Yep, whilst in an ideal world I would like to see us get a better (more reliable defensively) left back in than Fox, I agree more or less with this priority list... left back is quite far down it:-)
-
The champions bit was not a mistranslation, unless my Portuguese is failing me. He said: "quando subimos (de divisão) e fomos campeões" Which means "when we went up a division and were champions". I think Billy Sharp also made the same error, but then he wasn't here for that season. You are right though, he does say that we like him a lot, not love. He continues to say that we appreciate him, which in general, I think most fans that I speak to don't, unfortunately.

I don't think anyone is saying we have a team full of average players. Only Fox is being discussed here. However, no team from the Championship will do well going up to the Prem without strengthening the team at all, and for me, left back is one of our weaker spots (along with right back and right midfield). I would say that Nigel Adkins won't replace Fox as he is one of his signings, so the only chance of us getting a new left back is if Spurs or someone else come in for him and he decides to go. And actually, I'd like to see us keep Fox as decent cover for left back and left midfield, get rid of Harding and Holmes, and bring in a top quality left back who knows how to defend. Doubt that will happen though. And it won't be the end of the world as long as we strengthen in other areas.

Nope, I read the original in Portuguese :-) (spent 6 months living in Brazil)

Fox has a great dead ball on him, but apart from that I'm not a huge fan. His performance away at Doncaster was one of the worst I've seen in a good while from a Saints player (although no one covered themselves in glory that day). I think he is defensively suspect, doesn't support Lallana that well (in the way that Richardson does with whoever plays on the right of midfield) and is prone to playing "Hollywood balls" that often don't work out. If we can find a decent replacement I wouldn't mind him going, but I have no idea who that would be!

Straight swap for Gareth Bale? ;-)

I'm pretty sure it has Jos's goal at home to West Ham. But there are certainly a fair few games missing. Would love to see a comprehensive one, but a great collection all the same.

Yep, definitely better at the top of the diamond or just off the main striker, I am sure we will get a player much more suited to right midfield this summer, as you say.

I think the most notable thing about the equaliser at Reading was Guly's assist. Absolute class, as he is through much of this video. Still can't believe how much people were getting on his back this season, easily one of our most effective players (despite being frustrating to watch at times), as this video proves.
-
In addition to thinking that the fans love him (he obviously doesn't read this board, thankfully), he also thinks that we were Champions last year, always had 30,000 crowds in league 1, AND that when we play away we always have more fans than the home team. Still, nice interview all the same.

Guly was my man of the match too, best he's played in a long time. Portuguese speakers may also laugh at what he says to the camera man on the dressing room celebrations video on SaintsPlayer - "stick that camara up your c*nt!".

Only 27 more years in the top flight? Bloody pessimist.

I'm sorry, but the TV replay showed that it was just offside. The commentators on Sky also confirmed that.

I'll join you with that. Cynical, horrible foul by Hines. No idea how he stayed on the pitch. 'Boro and the ref: c*nts. -
Right, I've never been so angry and sad at a refereeing decision in my life. Added to the Lambert keeping the ball in play decision in the first half which already had me fuming. And in such an important game. Gutted.

If I was him, I'd slate the ref (and lino), and rightly so. But I think Nigel has more class than me, so probably not. -
Yep, some people don't understand that football games are about momentum. We had it, I was sure we were going to win, then Hines takes it away with a cynical foul on Lallana, on a yellow, and somehow stays on the pitch. If I was that gutted about it, I can't imagine how it would have affected our players, however professional and positive they are. A hammer blow.

The ref changed the game. We we're all over them, and that bad decision sent the game back in the other direction. He sends their player off, we win. I was seething at the time because I knew it was a game changer.

Gutted. Saints were in total control in the 2nd half until that decision. Hines gets sent off, we go on to win the game. But the ref bottled it, no idea why, and loses us a shot a the title. It's been YEARS I've been this annoyed after a game. Also, Lambert could have had a free run on goal to make it 2-0, if it wasn't for a ridiculous decision by the lino that it had gone out of play. Robbed. -

2-0. Your move, Reading and West Ham ;-) -
Confident yet nervous. Does that make any sense?

Isn't it on a foreign channel? Not sure which one... but on foreign channels there have definitely been "last minute" changes of matches this season.
-
Three games to go, the promotion race is close and exciting, and yet some TV channel has decided to show Leicester vs Burnley instead of any of the Saints, Reading or West Ham games? Crazy stuff.

I'll be listening at home in Buenos Aires, on SaintsPlayer, as usual. Went to a bar to see the Reading game stream on a big screen on Friday with another Saints fan here (posts as Rojiblanco) which was a nice change, but won't go back there now as I'm already convinced the bar is bad luck. Will have to find another venue for Middlesbrough on TV at the weekend...
