  1. It's a strong team and a decent formation, but just not enough width for me. We can't just rely on the full backs to push on, they still need wingers/wide midfielders to link up with, overlap, get two on ones with opposition full backs. Can't see us doing enough of that with that line up. Also, not sure if the midfield three would provide enough creativity and would leave a lot of pressure on Ramirez to deliver that. Would almost prefer to take out Wanyama and put in Banega in that regard.
  2. Functioning as a pair (as the post stated) which CM partnerships do you think were better in the PRem last season? Schneiderlin's stats speak for themself, as does as our change in form when Cork came into the team.
  3. Obviously pleased, as I would be if we signed Damiao.
  4. Just to point out that when he dropped out of the Brazil squad for the COnfeds Cup, he was replaced by Jo, which tells you about the level of competition for places up front in their squad.
  5. Yes of course it does. I don't doubt the lad has the ability to be better than any of our current forward line, but in my eyes spending north of £20m on a player that has had very little exposure to playing in a league like the Premier League, plus the personal issues of settling in england from South America, I reckon it's a fair sized gamble.
  6. Where have I done that? Bit of an odd thing to make up.
  7. Thanks for stating that Adrian. I'm not sure anyone doesn't think he could be potentially a very good player for us, but surely there has to be a consideration at what point our gamble on a player that has never played in Europe or at a level similar to the Premier League would become too much? How much do you think we should spend on him? Regarding his international appearances, goals in frendlies against Ghana, Sweden and Bolivia aren't much of a guide.
  8. Doesn't answer my question.
  9. How many games has he played at a similar level and tempo to the Premier League?
  10. Alan Shearer is probably the right answer - think he we sold him for a British record which tells it's own story.
  11. No, it's that Cortese is unhappy with season ticket sales and is using MP to try and whip up a bit more interest in the coming season, once they've picked up we'll be ready to make our move for Darren Bent.
  12. So you agree that red and white stripes are Saints' traditional home kit? But cannot give a reason for changing from tradition? For how long had the previous traditional Leeds and Liverpool kits been running for?
  13. Right, which approach is the Southampton Way for us to lead on and others to follow?
  14. I thought we loved the fact that our club didn't comment on transfers until they were completed or is that old hat now?
  15. Is it really any different to what Adkins used to say?
  16. Sounds like a busy agent on this one as well, so can expect his fees to be pretty high as well?
  17. Think they've heard we're skint and no-one wants to join us?
  18. I think Gary Neville tells a story in his autobiography of Kevin Keegan falling asleep during one of Les Reed's coaching lectures when he was involved in the England set-up. Whether that's a positive or negative reflection on Reed, I'm not sure.............
  19. So that's who Steve Grant was arguing with on Twitter over his banning, he ain't happy!
  20. He must live a fair way out if you're passing him up there.
  21. Why do you think Nixon would make up stuff about Cortese/Saints?
  22. I think he'd be great in that role, only thing would let him down is being involved in the pressing of defenders and general defensive work.
  23. Why would that make him more of a bargain? What can we do with the caps?
  24. Leaving the city or the county? They are two quite different things?
