Do you think Lallana and McG lack confidence, pratice or what?
-
It is not pretty granted. But Charlton, Watford, Doncaster, Forest, Norwich - we simply have to finish above three of these. At the moment, we're doing that. And there's no reason to believe the team will get worse with more time is there? Today was a real blow because three points would have been such a lift and we were three minutes away from them. But since half the games are away from home...

If It Wasen't For Davis Where Would We Be?
Legod Third Coming replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Did he have to? I know what you're saying and KD is making great saves - one against Charlton was Banks-class. But that is the job he's paid for and he is, if we're really harsh, still a touch suspect on crosses and commanding his box... We should be grateful we've got him, but you could just as easily say if we could finish a ham sandwich we would be top of the league. -

LOL - what a sensational effort that was! -

Funnily enough I haven't seen other team's keepers make saves because we don't bloody shoot on target. I thought that might be obvious from the league position... -
Regardless, we still miss too many shots and that's simple finishing from wherever you start on the pitch.
-
Right - Pulis - seen him play ever? In a Saints shirt... Send Cork and Pearce back would you?? It is a fact we had to off-load John because of his wages. And Rasiak. I'm not making this stuff up you know. We are where we are. If you think changing manager now will make the blindest difference to who plays up front... We need to score more goals. The blokes who scored 80 between then are not here. We cannot afford them. We get 15k fans at home. Another 15k would add £300,000 to our income at £20 a head. All of this is common sense. £600k more income a month is the difference between watching Patterson and Robertson and Rasiak and John. That's our problem. I didn't blame anyone but I would think it's pretty obviuous maths.

Shock, goalkeeper does what he is paid for... For years Shilton, Flowers and Jones did the same. We're lucky to have him - which is a laugh given the reaction on here to him at the start of last season and before... -
Yep, bringing in a new manager and system is the sure fire way to success - it works for every team every time doesn't it. Christ, have you got any knees left?
-
Was he a tealeaf then?
-
lol - yep it shows we have no idea... We can easily turn it around at home, given that we can win away. We need someone who can finish and we can't afford to keep them here. If a few more people turned up occasionally we might be able to bring Stern John back, that would help.
-
What is it down to then? When we have the best away record in the league bar Wolves?? His poor management?? That somehow only manifests itself in Hampshire?? How strange... I wasn't there today, annoyingly, so listened to Sheffield radio. Sounded to me like we bossed the game and failed to score. Which is down to having no strikers I reckon - although impossible to say since I didn't see it.
-
Not once this season have a I seen unmotivated players. We lack a striker - have done since we loaned out John. For that you cannot blame the current team...
-
Er, fair to compare Sturrock with ten years management in England with a bloke who has had 15 odd games you think? Seriously... And Plymouth started this season in the same shape financially we did, did they?? Poortvliet is doing a reasonable job with the resources he has. Of course, we could change him now and see how we go for the rest of the season...

Ditton again. -
I want a manager who is given a chance and resources. Do you think Jan asked to loan out three strikers who scored 80 goals between them in two seasons??
-
Don't be such a drama queen. He looked well out of his depth at Reading did he? Or in the first half... Grow up. The bloke is managing on a bloody shoe-string with reserves and academy players.

Actually, it has sustained nations.

Lallana Pledges future to Saints - OS

I think he has a lot of good qualities - they simply just don't sit well with many football fans... -

I can only hope you're pricing up this game for Victor Chandler or Ladbrokes - cos I can pay for Christmas then... -

I think I'm alone in this, but I find him quite endeering - like an old uncle who still sleeps with his blunderbuss under the bed but looks after the gardner and housemaid when they retire... I was at a hotel a couple of weeks ago and picked up the magazine from my coffee table. It was called something like 'Hunting, shooting and fishing'. Whose face should greet me from the very page I opened at random - you've guessed it... There he was winning the local Glos shoot with his team, gundog at his side... -

You really have to take this with a pinch of salt. If you have an asset that someone values, you never say you want to sell it - otherwise you lower the price. If he pledges his future here, that also ups his sell-on value.. and so on and so on... But, the guy is playing regular football among a bunch of lads who work together as a team with a fantastic ethic, under a coach who is instilling the very best type of football into them, who seems like a really honest, genuine and decent man - a guy moved to tears let you not forget by our support at Reading! Ultimately, this will always come down to what the club and player think is best for both - finances, career, international chances, etc. But let's just hope in the spirit of the new world post-credit crunch that people start to place less value on money and more on happiness. -
"We will probably go into the game against Manchester United as underdogs..." Er? Does how know something we don't about our fortunes between now and January?
-
Poortvliet happy with "many" of our loan players

Too early to write anyone off. Does no-one recall the lad from Reading who was made sacrifical lamb after one game - where admittedly it looked like he had never seen a football before in his life...
