  1. Yup… but Im certainly encouraged that SR have a bigger backbone than the Gao regimes We’re largely powerless when the big clubs come calling, but glad we dug in and got what looks like a great fee Someone had to leave, be it KWP or Tino (or both) we’re more than able to cover the RB position Its a shame, but also, realistically, a good bit of business
  2. To confirm, they don’t tend to pay off contracts, the new team effectively just takes on or adjusts the terms of the existing contract If you look at end of year accounts its very clear we aren’t liable for the remaining term if a transfer is successfully negotiated
  3. So like you stated he wasn’t clear about Tino, if, like you suggest, Tino’s head isn’t in it (would be a weird turn around from pre season tbh) My issue with Matt is he gets more info then he makes out, so embellishes the negatives to drive engagement, which of course us fine, but does do my head in
  4. I very much doubt there is that much in it to be honest, this Matt seems a bit of a prick, he gets early info but only really divulges the stuff that gets him engagement. I called him out about JWP (who was rested with 10 others) and Bednarek (who was rehabbing at home) its just as likely that Tino will travel later Like you say I see no reason for Martin to omit info regarding Tino really
  5. He isn’t injured I don’t think
  6. He definitely has contacts, but he tends to sensationalise and leave out key facts
  7. Bazunu Tino Bednarek Stephens Manning Jwp Smallbone Alcaraz Tella Arma Edozie I just don’t for the life of me see Lavia starting tbh
  8. I can see us beating SW tomorrow to be honest, by all accounts they are an absolute mess at the moment, and I think that early win gets us off the mark I think it’ll be a bit scrappy but I think in the end Arma will get 1 or 2
  9. I do.. and it can be complicated, but in theory no, the club will not have to pay off the remainder of the contract, unless it is specified to do so… for instance if we told Diallo to leave, and he could only find a club that offered him 50% part of the negotiation could be that he requests we pay his remaining term etc Generally though, the club is only liable for signing on fees or loyalty fees negotiated at the beginning of the contracts as they tend to be spread over the contracted period and the players tend to get these UNLESS they hand in a transfer request.. lotalty fees tend to be paid after a certain amount of years, so, in Mbappes case if he got to the 2nd year of his 3 year term etc But in answer to your question no, the selling club generally isn’t liable for the rest of a contract if the player is transferred early into the term of said contract
  10. Id of been on time if the CoT hadn’t been discussing the terms of the performance bonuses first… ffs 🤦‍♂️
  11. Its a loan.. have we managed to get a €3m loan fee ?!
  12. It was 8€m I think, so after amortisation it probably appeases our balance sheets, although I do prefer the more normal style of accounting We lost €3m overall, but considering we’ve saved wages etc and he seemed pretty incompatible with RMs tactics im not too worried
  13. Im not sure he is tbf….
  14. I would imagine we’re have a replacement lined up but none will have the impact JWP will have if he remains
  15. I very much doubt that we will be able to sue unfortunately
  16. Yeah I can agree with that, Bazunu is ok enough, his confidence worries me… McCarthy is terrible AND doesn’t fit the RM system unfortunately Charles Id agree, he’s a CM not CB in my book
  17. The goalkeeper is fine CB… maybe we need another but ABK + JB or JB + JS is probably good enough, agree Id like to see another We almost certainly need a striker though agreed
  18. Poor bloke looks absolutely devastated to be there He’s also been given the No.11 shirt, and ABK is back training apparently
  19. What makes you think we don’t have the players to play Martins way ? Its felt like we’re pretty much there in preseason We need a striker, thats whats stuck for me.. but as for the midfielders, its felt like they’ve adapted well
  20. I agree too, and the problem is for WHU is tgat, realistically ? Im not convinced JWP is worth 40m, especially not when you consider what 40m can get you elsewhere on the market and certainly from Europe… however, he is worth that to us I do think keeping JWP for this year will almost definitely galvanise this squad, and it looks like thats been taken into consideration We’ve probably, after Orsic, Diallo, DCC and Salisu already brought in 30m + wages… if we sell Lavia thats bordering 70/80m + wages… so it means our necessity to sell (that wasn’t hugely high before due to SRs finances) is even less I love the stance we’re taking currently, it’s refreshing… you want our best players ? You best be prepared to pay for them
  21. Ive said what Ive said, regardless of commitment he is our 3rd best CB on our books. As per playing regularly he was replaced by a Bournemouth side that struggled defensively before January and we’ve been trying to offload him for about 18-24 months I applaud his commitment and his vocality, but I want to see ability first
  22. Without going into huge details, I get to hear plenty from the training ground for one reason or another, I have been privileged to have been invited to a couple of games in the board room both home and away in the past The general whispers around Tella, and most of the squad are that they’re relaxed. Comfortable with the clubs vision and under RM.. there were a few challenging characters at the end of last season, but most are gone or have relaxed. Tella himself is happy here, but I think potentially happy if he moves, there is no perceived ‘push’ to move to Burnley at all As for Burnley, I don’t really understand why you think he’d get a ‘larger wage’ with you, comparatively speaking we are a bigger club with deeper pockets, and likely looking to tie up new signings into relegation clauses… Id suggest realistically you are at risk of relegation, but in terms of the three promoted clubs you probably are that level above but still Now of course my next statement will have a level of bias, but I don’t think its too far away from reality. If we look at the potential placement of both Burnley and Southampton in 5 years its hard to argue the latter club is likely more upwardly mobile, in terms of size and budgets All of this is before we even talk about having to live in fucking burnley
  23. You’re also skint.. so theres that too
