  1. another brilliant piece of negotiation, 'arry :lol:hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  2. well there was that one game v. Man.City at SMS, but after that .....
  3. maybe Turkish ? .....we'll have to wait and see.
  4. Not for the first time, the name of Joh Guidetti has come up (noted in Echo). He is a player I have been writing about for several seasons - since his teenage days in Sweden . JG was getting rave reviews already as a 16 year old with the Academy set-up Brommapojkarna in Stockholm. He played U17/18 for Sweden and was quickly bought by Man.City and spent a couple of great seasons in their youth system. Not old / experienced enough for the Prem.yet, he was loaned out to Feyernoord where his manager was - guess who?. JG had a great season and scored around 20 goals, but was stricken with a strange ailment (connected with food poisoning from shellfish ? can't recall) -but the effects of which, took ages to overcome. Returning to England, MC loaned him out to Stoke, where " Sparky " gave him the last 10 mins. in the occasional game, and he was well and truly miffed. His exploits at Celtic since the summer have been well-publicised -even in Sweden, and getting him to SMS at £2 million - would be a real killing. An agressive striker, with lots of enthusiasm, he occasionally reminded me of the " young James Beattie" plus the goals. Let's hope that RK is as interested as the media seem to suggest.
  5. (despite living in Sweden nowadays)......have been a fan for 55 years, through thick, and a lot of thin times. I was born in So'ton, lived a mile from the Dell for over 30 years ... Who else would I support? Might as well change try and change my blood type (O by the way).
  6. .....just a huge groan from the fans
  7. .....or, he has the most hits on the woodwork (six times) of any player in the Prem.this season. If we can't raise the bar, or widen the goals at SMS, then we will need to buy another striker ASAP.
  8. Did anyone on here bet on; Saints to finish Top Four ..at 80-1 , at the beginning of August (after the Fab Five) had jumped ship and were were amongst the favourites to be relegated.?
  9. yes I did see it on the Net, Draino, but take a look ......about half the posts on this page were prompted by something someone saw in the media.
  10. ....more importantly to whom? .....and for £ how much?. Starting price on our FB's.... is £30 million.....did I hear 32?
  11. it's the standard " media experts " formula.... trying to safeguard their own reputations, and the " good name " of the bigger clubs Always speak well of the Big Four, but if Saints beat one of them, we were lucky ....and they played badly.....if we don't win, the balloon has burst and we're on the way down. What will they say (I wonder) ... if we are still in top four come May?
  12. exactly ...and you could probably say the same about Toby Alderweireld sitting on the bench at Athletico Madrid....and Ryan Bertrand being loaned out to half-a-dozen clubs, yet being ignored by Mourinho.. Whatever Svengali-type power Koeman has over players, it darn well works.
  13. Is it a special requirement in Spurs contracts that they need to know how to play football, or ....? I know quite a few of them are good at fouling ....but...
  14. interesting thought, Turkish. It may be the lad likes living up Nor'f, and won't fancy a move down to the cissy South. In which case, the deal may never get off the ground. one of my dictionary definitions is : a series of events, or a story stretching over a long period. I didn't look it up especially for the article, but I think it fits the bill IMHO. SOURCE: Collins English Dictionary MILLENNIUM EDITION
  15. . well SaintNeil, perhaps it was just a slip of the finger that I missed editing. Don't read too much into it.
  16. think I'd say he's the best around at the moment by a mile, and certainly on a very short list of all-time Saints' RB's....but it's a generational thing, so difficult /unfair to make comparisons.
  17. .I note that this " story " has surfaced again, after it was rumoured we were after him last year, and now Liverpool's name has been mentioned, too. Don't know how many people have seen him play, but if he's in " the Black Box ", then his name would surely have have come up by now. Right back is the one position that we don't have any established " cover " for. Successive managers have tried Yoshida at RB,in emergencies, where he looked uncomfortably out of position and although Alderweireld DAJFU there, I like to see Toby better as a CB. If we succeed in getting Byram - will it be as cover, or is it the first signs of getting a replacement for Clyne? - when he eventually moves. If Clynie moves on to MU (as rumoured), he'd get the same terms, (or better) than Luke Shaw has, as it would seem that 100K /week is a bit beyond Saints' budget for full-backs. Lots of players will want to see the end of season League positions - before deciding on where they want to play next season. One thing for sure, Sam Byram won't want to stay another season in the Championship, if these type of offers are to be believed. Leeds have been in a rut for several seasons, and a bad finish might see them uncomfortably close to the bottom three.
  18. Agree witht hat one Vectis. Think his real pronlem is not getting a regular start. Listening to his interview.. he seems to be taking it in his stride, but it's clear that he 'd like to be starting but accepts his place on the bench is the only alternative at present. He's strted twice , instead of Pelle and Tadic...and subbed for Tadic and Mane, so doesn't have the same role all the time.
  19. rumour has it.... we will have another striker.... in a week or so ....his name is ...Jay Rodriguez.
  20. Agree Hypo..... We've seen the progression from the nervous Adkins arrivals in the Prem., then Pochettino's more agressive style , by now surely everyone from the U18's upwards knows how we like to play, so that Koeman's knack seems to be improving the individual player's abilities and building their confidence. Not sure that Elia's " bad boy reputation" is really deserved, but he did seem very grateful to RK for giving him the chance ....and not afraid to say so . More of the same please.
  21. Ronald Koeman always says he knows his best team and likes to keep the same line-up (something that's been impossible in the last few weeks.) I think we'd all say that Toby, Morgan and Victor are normally automatic choices, and so to come up with 3 away wins in a week without them speaks volumes for the "depth of the squad " we are always discussing. There is probably still room for " another Pelle" ..maybe that's a fit JayRod?) ...and a top class keeper (just in case), but Koeman must be seeing success beyond his wildest dreams.
  22. I agree - given time . TBH I wouldn't want to see him take the responsibilty of totally replacing Morgan next week, but he looks to have tremendous potential.
  23. what a great performance for Elia, if Mané retains HIS form when he's back, Koeman will have a problem choosing who to play...... Good display from Harry Reed....what he may lack in height, he certainly makes up for in muscle.... Now eight League and Cup matches without defeat.....hope that " blip " was just history.
  24. I seem to recall one story/ rumour/ suggestion ....that Luke was on his way to Man.Utd - even as soon as he'd signed for us. Details ?(not clear) ....something like .....he played a year or so for us, and then moved on....which was ...exactly what did happen.....
