You dont need to have a working knowledge of what you are managing, you just need to be able to pick up the processes and be able to manage the manageables. Thinking a senior manager needs operational experience is often short sighted and leads in failure. Obv there are situations within which a good manager also has a decent grasp on the subject he is managing

That was a rediculous theory, as was the Pardew was ****g!ng all snd sundry one. Basically Nicola wanted a manager that was going to stay true for a good few years and stay loyal to the club, Pardew had already heard about the Newcastle job and his heart was not in the job any more.
