  1. I'll have two pints of that... and then sleep until the recession is over!!
  2. But this is the reality. Look at Watford and Charlton - the two clubs most comparable to us. Pretty soon we will be the only model in town - and people call Rupert myopic... He might have had this model thrust upon him, but the truth is "growing your own" is the only option left to a club without a benefactor - and those are now rarer than rocking horse dung...
  3. Wouldn't you have to look at clubs with 27 years of top flight football who narrowly avoided relegation last season from the old second dvision? Don't worry, Charlton might have been claiming 20k there last Saturday but there were no more than 16k in reality... Think about this seriously. Which football fans genuinely either go or stay away because of who is on the board?? We draw United, the game will sell out. What does that say??
  4. This 5000 - leaving their seats empty on January 4th are they? Thought not. You'll be lucky if there are 200 genuine objectors staying away because of Lowe.
  5. Through my mole on the board, I have discovered that there will be a short test as the turnstiles before the Manchester United game. Questions will include: 1. Name six members of the 1976 FA Cup team. 2. Who scored in the 6-3 game. 3. Name three number 7s. To help those of you coming for the first time, I have sneakily provided the answers below: 1. Alex Stepney, Brian Greenhoff, Lou Macari, Steve Coppell, Martin Buchan, Sammy McIlroy. 2. Beckham, May, Scholes. 3. Best, Beckham, Ronaldo.
  6. Er, real fans are passionate, unrealistic and lack perspective. It's what the word fanatical actually means. We don't have many I know - I mean we have people on a prediction league who actually predict we will lose, people who think Euell's tackle was a red card offence and who think refs are fair!!! So much for the modern football fan - no wonder Lowe treats them as 'discerning customers'.
  7. Happy to help...
  8. Much as I love the way we've been playing, and no matter what people say we have not got the results we deserve, this game I would be happy to win with a flukey one of Bradley's ass! We need wins to build the confidence to play the right kind of football that we played against Reading and the second half at Charlton! Tomorrow could be the start of a genuine promotion campaign!!! Bring it on.
  9. Nick, I don't dispute for a moment what you have been told but I would be gobsmacked if Paul Allen ever personally visited the club or showed any direct interest. Intermediaries perhaps - maybe people claiming to represent him? If there had been an offer of any description it would be in the public domain through the LSE. So, although Leon can believe that Allen wanted to buy - it's still simply his opinion with no basis in fact, or else we would have seen a tabled bid. Allen, to my knowledge, has never confirmed to anybody that he was ever interested in buying SFC. Why the constant denials from him and his representatives if he was?
  10. Are you Gordon Brown?
  11. I'll pay £20 into a pot to buy Cork and Pearce - no strings.
  12. What total cobblers. Lowe got us relegated fact. So did Peter Varney at Charlton. So have hundreds of Chairmen at football clubs. In every case, do the fans demand the removal of the chairmen?? 99% of fans know as much about being a football chairman and running a business as they do about the Mongolian motor industry. For ten years Lowe presided over a team doing ok. For one year he got us relegated. And that's your evidence? That's it? Thats why he's an African Dictator?? That's why I might be classed as somehow having my snout in the trough because I just want him to get on and do the job? Oh, I forgot - anyone's better than Rupert - like gun runners, Islamic dictators, wanted criminals, presidents who have presided over state-sponsored murder, Americans who bought cheap land from indigenous populations, made their money through slavery, how about Germans who traded Jews during the war?? There's no qualification to be a football chairman. There's no packet of magic beans to grow a 'super' one. We've got what we've got. We could have better. We could have worse. Deal with it. Or raise the money and buy the club. Everything else is a pointless waste of ether and memory.
  13. Does no-on recall that the reason we apparently needed Lowe was investment in the club? Hmm, funny old world.
  14. Wait until 4th January like the other boycotters I would...
  15. If I was an Arsenal fan you mean?
  16. TBH I didn't even think about it like that, but you're right.
  17. Er, do you visit Britain much these days?
  18. Whatever I pay, I am there to watch Lallana, Surman, Pearce, Morgan, Kelvin... It's worse than depressing.
  19. I go all the bloody time and can tell you what it says on their shirt but not where they play!!!!
  20. I have dropped them a note offering to become a late member! But I don't hold out much hope... maybe they will take pity on me if they review the ticket history on my credit card/the database!! AS for a ST - it's a bit different lashing out £500 than finding £30 a week... and I can also see Mrs LTC being well-chuffed if a monkey went through the account in May... Like I say, I am a bit cheesed off, but it's not hard for me to ring someone and get something sorted for this game (hospitality, sponsorship, etc). I'm sure I've got enough contacts. But there's plenty of lads I queue with or sat around me who do the same (better than me) every week who suddenly find their loyalty counts for bugger all in the scrum of general sale. That's where I think we could have done a bit more to recognise the not insignficant punters who are sometimes squeezed out on days like this.
  21. I just hope Benj that the players approach the game with the same 'devil may care' attitude they did against Birmingham in the first half and Reading all game! If they do, and we can get amongst them early, we might surprise a few people. TBH a draw and a replay would be a great result for the club given our situation.
  22. I hope you're right - and tbh I'm not one of those blokes who actually gets that excited about these type of games and having to be there. I don't go to watch Premiership footballers. I'd rather be at Loftus Road or QPR when I can touch the players (oo err!) see their faces and know they hear me. If I don't get a ticket, I could buy hospitality on the firm - but because I'm OK, there will be hundreds in my position who might not be. Anyway, regardless of any twinning ****** I shall enjoy watching us stuff Wedensday and Forest.
  23. I don't disagree about members. However, would it be too hard to go: 1. ST Holders 2. Members 3. Regular Attenders (purchase history this season) 4. Plastic fans who come to watch Ronaldo? My £300+ is all on the credit card database... I actually think the club have got this wrong in not recognising there are bloody loyal fans who cannot afford a ST, did not bother with membership but have still turned out every week.
  24. See above, no issue with members - was one for 20 years! But I cannot be the only bloke who rocks up each week, daughter in tow and could easily miss out to some Lowe objector with a sudden change of heart... Rolleyes****edoffemoticon...
  25. Membership + United = £50 My home tickets this season = £24 x 10...and counting I understand the system and priority to members is fine. To then disregard those who have been through thin and thinner... Sour grapes? YES!!!
