Don't think Palace chucked on eleven kids against us, they didn't. WP playing against lads like Ambrose will have really shown him what football is about. Martin - won everything in the air really. Looked much more composed than Seaborne. Harding - did ok but I can now see Fox is first choice and why. Butterfield - has a touch of Benali about him. Final ball not great, works bloody hard but not Captain material and not really up to our standard now. De Ridder - hmmm. What an enigma. At times sublime. At times couldn't trap a bag of cement. An impact player if ever I saw one. We played the best football by a mile but were undone by more clinical final third play - classic smah and grab, twice! And an object lesson in concentration. Palace fans I chatted to on the train could all see why we are top of the league. Hey ho. I love the cups but this maybe a blessing.

I went to the game last night. I went of my own free will. I am grown up. It has not eluded me that the Carling Cup has been devalued. And I'm glad I went. We were done by two mistakes and possibly the biggest Homer since Matt Groening started doodling in High School. But I've seen two young lads who could well feature in future - both really excellent. I've seen enough to know Johnno Forte is not a realistic option up front. I now know why Fox gets in ahead of Harding. I know Danny Butterfield is a wholehearted player who doesn't quite cut it at Championship level. And most of all I know why De Ridder doesn't start!!!

Quite - and our goal supremacy is quite staggering. We are averaging more than 2 goals per game - early days I know but in anyone's book that is very impressive. More impressive is that the goals are being scored by all sorts of people and that we still looked good in attack on Tuesday without our best player on the pitch.

I wish people would stop moaning about the atmosphere. It's like jockeys who come in after the race and moan that there 'was no pace'. If you are in the stadium, YOU are the answer.

I thought you might find this website of interest. The statistics here make compelling reading. Our 6 game form is not the best, but here are some things that we ARE best at: Scoring - we are averaging 2.25 goals per game (sit down if you keep bleating about needing a striker...). Next best is Peterborough with 2.00. Scoring - it is 12 games since we failed to score. Next best is Leeds with 9. Winning against top half sides - we are the best team in the league. Stop with the claim we don't succeed against the top sides... Goal supremacy - ours at 1.17 is ahead of next best West Ham at 0.92. There are some things we're not so good at but frankly, we're five points clear and I'd prefer to reflect on the above!!! He's a good player but not a direct replacement for Adam. Chappers has a nasty side to him which can be really effective. Adam will beat players with skill. Chappers will simply cut them in half!!!
