Hi All-how many 1st team other than Davis are playing?
-
Afraid not neighbour-mind you, would love to have money to pop back for game & then head back out here!!!
-
A nice loan. Greetings from the sunny climes of Ibiza BTW. Hacked off actually as my itouch will not work with saints tvplayer so will miss the match commentary's this week. And all cos Adobe flash player is needed. Boo.

No same routine - I'll keep my thoughts to myself!
-
Lallana has come of age and is almost a different player frankly with his 'new found' position alongside Lambo. My MOTM as he worked hard for the whole team AND scored a brace to boot! Can't ask for much more from the lad TBF - he could end up being our top goal scorer if he keeps thay kind of effort up. I think the only slight weak link was James today - he still looked a bit lightweight in the 1st half, but got more into the game in the 2nd half when the teams confidence was high. BUT....no-one in their right mind would criticise that win today - it was simply a joy to watch and let's hope there's many more to come. PS: Almost forgot - I have been Wotton's biggest critic, but today he hardly put a foot wrong and for any poor pass from him, he made up five-fold by making sure the Gills knew he was right on their case with some crunching tackles.

Gotta say, the Lallana, Papa and Lambo combination REALLY worked today. Got to also say, Lambo almost had a 2nd with a sublime free-kick from about 30 yds out which was dipping under the bar - their keeper pulled off a superb save to be fair. James was the only player (in the 1st half) that was not performing, but again he was being set-out for attention as most of their attacks went down their left. If only he would put his foot in where it hurts - he missed the ball several times. Overall though an excellent, excellent TEAM performance that showed real class at times. Tactics spot on by Pardew. Onwards and upwards hopefully, but today we knocked over one target. Pushing out of the relegation zone is the next and we've got some teams coming up that will present a great opportunity for us to do just that. PS: A load of praise to the Northam crowd today - kept the songs going most of the game.

Agreed - would like to know how true this is actually.

OS - Northam for more saints fans/moving seats update
Saint Fan CaM replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Great stuff - this is about making it more uncomfortable for the away fans - I hate seeing the Northam being filled mostly by away supporters, not to mention being out-sung. Although I don't sit there I always thought it a bad policy to move fans who had aid for a seat in the Northam to be moved just for a few more visitors - bloody imposition frankly and I would not be happy having to move from MY seat! This to me seems like a really good idea - now Kelv just needs to take up my idea of kicking towards the Northam in the 2nd half and its sorted. hehe -
Great post and SO true. However, in terms of managing expectations, we just need to stay up this year - big push next year when we're a more settled team/club.
-
Dunno - I might wager that we've won more games at home kicking towards the Northam in 2nd half. But anyway, the main point I think is to try something to break the cycle of failure.
-
Yes, I agree it will be a huge disappointment and shock if we don't beat Gillingham. But it will not mean relegation and at this point in time that is ALL we have to worry about IMO.
-
I'm with you Ottery - he'd make a better striker now than a DOF.
-
OK DD, couple of points here... (a) IF is just that... (b) If we ARE in the bottom 4 after Xmas, can you guarantee that we could not still be safe by the end of the season? If you cannot be certain, then what the hell is the point in bringing up Pardew's potential sacking now? AP has got until the end of NEXT SEASON to get us back into the CCC and that my friend is a long time off yet. Just take a deep breath and enjoy the building process...believe it will happen unless there is no hope left.
-
Can you let me borrow your crystal ball - I need to know the lottery numbers tomorrow. Err, actually don't bother, it's probably not got a good chance of getting the numbers right anyway. And hey, we might be hit by an asteroid before the numbers are drawn, so what's the point anyway? Damn it, I think I'll just smash my TV up, because I just KNOW I'll not get the right lottery numbers. Sorry, your point is what exactly?

That's the spirit...

Thank goodness I'm not alone in this thinking. There are others who would knock down the castle foundations just because they didn't look like a castle. Incredible and crass stupidity. Yes, the results are not there yet, but be patient and they will be. Sack AP and we will fall even further just as we have time and time again over the last 10 years. Pardew HAS to be given the chance. Only if he manages to relegate us to L2 this season will I contemplate that he was the wrong choice. After this season we'll see...no reason to panic for a while yet.

Lucy, despite her charms, has gone way down in my estimation since wearing that Poompey shirt. She needs subtle and caring manipulation by a seasoned Saints supporter to help her see the error of her ways and I am that man. HTH.

Now that's hilarious. :smt036

See my other thread!

It's not so much about our fans - its mainly about letting the away team kick towards their fans and also our defenders having a wall of noise from the away fans right in their backs in the closing 10 minutes of a game. I am convinved there is something in this.
-
Thanks DS - I know it shouldn't make a difference, but something is not right at SMS and this could help calm the nerves a bit.

This Saturday we must ensure our support is maintained throughout the game regardless of the score. The team is on the brink of breaking through and puttting in a really good performance and getting 3 pts. We need to dispel any 2nd half nerves, especially in the last 15 minutes. To the Northam : PLEASE show us all the way - the rest of the ground will follow you if you do the business. Collectively, if you're quiet the rest of the ground is quiet and vice versa. To all other stands : Get behind the team and the Northam and sing, clap, shout etc. We CAN make a difference if we ALL stop getting nervy after 75 minutes and KEEP the noise levels high. Err, thanks. (:
-
Kelvin : PLEASE consider changing the direction of play at kick-off. I honestly believe that kicking towards the Northam in the 2nd half will be better for the team. Our defence will be more 'protected' at the quieter Chapel end at a time when usually panic is starting to set-in. Also, I believe it will inspire our players more to be facing the Northam in the 2nd half, especially if the opposing fans are making a lot of noise. We need to grab any advantage we can at home and this is a small but significant idea that could help change our fortunes IMHO.

Objective Assessment Season to Date?
Saint Fan CaM replied to Kingsbridge Saint's topic in The Saints
We need to get high enough to beat relegation and we'll do that before the end of the season. Thats ALL we need to do this season ready for a fresh start the season after. HTH. -
Look, I understand the frustration - its easy to be critical when we've still not broken out of the negative points barrier let alone the relegation zone, but we have to give this re-building process time. Pardew is the key to us getting back to where we belong, just like Fergie did for ManU all those years ago. PLEASE be patient people - it is VERY early days in an effort that will take five years to correct and these early days WILL seem as if we're not making progress, but we really are...it's just we cannot see all the building blocks being put in place. Judge AP at the end of the season based on whether he keeps us in this league, because realistically that's all we were ever going to achieve this season regardless of our final league placing.
