So no then?

Has anyone from either club confirmed we have had a bid accepted? Or is this his agent or an agent trying to sell him to anyone?
-
What a way to make this Saints related...
-
Must be just me but I watched him four times last year and thought if he was called Clogger it would have been more apt... He's big, ponderous but strong as a bulldozer.
-
I'm stunned Guthrie is being released. Did his missus turn Pardew down?

If you want to talk about Jay Rod, and don't want the conversation to cover aspects of the way we play football what the f u c k do you want to talk about? His hair???

Are they looking at a stadium expansion

Have you watched many Premiership games this season?? The standard of football for half the division is no different to that at the top of the Championship. The margins between the quality of the players is wafer thin until you get to the real world class players - then everyone struggles! Players like Nathan Dyer and Delap are doing well in the Premiership but weren't rated here, for example... If you're asking us how we will attack against Vidic and John Terry, the answer is with the same difficulty as Tevez, Dzeko, Rooney and Ageuro, and Messi... If you're saying that Lambert (and our general play) are not quick enought to outwit Fulham, Villa, Swansea, Sunderland, QPR, West Ham, Reading and Norwich, are you sure? You talk about 'the Premiership' as a standard. But it isn't is it? West Brom, for example, are they 'Premiership standard'. Or Wigan?
-
I agree - are Everton better down the flanks at pace than Blackpool? Are Villa quicker than Reading? Are Fulham quicker than West Ham?? There's a lot of bo llox spouted about the quality of the Premiership. There are four world class teams in the Premiership. There are two very good teams. Then there are the rest. And we could easily beat many of them - Wigan, Fulham, QPR, Everton, Villa, Liverpool, Swansea, Norwich, Sunderland, West Ham, Reading... If those teams hold a fear for us we might as well pack up now.

I see they are about to sign someone - but still owe charities money no doubt... Total bunch of k u nts as is anyone who now continues to support them. They need to go bust for the good of humanity - not to allow another crook to launder more cash and fleece more of the needy. -
You jest but I have had a decent punt on Rodgers to be first manager sacked and Liverpool to finish no higher than 8th. Martinez is staying at Wigan who will get relegated... Swansea were going down (second seasonitis) which is why Brendan has jumped, sadly, right into the fire!

I expect (Jay Rod pending) that Lambert and Sharp will become as common as Lambert and Butler... The two of them can work together. Rickie can win everything and hold it up and Sharp is the proverbial fox in the box. I am at a loss as to why this 'missing pace' is essential?? If you play possession football, the BALL does the work, that is the whole point. It is fluidity and movement that defined the best elements of our season. Lallana moving into a space created by Lambert pulling the defenders and then an overlapping full-back or Morgan sliding a ball inside for someone to finish... Movement is far more essential than pace. When an attacker has the ball facing goal he already has a fantastic advantage over a defender/midfielder who has to turn. When Chelsea had Jesper Gronkjear (spelling?) he would frequently clear off with the ball, look up and find the box empty. Whereas when you watch good teams, really good teams, they move forward together and back together, switching the ball around so that the opposition struggle to manage all the available options. Did anyone really watch us play last season and think we were slow? There is a difference between PATIENCE and PACE...
-
When I was 17 I tried to score all the time and failed miserably mostly. Why? Too much pace and enthusiasm, too little confidence, thinking and guile. Now I am 42, I know it's about being in the right place, at the right time... That goes for football, women and business in my experience!
-
He was quick when he was 17, weren't we all... But he was never a Walcott, Robben quick was he? Messie quick? Maybe my memory is going. He had quick feet which helped... Even Lineker and Shearer were not lightning quick by any stretch. And as much as teams like Arsenal have 'pace', they score so few goals because of their outright pace - most are crafted. Put it this way, Jason Roberts and Kevin Davies scored plenty of Premiership goals and I have seen them both beaten for pace by mobility scooters...
-
I'll give you a couple more who are no Usain Bolts... Van Nistelroy Michael Owen Didier Drogba... Striking isn't about pace. It's about TIMING. Trouble is, kids today don't know the difference. Which is why you see so many dissatisfied women in the late teens/early 20s...

I don't believe a football match cost £1.50 in 1988. I was 18 and a pint of beer cost £1.20!

I disagree. And I think it is incredibly short-sighted and disingenuous to say it comes down to luck. Every team knows how a cup game could end. So if they don't practice penalties they are unprepared. Only in England do managers say 'you have to look into the player's eyes after the game and see who 'fancies' it)?!!!!!! Bonkers. In NO other professional sport would you leave something like this to chance. You should know your first five penalty takes. They should take them in training, in the correct order, over and over... Some will say 'you cannot recreate the atmosphere or pressure' - bo llo x. Tiger Woods doesn't have 2,000 people around the practice green when he puts out a hundred times a day... Where is the luck in any penalty?? It's one man versus another. It's about two men pysching out one another. It's about two men's technique. If a non-league team beat United on penalties they are the better side, because they matched them over 120 minutes and then had the better execution of a football skills to win, surely?? Luck surely plays a bigger part in the remainder of a game than it does on penalties??

The problem with anything that has no fixed timing is that is has no fixed timing! Golden goal is a disaster for television coverage and transportation, and when tried has resulted in teams trying not to concede ahead of trying to score...

When will we hear from Nicola Cortese?

Anyone Else Having To Change Seats?

I don't know where this family centre is but I've been in the Chapel (near the back) all season and can confirm: 1. View is excellent. 2. The atmosphere dedpends on how willling you are to open your gob and use it. 3. The kids do not get in the way. 4. It has not adversely affected results... Thinking about nailing a permanent spot right behind the penalty spot to be honest. -
He's had the deal in his hands for ages! It was just RDM winning the Champion's League which has thrown a spanner in the proverbial... But he'll still get the job. I'm sure we'll have NA until Xmas is my guess. And if he's doing well then, he'll be fine because he could easily prove himself the next Pep.

Thinking penalties are a lottery is so typically fecking British... When golf goes to a play off is that a lottery too? Well either golfer could hit a poor shot, the ball could spin on the lip of the cup... Penalties are a SKILL. A football skill. They take mental strength (check) and technique (check). If Blatter wants to address the real tragedies in football (what a ridiculous word to choose), he could look at introducing technology to prevent games being decided on the ability or not of an official to make a judgement about an event that may or may not have hapepned fifty feet from where he is stood...
-
Why? What's wrong with them?? People say it comes down to an inividual. So what? a team is made of individuals. Penalties are a TECHNICAL skill in football. It's like a bowl-out in cricket. If you are shyte at penalties, try to win the game....

Team you most want to beat next year...

All of them. For my own pleasure and to shove it up Turkish's arse!
