  1. As Lord T says, they still had massive player debts to clear as part of the last 'debt-free' takeover, a process that is only complete once those agreed debts have been cleared. They now claim to have cleared everything, not that we don't believe them but an indicator of that would be that all charges have been lifted as no one requires security on a debt anymore. They haven't been lifted. No doubt the belated accounts will clear up any misunderstandings later this week. (a QPR fan worried about pompey's insolvency?? )
  2. The rules on concussion are very clear. You cannot take the field again for at least ten minutes if you are playing rugby for Wales, but if you are in goal for Spurs the ref won't restart the game until you feel up to it.
  3. Any idea what time the open top bus tour is tomorrow? I'm due to travel east and I don't want to get caught in the queues off the M27. When they won that game before Christmas there was traffic chaos for days.
  4. looking at Torquay and Plymouth - wow, the big hitters are in town! Is the old twitching wheeler dealer really still in the game?....with his knee?....and his criminal dog?.......I would imagine he was too upset when his derelict building burned down and he found that the planning committee members weren't born yesterday. I reckon it's all over for Harry down east. The only third coming pompey will see is if little Avram has a very long afternoon to kill on an industrial estate.
  5. Oh yes, the Stockport day, can it really only be three administrations ago, it seems like only yesterday. The mighty fortress will once again echo to the plucky sound of......hang on, didn't we decide that pompey players were getting frightened by the pressure of home crowds? Isn't the support just too plucky and passionate? Aren't they just trying to create yet another cup final atmosphere that will be too big for themselves, for the ref and the rest of world sport? Or is it just another little game to decide who gets to play Eastleigh next season? The latter. Which explains why 5,000 people attend each sell out home game dressed as blue seats.
  6. yes I agree Smirk that he gave the ref the opportunity for a yellow or red - but the writhing player and aggressive bench reaction was aimed at influencing the decision. The media was all over the career-ending tackle on the day, but has been very slow to spot the miraculous recovery. It seems that when the stretcher was put away, the air ambulance stood down and the dust settled, the truth is that there was no injury at all...
  7. Modou Barrow set to be available for the Sunderland game having suffered no serious injury following the challenge which saw Ryan Bertrand sent off at St Mary's. So.....four minutes of play acting, a pantomime with a stretcher, an outraged bench ensuring maximum pressure on the ref and we now quietly discover that he's not actually injured.... What a surprise. But all the rolling about and touchline anguish fooled Mr Oliver into thinking he'd been badly hurt and that's what counts - job done!
  8. quote from comments section - Completely agree that this young man acted like an idiot, and has disgraced our Club Let me tell you mate, he could have been caught pleasuring himself with an ugly male goat in a packed children's play area while both parties were dressed in full pompey kits, including socks, with him singing Gary Glitter hits out of tune, and he still wouldn't be able to disgrace the club more than the criminality and antics of the last decade - much of which you and your plucky chums have applauded, and still celebrate. HMS Disgrace sailed long ago and was lost with all hands before making it to the Round Tower.
  9. Suddenly you realise why top teams loan out some of these young 'stars' - there's no such thing as a free lunch. Unless you agree a price for it and then just ignore the bill. Twice.
  10. I think anyone who has been told by relegation candidates that they aren't good enough, who has then moved to a bigger club and scored, has probably earned the right to be a little smug, thus raising a question mark over the whole set-up at said relegation candidates. #hero-villain
  11. If you just watch the tackle I can see how someone could judge it as a potential red. The frustrations come from the inconsistency of different refs (Ramirez v Brown) and of Oliver himself within games that he attempts to ref. IMO in the context of everything that the ref had let go, it was not a red. I'm not going to bore you with a list but there are approx five occasions in the game when he could have booked Swansea players and didn't. But the real test of how damaging a tackle that really was will be judged by how many months Barrow spends on the sidelines. I wish him a speedy recovery.......and I'm curious to see how quick that recovery is.
  12. I could accept that as a red if Oliver gave about 8 yellows for other offences in the game that could have warranted them, or if he was capable of seeing the difference between a corner and a goalkick, or even if he could grasp the concept of injury time. He set his level when he ignored a deliberate handball and several fouls, then he changed it. Even in the last few mins he failed to book a Swansea player for a poor professional foul. Inconsistent.
  13. Credit where credit is due, a great result for them, taking a point off the leaders is a fine effort. Unless of course you need to average two points per game to make the playoffs and one point per game to avoid relegation from the football league. But great result.
  14. If they get something from today they might cancel the open top bus when they see the table. But if they lose late on I think it's fair to say that it would officially be a full blown crisis.... Could be an interesting last ten mins.
  15. Don't you have an off button? I lasted 30secs. As Avram would say while trying to claim a refund.
  16. From those stats, all fanbase debates are over. There is one very clear winner. Though I guess if we take into account quantity and quality, the fact that their smaller following never boos their own, must give them the edge. Portsmyth no.728. All scummahs boo their own team at every home game and leave at half time if they aren't winning.
  17. 49% supporting it - isn't that unanimous?...
  18. Just to clarify the swear filter, I wasn't calling them a bunch of ****s, just ****s. I hope that clears up any misunderstanding.
  19. Fire up the Villain/Herometer, our next contestant is Mr Gambly McInnes from Oddbins... A heavy defeat at Wycombe will see him drop off the edge of Villain but a draw there and a home win will make him the Hero of the month! He is currently walking a fine line, just as he did when invited to at the roadside by Hampshire Police. He got away with that one, can he get away with this vote of confidence?..... Tune in on Saturday for the next exciting episode of Deluded ****s who are Easily-led.
  20. They are indeed overawed playing in their own cup final every week. Meaning that the job is too big for Awford. The club is just too big for football itself.
  21. Word on the street that Awford has been given another fortnight - presumably while they finalise the details of his replacement.
  22. All that Liebherr stuff is a relief, I thought we got outplayed by Sheffield United and Palace but it now appears that we deliberately lost those games. I've also learned that apparently the laugh is on us. Which has made me all jealous. And I've just checked the glorious history of the business that operates from Fratton Park. Formed 2013. Best league finish - 13th League Two. But on a positive note it's those little gems of delusion that fuel this thread, you forget how thick some of them are - go on tell me more about the dock strike and your shares...
  23. Trousers you bitter green-eyed scummah, they were absolutely fine back then and fully solvent! It was only when the child-maimer got a bit unlucky on the world markets that things went slightly awry, not that he owned the club illegally or anything like that. And there was definitely no problem before the FA Cup theft, or the win at St Marys, other than the odd administration. So the new company gets to keep ALL of the results of the four previous companies and just loses the odd £100M of debt here and there - same as we did, same as Chelsea and Man Utd have. And if they do have to pay off another manager the parachute payments will cover it cos they is ringfenced.
