Ugarte, Caicedo and an in form Enzo is a ridiculous midfield
-
Well it is pride month tbf
-
Couldn’t write it eh
-
Its widely reported personals have been agreed and apparantly he’s been to Staplewood already Im sure he is in contact with the club about what he wants, the players are currently away on holiday, there really isn’t a rush if its only a few days to wait for a cheaper fee I do get the clamour from fans to get this over the line but in reality this is all just formalities that I doubt have any significance to either club
-
I think we already tried and were rejected The Martin deal feels like its done anyway, we’re just waiting to sort the fee
-
Id be amazed and genuinely angry if Potter pitches up at Leicester
-
I wonder how they would "read" the clause if Luton came in for Martin. It's clearly bollocks from Swansea. Well Id suggest they’d do their best to try to hang out negotiations but if Luton aren’t idiots they’d pay the agreed compensation figure whilst still technically and legally a Championship club 🤷♀️
-
Point well made 😂
-
The amount of people that don’t understand how clauses work from a legal perspective is spectacular
-
Im just suggesting you don’t understand the legal ramifications of contracts mate There’s no time constraints, Swansea clearly don’t want to just hand him over, he has a contractual clause that suggests we pay ‘x’ whilst we are a PL club and ‘y’ whilst we are a Championship club Legally we are a PL club… its not hard to understand
-
I’m going to go ahead and assume you’ve only ever done a paper round and mummy and daddy still read all the paperwork for you to sign mate 👍🏻
-
Currently, as far as the clause is concerned, a premier league club So you’re either being thick or deliberately obtuse and Id suggest its not the latter
-
He’s coming in as head of performance, after being head of athletic performance at various rugby teams, Id say if he is shaping the sports science departments then its not completely necessary to have a strong footballing background, its more important to be successful at building, as suggested, strong sports science departments

Exactly this, of course, this is why the DoF hire has to be correct, but in a sense its just like hiring a good CEO in a commercial business, they are the head that will steer the ship Time will tell whether Wilcox is a good hire, but hopefully it avoids flipping from 3 managers that had vastly different tactical approaches, and in the January example panic buy players that don’t fit after a week… thats a crazy situation that has to be avoided SR have nowhere to hide now, we have a DoF (that we assume is competent) and are shaping the rest of the backroom in their image, that can only be seen as a good thing
-
This is what we need to avoid, its an absolutely dreadful situation which just wastes resources Fans always harp on about how the manager should be picking the players, but ultimately the most important figure at any modern facing club should be the DoF who rightly or wrongly should be ensuring players, staff, manager etc are all pulling towards the same tactics/goal and so IF you end up sacking a manager, the players in the building should be able to be utilised by the next one
-
Im not really sure Swansea are being dicks, we’ve poached their manager and the terms of his current contract state we owe them a higher fee, its a technicality but it is what it is, Im sure if we were in Swansea’s shoes we’d be saying ‘fair play to us’ Nothing is stopping them having conversations with managers (of which many are probably on holiday) and nothing is stopping us planning with Wilcox/Martin Just chill, the players aren’t even here anyway
-
No I believe the Sell on fee stacks. Atleast thats what Ive seen reported before by the Athletic for instance, so if he goes to City for a £40m fee they ‘get’ 20% (or whatever the agreed fee is) Of course Id like to keep him, but realistically 50m isn’t a huge sum for a player of his talents, Ive said before, with modern tactics there are very few clubs at the highest of tables that can function without an elite No.6 and Lavia is on his way to being one Casemiro transformed Utd for instance Fabinho’s regression has had a huge impact on Liverpool Arsenal/Chelsea are just not the same without Partey/Kante Lavia will likely be a top level no.6 if he carries on this trajectory, and I think he’ll have a few suiters. Namely Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and possibly abroad
-
200k is a reasonable sum for both parties although arguably more Swansea who I imagine are the ones digging in heels TBH from what Ive read he’s already been doing a bit of work so I imagine its all formality tbh
-
In terms of the values of his compensation packages Im only summising, from things Ive read, mainly from Nixon Its reported to be about 800k for prem and half that for the Championship We were officially a premier league club, as far as any legal paperwork is concerned, until the official end of the season, not entirely sure when that date is but I ‘think’ it was yesterday
-
My understanding is, the sell on clause is already active but the buy back isn’t until next year So… the point I was making is if we were only offered a maximum of 40m this year the landscape doesn’t change much… so do we try to keep him for a promotion push knowing the fee’s would be largely the same next year ? Or do we cash in ? A lot depends on finances and player agitating too of course Id say he’s pretty well sought after, there just isn’t too many young DMs showcasing his level of ability Edit - Im saying £35m because it will be the 20% on top of the £40m buy back, which makes it £32m (but im not sure on the sell on clause)
-
This is true, but the point still is, we stand to lose him for £35m (of course if City want him) when we could potentially sell for £40m+ this year An offer at £50m and its a definite sell imo, I suppose there is a conversation to be had around £40m ? Do we ask him to stay a year ? Can we get a years loan back in the deal ?
-
Except its not a turn of events at all. They’re just waiting for us to officially be a Championship club so they can save 400k
-
Pretty much If we miss promotion then there are genuine financial conversations that need to be had, although naturally I think we’ll again lose more through agents/players wanting out Miss it two years in a row and we’ll need sales or investment
-
No… we’re selling him because next year he can go to City for about 35m so makes sense to cash in now
-
Yeah I think there is a need but a lot is because our squad is ridiculously bloated It was more aimed at those that thought we’d have to have a huge cut price firesale.. we won’t, we’ll likely get decent money for anybody that leaves, it’s unlikely we’ll be forced into a sale for anybody that doesn’t down tools imo JWP we’ll let leave… for the right price, Lavia has plenty of suiters. Salisu is possibly the only obvious cut price deal due to his contractual situation
