  1. More to the point it shows players like Fonte they are NOT a shoe in.
  2. The best bit in his book is the trip back on the Arsenal team bus after a certain lad called Shearer played against them...
  3. So right. List for me all the wingers tearing up the Premiership?? And yet it's a travesty we have Holmes on the bench... And I am a big fan of Lee Holmes but we are not a team that plays it wide and crosses it into the box - truth is we're BETTER than that old game...
  4. Take that you miserable feckers!!!!!
  5. What is he tenor, alto, baritone??
  6. This is the first time I have heard radio commentary for years and now I finally understand Alpine and the remainder of the suicide squad.
  7. Sounds an open game barring the goal.
  8. Thanks Jonny wouldn't have known I could listen.
  9. He was alright, no great shakes but good enough. Reeves was better but then tired but they are both kids... Also, to those who say Reeves is just a converted left back. Two words. Kevin Phillips. Three if you want to add the 'S'...
  10. I did make a point above that the shot he tipped over against Bristol was as good as any save I've seen of late. It's the old problem, saves go unnoticed, mistakes don't. The curse of the keeper...
  11. I think it's just a factual degenration isn't it? At 41 my reactions are nowhere near what they wre at 21!! That's why the birds seem to be able to get away these days...
  12. I thought he should have held both shots but did anyone see Reina against Citeh?? Keepers simply don't catch the ball any more. Maybe it's the ball, maybe it's the coaching, who knows? But in the Bristol game as well as that shot that bounced out that he saved again and then went in, he made a brilliant near post tip over that many a keeper would have let it. Tell me, is there genuinely a keeper of Shilton or even Niemi's standard out there any more???? If Arsenal and United can't find one, how the hell can we...
  13. Couldn't we bring Scot McDonal back to his spiritual home??!
  14. Depends where he scored them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I could score 14 goals against Motherwell, Dundee or any of the other teams that make-up a league that is the equivalent of the Isthmian League Division south...
  15. Sorry wrong use of the word average - what I meant was a very average player can end up on £50k per week!! So if you're a player like Lallana, Sharp, Lambert and have a desirability factor just being in the Championship doesn't mean you can't command a high wage. Does that make sense??
  16. Wouldn't surprise me. If you think about it, even an average Premiership Player is now on 50K per week.
  17. Agreed, there's half a season to go yet - claims Leicester are out of it are a bit premature! All depends whether Pearson can bring together a group of talented footballers and make them a team. Would you back against him?
  18. Interesting though. I wonder what our wage structure is really like? And what a Championship club has to pay these days? Blackpool famously had their 10k per week limit and look how theat panned out... If we're serious about promotion and then serious about the Champion's League (quoted from someone quoting Liebherr/Cortese), at some point we have to start paying what is considered real football wages. (Yes, I know 20k a week seems like a lot of money but it's not really in the world of football is it? - that's a question not rhetorical...)
  19. Depends where they are in the process, they might be sat with architects in London for weeks on end trying to decide whether the windows should open out or in... Been there...
  20. I reckon you could have written that about Lallana... I always thought he had a touch of the Stephen Gerrard about him and it turns out he's Lionel Messi!!!
  21. Must have been at a different game. I thought he was bright and breezy against Palace, as he had been in a home league cup game a few weeks before - good feet, good movement, but clearly young and raw. But then I didn't think we were at all bad against Palace, just let down by an inability to score! And met a few Eagles on the train who agreed and could all see why we were (and still are at least for ten days) top of the league.
  22. Don't be a fecking idiot!!! He also had a call from George Weah's cousin...
  23. I genuinely have to ask if you watch us play often? Under Pardew what you describe is right, but it fundamentally isn't the case now. Lambert scores goals because he is a superb footballer. But that's like saying our defence relies on Kelvin being a good goalkeeper. If you had another Rickie Lambert he wouldn't get in the side unless Rickie#1 was injured. We need striking options because of injury not because we are reliant on one player. At the start of last season when Adkins arrived and it was clear his game was pass and move, there were many (me included) who questioned whether Lambert could adapt to this style. Because in the previous season he had been a Grade A Premium Target Man. Rickie had adapated brilliantly because he is a class player with a great brain. So you have an issue. Are you asking for a direct replacement so we can play the same way (you think) which is designed to suit Lambert? Or are you asking for options to play another way?? I agree 100% with you we need more depth. But you simply do not go out and buy Rooney#2, Messi#2 or Lambert#2. I would love for Silva and Aguero to be injured at Man Citeh so people could understand how important a team's best players are and that there will be an inevitable dip in the team's form if the best players are either injured or off their game.
  24. There was a prime example of this on Friday night when SDR got into the box and tried to pull his cross back. En route, there was no doubt he was fouled but his first instinct was to carry on and attempt to cross the ball to create a goal. Part of me thinks he should have gone down which I HATE!!! I don't ever want to think like that. But because you know it's going to happen to us... It's a bloody shame that most sports with the possible exception of golf and snooker have just got less honest... Even in cricket now you see shameful appealing. Failing to walk is one thing but protesting your innocence when the camera shows you've leathered it, or appealing when the camera shows it hit an arm guard just makes you out to be a cheat...!
