  1. Why do people believe that support means 'never questioning'? I support my wife and family. Christ, I love them. Does that mean never calling them to account? Never querying their intentions? Never telling them that maybe, just maybe, they might be wrong? Never offering an alternate point of view? Does it mean somehow I support them and their hopes and aspirations any less? A few people on here either need to grow up or my suggestion would be to join the Third Reich...
  2. If I could beg each and every one of you to do one thing. It is to get to know the people you love while they are alive.
  3. A very moving and eloquent piece, thank you friend.
  4. I just found out this news this morning and was totally lost for words really. Were it not for this man I might not have a club to love, cherish, detest, or moan about. For that I am forever in his debt. If anyone knows what the illness was can they please let me know so I can make some sort of small contribution towards a relevant charity. The man deserves no less, just wish my contribution could be as meaningful as his to me. Thanks big fella.
  5. I am sketching it now, fear not.
  6. Changed for you.
  7. They haven't played us in competitive game in 28 years.
  8. Which of you t055ers was having a go at me for demanding more urgency and a holding midfielder in the transfer market? I rest my case...
  9. Jack Hunt playing on Sky... what were his parents thinking...
  10. Clown. Go and put your car back together or throw a bucket of hundreds and thousands at someone...
  11. Money will not win you every game, but over time it will deliver success. It's proven. Saturday I might be tempted to put down as one of those things... even Chelsea got stuffed at Wigan.
  12. I don't want to go over old ground old friend - we've done this argument to death over the years. And nor do I wish to impinge on a personal argument ... However, I do take issue with anyone who says that money doesn't guarantee success. It does. It might take a while but undoubtedly money does buy success. Of all the most successful clubs anywhere in the world, it's a fact that they have the most money, pay the highest salaries and employ the best players. It's why I keep banging the drum. It's all very well for Nicola to want Premeirship football, the question remains whether his is prepared to pay what it takes, either now or in due course...
  13. I'm afraid I agree. I think it's ludicrous but true. However, if he has won 6 games by then, he will be fine. And in a way, given the investment in our club, isn't that right?
  14. I would be surprised if Pardew thought he needed Carlton Cole, but I have the impression our Chairman does not trust our manager and/or isn't willing to back him in the transfer market. I might be wrong, but if I'm not we have no chance of promotion.
  15. Look DD, if the manager says he needs x, you have to give it to him or sack him.
  16. No it isn't. Please tell me how close Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real and Arsenal are to adminstration. When will people stop this mantra. Overpaying for players is the ONLY route to success. Doesn't world football tell you that? Or are Manchester City planning a garage sale?
  17. No. Where is the holding midfielder we need?
  18. You can't really blame Pardew's tactics. In the first half we created a shed load of opportunities which our players failed to convert. Most noticably, I blame Hammond who had two clear headers, Puncheon whose crosing was abysmal and Barnard for not being in the right place when Connolly laid the ball back brilliantly... We simply did not score when we were in the ascendency and that failing sits with those on the pitch. And what about the players we should have had on the pitch that our Chairman is too tight to buy?
  19. I bet the Spurs board are more than happy...
  20. We didn't and that's why we were relegated and arguably why we are where we are now!!!!
  21. Harry is a top quality manager proven at EVERY club who have employed him and given him freedom to operate his own way...
  22. This is precisely how I feel. Why was Claridge talking about how close Pardew came to losing his job? Why do people think/know this? It says that Cortese doesn't have faith in Pardew. And on this basis, we have zero hope of promotion while he is in charge (Cortese or Pardew).
  23. Then you have more money than sense. I've had £50 on Brighton to go up at 10/1 because it was the only value bet on offer. People who lumped on us for promotion at odds on need their fecking heads examined. I still hope and expect they will be right, but there was no value in that bet at all... When you consider that you could have taken the same money and backed Canford Cliffs to win the Sussex Stakes and seen a bigger return (even money in a place in the morning), and you would have had the enitre winnings in a little over 60 seconds... If you want your money back KP, then back Byword for the Juddmonte International. After that, you're on your own!!
  24. I agreed with him. We were also both right about Burley's second season... But hey, even a stopped clock is right twice a day
