Things you are willing to sacrifice - just to be there

Canada trumps Portugal I think -
I am sure the phrase "scarfer" has been coined people who where pin badges, despite the obvious connection with being a scarf wearer

How can you get it wrong when the correct answer has already been posted Jamie never scored a league goal for us. Swap him for Le Saux.

Where is everyone watching Middlesborough Game?
kpturner replied to SaintSarah's topic in The Saints
Depends whether you are walking or driving I suppose (massive assumption on my part that you will want to have a drink - possibly not if you have your 8 year old nipper with you). -
Thanks for taking part.

In the stadium, probably with liquid bowels. -
I just coudn't bear to miss the Coventry game - just in case it is a promotion-fest (same goes for 'Boro as it happens). Imagine my dismay when it dawned on me that the annual golf tour to Portugal with the boys (which is all booked and paid for) is flying out of Southampton to Faro on the afternoon of the 28th April!!! Needless to say, my seat on the Flybe flight to Faro will be empty. In actual fact I am not sacrificing that much - I booked a flight from Gatwick to Faro for the following morning. Taxi at 04:00am (possibly still in party mode) for an 08:00am flight to meet the boys on the first tee just in time. What have you sacrified to be there (not necessarily the Coventry game of course)?

I don't like these threads

I hope so.....unless there are just the three of us with Saints goggles on.

I cannot help myself. At Peterborough, with the score at 3-0, I was still convinced we would either concede three late goals OR West Ham would get a winner. I was just as bad at Plymouth last year when we got pegged back to 3-1. Strangely, I cannot remember being so negative as a kid when we last got promoted to the top flight. I guess it must be just down to the endless kicks in the nuts I/we have had over the years.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .

Isn't the point of somebody posting a link to prevent having to cut-n-paste the entire text into the post? Just asking. -
That is why I said "in all likelihood". I am anticipating a draw (or worse) based on our propensity for dragging it out as long as possible.
-
Good point. Stay at home. In all likelihood we'll have to wait until Monday to celebrate anyway.
-
Yep - driving home from Peterborough on Tuesday night the league table completely escaped my attention. I am, however, somewhat resigned to having to celebrate promotion sat on my @rse watching Leicester draw with West Ham on Monday. Also, we have decided to stay in Chesterfield on the way back from Boro. In hindsight, that is also not a great place to celebrate promotion either.
-
Nope - West Ham get 5 points for a win. Fact.
-
Perfectly serious. Please explain to me how it is possible for us to mathematically clinch promotion at Middlesbrough?
-
My sentiments exactly. You don't get to witness these sort of things first hand very often. I was at Luton and Orient that year. Can even remember getting hit in the eye by a sugar cube on the coach coming home from Luton, and seeing an old lady on the pavement (who looked like my recently deceased nan) waving at us before some bloke behind me gobbed at her out of the window. Then there was the wall collapsing at Orient.......great memories

Signed in 1992 - possibly the first year of the EPL.
-
You would have been OK though, because Middlesbrough starts with an "M" not a "B" I had a similar dismal record until finally seeing a league win at Forest. Been great ever since (apart from Blackpool, which was dismal).
-
....or promotion for that matter.
-
So that was you behind us in the seats at Peterborough then?
-
Anyone else staying in Chesterfield on the way back? Not sure why we picked Chesterfield mind - apart from being able to gaze at the crooked spire.
