  1. Yup, never before Lambert has England had a striker that can score goals
  2. He is trying, you can see his quality, but can also see he really isnt sharp. Looks physically as fit as Ive ever seen him though TBH
  3. I reckon Woy knows better than playing lambert out wide ?!? What do you reckon ?
  4. None of them really look up for it except for Wilshere and Gerrard. Nobody keeping the ball well, everyone losing the ball by misplacing 10 yard passes except for Gerrard who you are right to point out keeps trying hollywoods. A lot is down to desire and as I said before a lack of movement. Rooneys lack of gametime cant help
  5. Depends on how long the complete lack of any movement going forward lingers I imagine. Our best player so far, though admitidly thats mainly from a defensive POV
  6. I was waiting for someone to blame the whipping boy, ignoring Walcott who just ran away for some reason. Tbf I wouldhave expected atleast one of Welbeck, Gerrard, Jagielka or even Hart to stop that Ho hum, if we lose hopefully Hodgson will sail off into the sunset
  7. As expected Welbeck gets the shift out wide to hussle and bussle, Lamberts chance will be when Rooney comes off. I hope ge gets on, would be cruel to call him up and not cap him
  8. Booing the anthems, ***ts
  9. I agree TBH. Carrying an injury, against lowly Scotland, why not use it to try out some of the other players ?
  10. His problem is he has no real legs but he is a great ball player, with the right midfield around him they will be ok. Ive always liked him, he will have to watch his fitness though
  11. Reckon we should be in for Cattermole, a proper little player he is, always bank on him to mix it up and bring the steel when things get proper nawty.
  12. Play with two banks of four, couple of grafters in the middle, chuck it up to the big man and feed of scraps Lovely jubbly Ill give you a ring on the blower then Ill be round in the Ford Cortina me old son
  13. I think he will end up a decent player, his technique always seemed decent to me and he works hard which is also his downfall really, this is why when he was played by SAF he was deployed out wide. He gave Real a torrid time and usually looks ok in an England top for me. I get the impression Hodgson sees him for the future and is bedding him into the international team. England arent exactly blessed with strikers ATM either, Id have liked to have seen Hooper given a go though.
  14. You get annoyed quite easily dont you adrian ?
  15. They generally arent AMs. False 9 was invented in some glossy new coaching manual in an attempt to explain the way a certain player needs to play. Essentially I reckon someone just said 'he plays just behind the front man, not exactly a number 9' etc bla bla bla There are loads like this and will probably be more as roles evolve etc
  16. Ignoring the way we play then ? Idiot
  17. If he plays well tonight, and if Saints are recognised as a side that can provide reasonable reinforcements to a senior england side (Clyne, Cork, Shaw, Lallana?, J Rod?) then potentially he could be a name on the plane. As I said before there are reasons teams are fashionable for England, its to do with numbers and tactics generally. Ill be watching and hoping he copes with the England tactics tonight. Carroll isnt a bad choice for England as a whole, he is better than people give him credit and is a handfull
  18. Depends on if we sign all of the targets we are going for IMO. As much as Cortese is Ruthless I think he is happy he has the right man in the role for the forseeable. A finish of anywhere between 15th to 11tg certainky woulndt be disasterous. This obviously may change if we spunk another 30m or so before the end of august.
  19. For me it certainly seems more likely that it was a committee signing, shows how little faith they had in Adkins spotting a player that they clearly hadnt talked to him about it (if it was the case) or just how doomed Adkins was. FWIW I think that player signings are probably Adkins worst points as a manager, if he starts to get them right he could potentially be a decent PL manager but you cant blame the man considering more or less his entire career was in the lower leagues. As per transfers you are spot on and many on here fail to realise that, all are more or less gambles, especially younger players or those from abroad. Even many who appear dead certs can end up as flops. Nobody is infallible, even Wenger and SAF have fallen foul of their fair share and they have massive knowledge and top scouting networks to back them up. Spunking 1m on Forren doesnt bother me too much, but it shows what happens when you rush things. I get the impression Forren is a very homley player and I seriously doubt he will move far from Molde in his career. But it is reasons such as this tgat I agree with targeting the right players and making sure we get them.
  20. He was homesick and deemed not of the required quality. He never reallt gelled with the rest of the lads. As per who's signing it was I dont actually know, Adkins was reported to have intimated in interviews that he wasnt aware who Forren was, whether that is because he didnt know he was coming in or it was more of adkins Art of war crap I dont really know and is up for speculation. It was however a pretty poor bit of business however you look at it.
  21. I like you dig dog, lets not get all gay over a disagreement over whether Lambert is top 10 quality or not, a Hodgson call up when the actual picks are injured changes little. FWIW its not necessarily Lamberts quality that worries its the way he plays vs our tactics.
  22. Without a striker I think 14th is the best that we can hope for Fair comments IMO
