He seemed to come across incredibly confident but inside he must know the size of the job he faces and the unlikeliness of the PL to back down over issues such as forgetting the -9 and allowing them to sell players after they have already been denied once. The PL won't allow such things as they are rules and to allow them to go against such rules will be advantageous to them and will see a mad backlash from other Prem sides for allowing Pompey special priviledges which other clubs do not get. Good luck with that one, weird admin man, you're fighting a losing battle already!

Which Saints Products Would You Take Back?
Winchester_Saint replied to TijuanaTim's topic in The Saints
Would never want Kenwyne Jones back! Remember when Sunderland wanted to sign him and he refused to play for us in our home game against Stoke as he wanted to leave? Would never want a player like him back who refused to play as he wanted to leave us -
It will probably happen because some people have more money than sense - the opportunity to save a dying club, to become an instant hero with the fanbase, to achieve instant fame. I'm guessing that some mega rich people can afford to make such a loss and the challenge, recognition and fame that will come with saving a Premier League club which is about to die will outplace the money issue. Of course, they may simply invest enough to save the club from dying, see it go into admin, then pick it up on the cheap? I don't know enough about the ins and outs of business to comment on this, however.

Are you deliberately trying to take the mick out of someone who now needs a wheelchair? Like to see how funny you would find it if you were in his shoes and people were cracking disabled jokes buddy

Fantastic stuff! What commitment and dedication!
-
Yeah totally agree and unfortunately probably sounded as though the Skates were singing their 'Play up' version very loudly as I don't think 'Pay' would have come across clearly on the TV. Personally, I sang '**** off Pompey' everytime that song came up!

Ticketing policy for the JPT Final
Winchester_Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Luton played Rotherham didn't they? Pretty sure as remembering thinking it was a League 2 final... -
Sounds awesome, I'll try pop down with my two Saints mates who are coming to the game too!

MK Dons Build Up Thread - It's a sell-out, folks!

Doubt there will be plenty! They opened Block 43 up last week due to MK selling so poorly but they can't open any further than this can they? Guessing MK fans will have blocks, rows and seat numbers on their tickets already -
Spot on. Seriously, Glasgow and Alpine, get real. Some people in life are never happy and always want more. That's you two. It's great to be ambitious and optimistic but you two are boardering on the ridiculous - Alpine, you say you want Boothroyd or Billy Davies in, both are at clubs who are higher in the league than us so cmon. Plus Pardew took us over when we had a messed up team full of wasters and fringe players - this was always a rebuilding season and the fact that he has got us to the position where we are on the brink of going to Wembley and facing a 5th Round FA Cup tie against the Skates I think is great. Our league form was always going to have to be outstanding to have a playoff chance, -10 and virtually no pre-season was always putting us way behind all the others. The re-building is well underway and next season should see us aiming to be champions, especially with the likes of Leeds and Norwich out the way. That will be the time to judge Pardew, in my opinion.

Where will we be in five years
Winchester_Saint replied to Somewhere In Northam's topic in The Saints
Top-half of the Prem hopefully! Exciting times ahead -
Would have made a fortune mate! Have to say the McDonalds that the guys in front of me were eating at 6am smelt even better than normal!

Went past with the people handing out teas and coffees - I was tempted to get up and thank him but was just dozing off leaning against the Northam turnstile at the time!

JPT final or beating the skates?
Winchester_Saint replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Beat Pompey and DRAW with MK Dons That way we get to Wembley and the Quarter Finals by only winning one of them -
Some people have always thought that. In terms of his personality, at worst you could describe him as evil, generally you could describe him as nasty, and at best you could describe him as boring. As for his football management skills...ha ha!

I was there and joined in with the chant - funny stuff - although did think at the time that it might come across on TV as the opposition fans winding us up! That was definitely not the case - didn't hear a peep out of them all game! Saints won the battle both on the pitch and off!
-
Legends. Well done guys. And great to hear he got back OK. Awesome to read a story like that
-
Perhaps he was indicating that Palace, Notts County and Gillingham are all bigger clubs than Pompey

If we have one more signing, which position?
Winchester_Saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Centre forward, preferably in the Lambert mould. Simeon Jackson would be a great capture though -
Agree. Although am sure Otsemobor will go straight in at RB ahead of James, especially until Murty returns. Jose Fonte will probably form a regular partnership with Jaidi, too, although Perry has been terrific whenever he has played.

An era which all of us want to forget but good luck to him nonetheless. Showed good professionalism during a terrible time for the club.
-
And some fans who think he's an average player but respect his work rate and determination!
-
Elliot, quite possibly, but Eastwood, no! He's playing quite a lot for Coventry and also his scoring record for the past few seasons has been awful. No thanks!
