Thought he was fantastic today. Ran his socks off, wasn't scared to try things and didn't look at all out of place against Premiership (albeit not very good) opposition. Really showed he has the heart of a lion as well.

  3. To the pompey players: Wages in a brothel He spent your wages in a brothel Wages in a broooooothel
  4. there is a saying at Sky - you're never wrong for long
  5. I've been chatting to a few Gasheads and they're more than happy that we're taking him. I've seen him and he's not exactly brilliant (or good for that matter). If anything Morgan will be teaching him a lot. On the other hand, AP hasn't got much wrong yet in the transfer market and I trust him completely
  6. I thought it was H&M
  7. I think I remember someone like Sir Bobby Robson (God rest his soul) saying on tv that it took teams about 5 or 6 games to gel properly. He was talking about the pressures of being an international manager and getting the team to bond quickly
  8. Still in shock at the quality of the latest 2 signings. Just off to the Home Office and not leaving until the work permits are cleared (taking chains and padlocks to show I mean business) Who's coming with me?
  9. Why not be honest, you wouldn't be happy unless we 70 points now. Have a cup of tea, a biscuit, read Bella, Hello or something and leave football alone for a while until you a) get bored of the idea of it or b) we're in the PL where your moaning becomes more insignificant
  10. we've not been doing that for the past 5 years under a variety of different managers. It will take more than a magic wand to undo it in just over a month.
  11. sorry, 1 & 4 are close together on the keypad
  12. I really think that people who are expecting us to be in positive points by now after the pre-season we've had, have know idea what this league is about at all. It is going to take time and the squad we went into this League with weren't ready to compete in it. If you look around this league, it isn't short of good experienced managers who know how to prey on a team like ours who are inexperienced (as a group) at this level. Pardew knows this and (Mellis) apart, that's why he's brought in the players he has. Now I don't expect instant results from this, but the performances have been getting better and Pardew's signings (Lambert, Hammond, Harding) have set a standard for the rest to follow. I hope he'll get a few more players in before the transfer window closes and I expect things to improve rapidly. It just needs that one game where it all clicks and we're away. A bit more work on the training ground and I don't think we're too far off that.
  13. Hasn't he just spent about £10M clearing our debts?
  14. that's not a bad idea - could you imagine buying a Lawrie big mac before a match by the man himself with a portion of Crouch's curlies?
  15. After the amount of cash LC put into the club to keep us afloat and the obvious achievements of Lawrie Mac, I think they're moving the sign from the box to stick it on a stand and name it after them. Glad you pointed that out and that you're in favour of the idea
  16. no, teams who have a full preseason generally look good at the start of the season - or at least prepared. Teams who have been with their manager TWO (count them) weeks, take a little bit longer to sort out. This is especially when all the young players have had their confidence shot and there has been a culture of losing at the club for the past 3/4 seasons. How about we club together, lend you a fiver and then you can buy yourself a clue.
  17. we have got good catering - I think you could be on to something!
  18. Thanks for pointing out something which shouldn't have to be pointed out - it's becoming a bit like p*ssing in the wind

whilst he is the better striker and I'm fully behind singing his name and supporting him, it would seem that the only way to spur him on is to make him play for a contract. That's when we saw his best form for us. Since he signed on, he's seems to have got a little too comfortable
  20. I actually give up.
  21. Of course we were better last season in a higher division but then, we hadn't just come out of administration, sacked off half the squad, brought in a manager 2 weeks before the start of the season and completely changed the core of the team. We DO need time to gel as a squad and for AP to put his pattern on the team. I'm sure there's a 5 year plan in place, not a 5 game plan. Have some patience for FFS
  22. Maybe he hasn't got the legs for it any more. He's not blessed with a football brain, so can't create an extra yard of space or two by thinking ahead or break up play by reading the game. From what I saw tonight, it seemed like he was hoofing it when a more composed player would have passed and dropping back to play pointless passes back to a full back or CB which invited trouble for them. He also went missing in midfield and left Schneiderlin being overrun by Swindon's 3. But most importantly, physically he looks fit but seemed off the pace
  23. As long as we give AP a season to sort things out, not much. There was always a 2 year plan to get us out of L1 and I think that as long as there's stability, we'll be ok. Pinnacle haven't helped, but AP's a good manager and it would be insulting to him to blame our problems at the end of the season on what's happened now.
