  1. looking at MOM stats. ..almost everyone can be " the best " ..on their day. I think Steven Davis also deserves a place on your " best list ".
  2. such condemnation for your 4000th post, Roger.
  3. how did you guess ?
  4. Wonder how this will affect team performance on Saturday........?
  5. The real question must be .. How will this affect their team performance... on Saturday ?
  6. No!.. his knee....not your a*** !
  7. I'm pleased someone else reads the stats. " Weston Saint ". Stats. don't always prove a case, but they can be interpreted in many different ways. I was always a fan of Beatts, but he did have a very unfortunate start to his career, and sadly ....an equally sad finish, after he left to go to Everton.
  8. just watched the post match " interviews / inquest " on the game (with Martin Hunter quite miffed at our performance). He did say they had planned only 45 mins. for Sam - as it was his first game back. Similar comments came from RK in the earlier interview about player signings. I wouldn't expect to see Sam on the bench for some weeks, until he's had a few 90 minutes games - and scored some goals. Right now, Ryan Seager is the man in form...11 goals in 11 Under 21 league games.
  9. ........it seems that none of us really knows the actual wording to this loan? but in simple language - if an option to buy.....and a pre-determined sum of money was mentioned, (as this apparantly was) but that can be later reneged on....then why was a sum of money mentioned at all?
  10. ......and I'm not disputing that statement - either . The reference to him " possibly returning " was made by others on this thread long before me ....my post was just...a philosphical viewpoint. I'm sure that my anger / frustration / disappointment is shared by many others on here..(I see we're past 100 posts) but there surely must be someone in the football world who can tame this maverick!
  11. Sat in my house in Stockholm watching the game on TV ....and seeing the replay from 6 different angles...........
  12. I don't disagree with your statement. I was merely commenting on those earlier posts that suggested he might be given a " second chance ". The thing that is most " galling " is that he has a long contract, probably with vastly-inflated salary (compared to some others in the club)..and we are committed to supporting him with that contract. Pochettino, who " supposedly " thought to " tame him " got it terribly wrong, and now we are paying the price of that. The underlying thought is that Koeman " might " be able to reform him, and that - were he to succeed - we might actually have a talented player at our disposal, (albeit an unpredictable one).
  13. young players can go off the boil quickly, and it takes time to recover any real form.... (Historically)... you can name almost any of our younger legendary strikers....who came through the ranks; Chivers, Channon, Moran, MLT, and even Shearer who burst on the scene as teenagers, but took a season or two for them to become " regulars " , let alone first named strikers. Sam G. has shown that he's a cut above the rest, but he won't become a Harry Kane overnight. Although he wasn't our youth product, James Beattie was still only around 20 when he arrived, and his first couple of seasons were a total disaster, before he eventually got going.
  14. ......ah! ....me too, but don't forget that " world class" Arsenal full back Kieron Gibbs
  15. I saw that too, but there's a lot of difference between spending time on an exercise bike (I can do that and I'm a pensioner)....and running for 5 miles a game and scoring a goals every other match.
  16. Before the Swansea game; I thought a good win would give us a breathing space in third place. It was, after all - a " should win " game, which ended up as a must win, but we lost . Now that Arsenal have( most) of their squad fit again.....(I don't count Jack Wilshere).... they are looking stronger, and Man U have started winning games - without looking very special, either. If you told me (Koeman-type words)... .that we wouldn't have any more serious injuries to key players, and that we would regain our early season form, then I might say ......maybe. .....right now, I'd say that a Europa League place would be considered a big success. In either eventuality, we'll need a much stronger squad next season - if we do qualify.
  17. ......don't we all ? I sometimes think one has to be a bit masochistic to keep coming back to this site every day , but then again I don't play Candy Crush, and the like ....
  18. Bringing back Osvaldo?......Mmm.....stranger things have happened in football ....and no man is beyond redemption.... (as we saw with " the Puncheon Incident ") . Osvaldo, is of course a bit of a " loose cannon " but interestingly.....his last match was no.16 last season (away at Newcastle).... and only 4 players who started that game are still at the club; Gazzaniga, JWP, Steven Davis and Jay Rodrigues, .....(although Fonte, Yoshida and Schneiderlin were on the bench). Which means that at least half the squad have never even met him.. IF..I were RK...and was considering this option, I'd have a long, heart-to-heart with Jose Fonte (now captain) and ask him about his feelings on the matter....as he is the one most directly affected. Fascinating dilemma, but there again, I was one of those who thought Puncheon should have been released - after his spat with authority......
  19. even Chelsea have to balance their book in line with FFP. A good deal for a player we've seen enough of for the last 5 months. Maybe this loan idea isn't so bad after all?......perhaps Les said. " we'll take Ryan permanently now, but for £8.75mill....and the money will be in your bank account by Friday Morning ." ....(OK I'm guessing - but he must have said something that worked, if indeed we did get a reduced transfer fee)
  20. you have a valid point that several others have also put forward, but on the other hand..... He clearly wasn't RK's first choice player, and only got in when others were injured, having £3 million now goes some way towards getting a replacement when he would have walked away for nothing...in May.
  21. He needs to get a goal - to settle his nerves. I'm sure he's had as many shots as anyone else since Christmas, yet still can't find the back of the net. Looked... (sort of) OK yesterday, but all his crosses into the box were far too close to the keeper. Saints MOM for me : Steven Davis. but I thought we made Fabianski look better than he is, though.
  22. We need to control Charlie Austin, and without Wanyama on the pitch that's going to be difficult. We still have the " best "(?) defence in the Prem. but without actually scoring ourselves, we can't expect much more than a 0-0 draw. (with luck)
  23. .think he meant " perverse " as in ........" a determination to prove people wrong ...."
  24. would be interested in Whitey Grandads's comment? .....(from ref's perspective). YES - it was a hard tackle, but Bertrand seemed to have his eyes down and won the tackle, and I'm sure it hurt, but the lad did make heavy weather of it. Did he leave SMS on crutches, or in an ambulance? I wonder? I watched the Swedish TV channel and (apparantly) the lad Barrow had played at a Swedish club (Norrköping), and therefore got a lot of praise that I thought wa sa bit overdone.
