  1. .....for a short term loan anyway. I think it's a good solution to bring on our " younger " players. Hoskins and Reeves and already out on loan - so why not ? Everyone admits JWP has great talent, but he's not better than our regular midfielders - at present...a run of a few games will give him the match practice he badly needs. Being on the bench, and (maybe) getting 15 mins. sub time isn't going to make him a Prem. player.....but getting 90 mins. games every week - just might.
  2. Had 15 shots to their 5......(and it was 21-11 against MU).....if we can only get some more on target, we'll demolish someone.
  3. Nice to have another fan in this country, Zlavik.....but it ought to be .....a university
  4. almost played them off the park at times, but we must defend corners better........
  5. say that again, his goal tally is far better than many who have 20-20 vision and still can't score. Surely doesn't matter as long as he can see the " whites of the posts " ..what does it matter. Are they afraid he might not know which way they are kicking . DAFT I CALL IT !
  6. I rarely hear Ferguson complimenting anyone except his own players, and defending them at all costs. It would have been hard for him not to have to complimented us for that performance, especially when you consider he had to put on his best defenders to shore them up at the back in order to hold out. Although he got the points, it must have worried him that other Euro clubs were able to see the way to deal with his " super-team "
  7. Considering he was rated one of the most competitive midfielders in Europe, you can't expect him to go through the season without picking up some cautions. In comparison to some of the former " hard-headed midfielders " we've had in the past ; Hurlock, Marsden, Quashie and Prutton Morgan's disciplinary record almost puts him in the choir-boy catagory.
  8. ..that really was 'arry at his worst - wasn't it? More money down the drain. Lowe must have flipped to give him the OK on that lot. OK There was a good goal from Camara (as I recall) ..and a few 45 mins. apps from Jamie.....but most of the others wouldn't make the "where are they now " column.
  9. OF course, ..there is still room for signing of free agents, and there was talk of MP wanting one of his old Argie buddies from Spain.
  10. very mixed opinions on a player I always felt was the perfect utility player. Arriving in Nov 1999, he started off at RB, and later moved up to right MF, letting in Jason Dodd to the full back place. He managed 4 goals in each of his first two seasons, and his 6'3" height made him a very useful asset as an extra attacker. He eventually moved over to take the no.11 shirt upon the arrival of (Glenn Hoddle's purchase) Dan Petrescu, (though that was short-lived). The introduction of Marsden and Delap meant he dropped down the pecking order, but he still did a good job when coming off from the bench and secured points in 1-1 draws in away games v. Sunderland ...and at Arsenal, when we saw the now legendary photo of him out-jumping FOUR Arsenal defenders to head home an 80th minute equaliser. There was little chance of him gaining any of the regular shirts, after the arrival of Fernandes, Anders Svensson and the consistent performances from Matt Oakley. IMHO he was a better player than many gave him credit for, but got criticism from some fans, when filling in for injured James Beattie on several occasions, but not being able to replicate JB's goal-scoring form. Whilst never being regarded as a class Prem. player, he suffered the fate of many " utility " players, in that he willingly played anywhere he was asked, but then lost sympathy with those who never quite saw him as a first team regular. Certainly, as a midfielder ...his goal tally was quite reasonable - especially when compared with some of the others around him, and his goals often secured points for wins, as well as some other drawn games (as above).
  11. that would complicate the situation at SMS. Apparantly Tadanari Lee (likes to be called Chung) ....and this guy is Lee Chung Yong. Sounds like something out of the Goon Show ...wasn't it the Ýíng Tong Song......? If we had both it'd be easier to call them Smith and Jones, I guess.
  12. it is now ....even on the Bolton site.
  13. and now with Barnard out on loan the only one I have questions about is ...Danny Butterfield, because I think Chaplow will be with us a bit longer.
  14. given the choice of the options on the OP....I'd say a little bit of both
  15. I seem to recall that Aaron Martin was supposed to be a "season-long " loan at Palace... but the clubs mutually agreed to cancel the agreement. Perhaps such " return " clauses are more common than we thought ?
  16. .....or maybe definitely?
  17. yeah probably rubbish anyway. The last player I can recall that we bought for such a cheap price was.....Rickie Lambert !
  18. ......and about time too.
  19. actually he said top six in his Sky interview, and he didn't put a time-frame on it, other than to say that " keeping a team of young talented players for 3-4 years would make a big difference." But successful teams revolve around one or two players ....we do mainly - in our case it's Rickie Lambert. When such players move on, it becomes a different ball game ( no pun intended). Arsenal lost van Persie, and Chelsea Drogba...(and soon Frank Lampard and eventually John Terry), and struggle to replace them. They might not be top six forever ! It was hard to watch a Liverpool side with (goal-less) Torres playing, even more comical with Andy Carroll... and will be even more difficult for them when they (eventually) lose Steven Gerrard. It takes time to get a new formation becasue (hard as they might look) ..there's only one Drogba....one Rooney etc, It may be hard to see now, but if the upcoming Academy lads have half the talent that Walcott, Bale and Alex O-C had, and what we now see in Luke Shaw, then we won't have much to complain about. On a day-to day basis Cortese and the backroom staff can see the potential, many people on here only see the problems.... and some are incredibly impatient into the bargain.
  20. have to agree with that. He might be rated because he's a Swedish international, (but TBF there isn't much competition)... and I've not seen him play so many outstanding games......
  21. yes, you did - well done !
  22. Spoke with several Swedish fans here (he played for two different Stockholm clubs).... He really was a " character" and everyone liked him, a great competitor but few would agree that he was anywhere near top class.
  23. ......I watched the first match and he came on as an 80th minute sub !...not much chance to do anything there.
