  1. Probably not. I read the OP... as a player who had left us by choice, but returned to us later on.
  2. you mean because he's French ....or ? TBH I always thought Schneiderlin would end up going to Arsenal ...got that one wrong.
  3. maybe he should be played as a striker ....and take the pressure off Charlie Austin ?
  4. Mmm:blush:. ...didn't Martin Hunter say they were a good side? Our U23 start side contains four U18 players ..a 19 year old keeper.. and no recognised goal scorer. .... almost everyone on the bench is U18.
  5. Mmm....are they allowed to buy again? Weren't they banned from buying new players a while ago for breach of FFP rules.
  6. Fine for you . Can you tell us if there's any score? ....apart from 0-0 ..that is
  7. ....somebody press the button.... Really !....How much did this cost to install ? ...and it still doesn't function ...!
  8. As for players who had a career with Saints....left the club then returned (successfully)..there are very few. Most mentioned above. In reality there is a lot of truth in the old saying " never go back " .very few ever got anywhere near their previous form, and it was always best to remember them - as they once were. As for having Schneiderlin or Oxlade-Chamberlain back(?) .....it may sound a nice thought ....but we warned !
  9. at the moment ...just being declared fit would get someone onto our bench......
  10. as if we didn't have enough distractions with first team injuries (Long, Bertrand, Targett, Cedric) the U23's have the same problem. - it'll be interesting to see who gets first team game-time in the upcoming fixtures against Sunderland and Chelsea. Tonight (Monday) U23's are home to MAN.CITY.....(wonder how many young players Citeh have available?) but with McQueen having been taken out of the U23 set-up now and perhaps us bringing in Hesketh, Reed, Stephens for the Wednesday game...it looks as though quite a number of younger players will get a boost to a higher level this week? U23's have had their own injury problems and six U18's have already had game time with their big brothers in PL2. Obviously the first team "comes first", but the U23/U18 sides also want to give a good showing /win fixtures, so there may be some new faces appearing in all teams this week. Claude Puel has shown that he has no "first-choice eleven" that he will use in every game, and if we don't make it to the Prem. top 5/6...then a trophy (FA Cup / League Cup) may also be an important way into Europe next season). We can only hope for a speedy return to fitness and form for those who... have / have had ...injuries of late and maybe see who's next to get a first team debut. Tonight's game may be an indicator of that ...and who will get a run-out on Wednesday. U23 games often available on YouTube btw.
  11. I think those two shots into Row Z didn't help his popularity, but thought he played well. Booking was a bit harsh.

  13. just about my selection, too ...but think Stephens might get into the mix. Not too many others to choose from if we rest the others. although we might well see Reed , Sims or Olamola on the bench, too Don't want to remember our poor Cup record against Sunderland in recent years, but with them sitting at the bottom of the Prem. surely they will also play a weakened side.

  15. Interesting that (about 2 minutes in) ..he says that Saints were in for him...4 or 5 months before he signed (i.e. February / March). means he wasn't Claude Puel's choice when he signed in the summer, but whether Koeman approved in advance it's difficult to say.
  16. considering the bad luck / poor shooting? in Milan....and the 34 shots v. Burnley which yielded ....just 3 goals, it makes you think that one day soon .....we may really hammer someone .....if our guys change their footwear a bit more often....
  17. ...but a pleasant activity when..you are a pensioner.. with a bit less to do. Taking care of the grandchildren is also fun.
  18. ......and as I recall....that Bale fella' seemed to improve somewhat after he moved upfield a bit ...
  19. Had this thought myself at the time. 3-5-2 wasn't the favourite Koeman line-up, but it certainly put a new dimension into Matt Targett's game, and we managed to play him and Bertrand in the same game(s). Maybe Bertrand saw himself as a future CB ? As for Sam Mc Queen's "super start"....we'll see what he's capable of if he plays against Man City and Chelsea, but for someone who started out as a defender.... and was then converted to midfield, at least it doesn't feel like strange territory for him to cross over the halfway line and run with the ball.
  20. living 1000 miles away may seem a disadvantage to some, but still " the best Saints source" ..aside from other friends on the site.
  21. Quite frankly. I'm pleased that we have three players who CDAJFU, and in the present circumstances it's just a case of playing whoever is fittest.
  22. it's early days for him at Blackburn, so I'm not going to criticise him at all, but ..atm...the answer is probably not yet . A quick look at the leading scorers in the Championship might be a good indication as to what can be considered.... " a decent level ". Sam's sojourn at MK Dons didn't do much for his progress...Time-wise, it was five months " wasted " (almost like a long term injury).. but it seems that Owen Coyle is helping him a lot, and so maybe we can answer that question closer to the end of the season...especially if Blackburn can also haul themselves up the table.
  23. ....if he can turn in another good performance v. Man.City.... then he'll certainly give Matt Targett a run for his money as second choice LB.
  24. Er ......say again please ? Don't understand question /statement
