This is my biggest concern, not scoring goals from outside the box for the extra points...

I think that while we look like Barcelona (stripes), feel like Barcelona (soft sea breeze) and have played like Barcelona, one or two of our fans need a wake up call. We are not Barcelona. If we win the rest of our games this season 2-0, that will do me thanks. Happy New Year!

Paul Lambert is Scottish. It has nothing to do with preparation.

now what position do you expect us to finish?

Saints Vs Pompey Match & Reactions Thread
Legod Third Coming replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
I would say that was true of previous games but not this one. We created enough chances in the second half to have won comfortably. Guly was slow onto Lallana's through-ball, Lallana paused when he should have shot and Morgan really has to work on shooting accuracy. In previous games they have not worked well together, but today we were just undone by a hopeful ball and some poor keeping/defending. Either Guly or Kelvin could really have claimed that ball. -
Well if it's anything like their normal finishing accuracy someone warn the shoppers in Gun Wharf...

He could dance back into the side, maybe? I'll get my coat....

Has Adkins taken the bus down a one way street...
Legod Third Coming replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Yep I can see that argument. Not sure I buy it completely - I'm not sure the atmosphere of a Derby should affect a professional preparation any more than any other game? But you're right it will be a new experience for some players and they need to rise above it. -
That's why I said I hope he playing to the crowd and not actually taking any different approach. Although most fans are grown ups, they do understand that we're in this league to win it and losing to the skates would simply be the same as Doncaster - three points dropped!! If we lose twice to Pompey and get promoted as Champions, I won't give a toss. Maybe it will give them a little satisfaction in Carey Street as their club is wound up...

Hmm, I thought it was probably tongue in cheek but nice to know we have the closet skate outed on the forum!!! -
Posted elsewhere in error, my thoughts below: I am 100% behind Nigel and his methods but I'm also a little concerned. Why is the game against Portsmouth to be approached any differently to any other away game? We won't win the league by winning one game. Our motivation to win should be 100% game in and game out. All I can see by focusing on one game in this way, is that the players come on the pitch over-pumped, one is sent off within minutes (my money is on Morgan) and we watch another three points away from home slip away... We have the class and capability to rise above this tribal b o ll o x and deliver three points. Plain, simple, straightforward. We can crow about it afterwards to our hearts content, but if we lose this (a game we have now made a primary focus), how does that stand us any stead for future away games that we have now rendered 'less important'... I hope he is purely playing to the crowd with this one and that, in fact, we're approaching this game exactly the same as all other games!!

Not anymore - to be honest I grew up! I still want to sing and get behind my team and I will from anywhere in the ground that takes my fancy. And if Bart is picked, I'll get behind him. Because the job of taking the p i s s out of a Southampton player while he's on the pitch is not the job of a Southampton fan. You might as well go and sit in the opposition fans.
-
Sure, if the crowd is full of w a n k e r s who don't get behind their players... Thankfully, most of them are on here on match days.

Do you really believe we will be promoted this season,Yes or No ?
Legod Third Coming replied to bjk's topic in The Saints
In five of the past six seasons the team top at Xmas has been promoted, so the chances are over 83% in our favour. -
Dear Nigel, Your job description... have us top at Xmas. Oops, you already appear to be doing it very well. Oh well, better shut the feck up then...

Win lose or draw at least Nigel Adkins has a smile on his face and a spring in his step. If I was an Everton fan I would rather grate my own testicles into a decent pasta than listen to David Moyes, miserable fecker. Same goes for half the managers I seem to be watching tonight...
-
Bart was terrible today. That mistake was awful. Exactly the same as the one made by Rob Green for England. How's he doing out of football... oh...
-
I never put a man off a bet - but I wonder whether the Adkins' style is suited to international management?
-
FC - you can't on the one hand criticise Citeh and Chelsea as playthings of the rich when we are exactly that... Truth is, that's life. It always was. Chairmen have bought and sold football clubs for years. And even where they didn't own them, they've run them as such! As for Everton fans, they've always been the second best club in that city. What they see is another club in the same position have turned the tables and they're envious, who wouldn't be, in fairness. But football is cyclical - when I first started watching, Chelsea came within a point of relegation to the third division!! Big names will rise, big names will fall. Football will carry on.

Are we getting the best out of Jack Cork

Against Brighton he was outstanding. Just do whatever we did that day, every day! -
Saints "do not have a massive pot of cash"
Legod Third Coming replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
The thing is we HAVE thrown obscene amounts of cash around...!!!! We were the tenth highest spending club in England last summer - and have just lashed about another £1m plus on a central defender. I think people get confused with what the top elite pay and what the real world pay. And if someone wants to tell me that Sven's £5m on Mills was better value than £1.3m on Jos the Boss, then I'll show you a cretin!!! -

Legod Third Coming replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Can I be honest? I'm sick and bloody tired of dialogue - politicians want a dialogue with voters, retailers want a dialogue with customers, teachers want a dialogue with pupils... It is, frankly, a lot of complete b o ll o x! Here's the deal. If we win football matches under a half decent manager playing half decent football - who gives a flying turkey if the owners are silent mormons living in Llandudno?? (With the proviso that they are not bent - well at least not Madoff bent, in truth these days I begin to wonder whether anyone with means is truly straight and didn't half the aristocracy nick their wealth from someone?!) Same as the politicians - stop fecking talking and let's see some action! Fill the potholes, speed the trains, upgrade the hospitals, FUND the armed forces and do the bloody job you were elected for. Don't FFS ask voters anything - half of them of are inbreds who couldn't determine whether the sun should rise in the morning... All we need to see from our Chairman/Owners is - appointing a good manager (check), supporting his judgement (check) and running the club with a view to success and sustainability (check). All else is just commentary.
