3-1. But who knows...perhaps Ralph’s tactics will finally come good.

Usually our bogey team and I’d expect a 2-0 or so loss. This is a nothing game really, so could go either way. If WH don’t press us I can see a good game and neck to win. We don’t do draws...so 2-1 loss.😂
